  1. Link here Hmm, Christmas coming.....
  2. Another SV one here please. If I'm not too late.
  3. I may be able to address a couple of those points 6speed. Third tank just topped up by about 60% for a busy weekend. Based on diesel used, mpg was better than the first couple of tanks but not back to my usual 50. Engine does seem quieter and the early morning (6am) cold start rattle is no longer there (wasn't that significant before, just not there at all now). I have used the last of the 2T in topping the tank so after this I am running for 3 tanks with no additive. The DPF burn frequency does not seem to have been altered significantly although on the Accord, it is hard to say when it has kicked in. I keep an eye on the on-board computer to see when the instant mpg drops significantly, then comes back. It may - may - have reduced the frequency by 10% but that is too small a margin to be a reliable stat. Power around 1750 - 2200 rpm is definitely up. 2nd gear wheel spin is something I haven't tried for but has happened a few times now. So, my conclusion so far is that after 1700 miles with a variety of driving styles, mpg is down, quietness is improved, power is up. Is it worth the £3 (approx) per tankful for the 2T and the reduced mpg (circa 4%)? Inconclusive. I'll report back again when this tankful is gone and replaced with straight Tesco diesel. 4. Second tankful used. Mixed results this time. There does seem to be more grunt around 2krpm: wheelspin in 2nd was a bit of a surprise as I wasn't trying that hard. Engine still seems quiet and smooth but the Honda iD-TEC was pretty good already so this may still be imagination. MPG turns out as before, about 4% DOWN on previous tankfuls without oil, though this time my partner did a lot of miles and never gets the same economy as me. The on-board computer suggested I should have returned much higher mpg figures (750 miles to the tank)but the fuel pump gauge said not. On to the third tank now. Update after this third tank is used.
  5. If these are from the US and are indeed high and low beam, aren't they for LHD vehicles? Hence they would work in Denmark? Or have I missed something?
  6. Having read the thread, then looked at some more forum sites (Land Rover, Audi, VW) it appeared to me this practice is anecdotally not new though finding real evidence has been impossible. Most forums quote the "well known German manufacturer" test, with many cut and paste quotes to "prove" the point. So I figured I should try it on my Accord 2.2 EX. First tank full - jury is out. Not noticed any real change though if I believe the fill-up to fill-up mpg, it is DOWN 2mpg. Worst I've had since owning the car for the last 4 months. Not scientific so onto the second tank now. This time the car seems to feel smoother and quieter, but that could be a placebo effect. All indications are that the on-board mpg indicator shows normal returns, so nothing spectacular. Nor noticed any reduced DPF burn cycle either. I'll update when I have used all the oil after my 3rd tank has been used up.

Good point about the sump clearance. I have speed bumps around most of the local roads which I have to negotiate before finding proper roads. This profile has made a surprising difference in how easy I can now clear them. I know there isn't much profile difference between 175/50 and 185/60 but it certainly helps.

Yep, the 888s come in Medium and Soft compounds. The mediums I am using seem to be equivalent to if not better than the Avons. The softs must be quite sticky. I also hear that the CR500s are on back order whereas the Toyos and Yokos are available reasonably widely. In my view, it doesn't matter how good a tyre is - if you can't buy one when you need one, it is academic.

Hi Mark I have those size wheels on my R400. I changed from CR500 to medium Proxes 888 last weekend with the profiles you have in mind and have done about 200m since. So far I like them more (only in the dry so far). They feel like the side walls are more forgiving yet since they were scrubbed in, the grip level is as at least good or better than the Avons. The CR 500's did me proud on a couple of track days so I think I got a good feel for how well they perform. So far the Toyos are suggesting they will do better. Bought the Toyos on eBay from Demon Tweeks, £370 for all 4 delivered, and they arrived in 2 days from order! Hope that helps Chris
  10. Thanks Mark Would you take £75 inclusive of P&P? If so we have a deal and I can transfer the amount when you send me your details. Chris
  11. Hi Mark. Can you let me know what seat type this is for? Leather or tillet? Thanks. Also, any idea of postage? Chris
  12. Nice one Mike, I should have done something similar.
  13. Alaskossie, apologies for the tardy reply, been working... They look like ordinary surface mount white LEDs (I have some in my kitchen as white spot lights) but they give off a red light - quite intense too. Looking at the later posts, I assume that as they are red LEDs with a clear lens, little filtering happens so the full lumens escape. It cetainly looks that way.
  14. I've read all the above with interest as the previous owner had gone the clear lenses/LED route on my 7 and as mentioned, the reult is not great. I was very interested in Titanium 7's posts as I had been looking for reflectors that I could cut to fit. Long story short, I ordered 5 from his catalogue (Stop/Tail and Indicator x 2 plus a spare in case I messed up) after talking to a most excellent sales person, shaped 4 of them with ordinary scissors and fitted them today. What a difference even in the daylight. I have also swapped out the "standard" Stop/Tail LED for the brighter ones as per another thread, here which added extra brilliance. Total cost <£30, total time <15 mins. Maybe Titanium 7's mirrors should be a bulk buy? Edited by - velocityblade on 22 Jun 2012 12:56:52 Edited by - velocityblade on 22 Jun 2012 12:57:45
  15. I bought my R400 SV from CC and was informed it had "the larger tank". Whatever the size, I can only get 36l in when filled carefully to the top, according to the STACK guage, which does record the amount I put in accurately, so I would assume 36 is it I get 34-36 on a run sticking close to speed limits (on the plus side) and being swift on acceleration so am very happy with that. This gives me 250 miles before I look to top up. Less than 20 on the track Hope that helps
  16. Link to Pristine here
  17. I think Shad has hit the nail cleanly on the head. If the MOT station makes a fuss about the bias lever, you're likely to end up with a long list. Never had an issue with mine
  18. Oh, OK. My CC silencer was the repackable type, for an R400. Seemed to do the job. There are lots of posts on good "quiet" silencers in the Tech Forum if you are in the mood to change yours out Wish I'd read them before buying mine!
  19. John V Not sure how much the RB's add to the noise level. I know when I had the old exhaust fitted, with the RB's, I just scraped in under 105dB. With a new CC silencer and no other changes I did get under 98 no problem. Re-packing the exhaust may be worth considering if you're going to upgrade to the RB's. John A Interested to read of the pops and bangs. I had those till Track and Road (AKA The 2 Steve's) built me my own map. Clean as a whistle now. I am sure there is a similar tuning operation in the midlands you could use. Good luck with the upgrade Edited by - velocityblade on 24 Mar 2012 15:15:02
  20. Garage? I thought it was the kitchen.
  21. As seen here No vested interest - I have one!
  22. Having toured their distillery I think I can say with confidence there are not enough "mmm's" in the previous posting
