  1. Thanks Ian, already done the LF cooling mod and as you say, easy and cheap
  2. Thanks both, so it seems to be a good idea to put an 82 degree thermostat in. After it's year being on the academy circuit it was 'softened' by caterham, carpet, heater, FIA bar etc and appears to have a thermostat and non race fan switch So where can I get an 82degree stat from?
  3. Hi All, I run a standard ex academy 2006 1600 K series. I am going to remove / test / modify (3mm hole) / replace the thermostat. I use on road only Why do some change to a 82 degree thermostat rather than the original 88 degree one? What are the advantages/disadvantages of such a swap? Thanks
  4. Out of interest, what wheel / tyre size combo was the car designed for?
  5. year or so back I had a 'mousetrap' moment in the garage.... threw some kitchen roll from one end of the garage, which bounced off something, which then knocked something off a shelf which knocked something else over, which knocked a screwdriver off another shelf which went straight through the drivers side screen! Couldn't believe it as it happened in front of me - the chance of doing that on purpose would have been astronomical! Anyhow I 'repaired' it with some waterproof clear tape, cut two small squares and made a sandwich over the hole.
  6. When I was looking to get a couple of tyres fitted - brand new tyres, brand new bare wheels (ie no tyres already fitted), the cheapest I could find was Kwik fit (can't remember how much but I think it was £12 each) - the most expensive was £38 each!!

Showing my age now... or perhaps just the age of cars I could afford as a youngster...

They may have been confused.... We're going back a few years now.... but if you have a switch to turn on a reversing light then that has to have a tell tale, usually it was a switch that lit up. Bizarre to think a 2002 7 would need it!
  10. I bought my 7 second hand in 2010, it had the original banner battery from 2006. Mine has the electrical isolator which I use all the time. I have never used a conditioner. It eventually died last year (8 years old) and I replaced it with another banner. My personal experience of the banner is therefore favourable
  11. This is my Tillet insert, a section of laminate floor underlay/foam dampening. Is quite effective at keeping the chill off my back and derriere! It is not fixed in any way but holds itself in place ok. Just an idea if you don't have a proper insert yet
  12. -2C the other morning, I'm glad I have a heater in my 7
  13. Have you confirmed if you have a spark, in your first post it sounded a little unsure?
  14. Poole Quay is in the diary ready Have a good one!
  15. Thanks Jonathan, I'll see if I can do that....
  16. Cheers Paul, it was horrible at the time and yes it was just on the dual carriageway bit Do you always do the Wednesday Market? thought it was just Saturdays... Saw you packing up Wednesday, was coming back from a meeting in the midlands, car load of us in a job car Have a peaceful Christmas!
  17. Skoda Roomster - In the drivers door there are switches for both drivers side and passenger side electric windows. The drivers side window works as normal. However when I try to open the passenger side window using the switch in the drivers door, you can hear a slight clicking noise from the passenger side but nothing happens. But the passenger side window will operate as expected using the passenger side switch. I could understand the issue if it didn't work at all, or if there was no clicking noise from the passenger side...Strange! - anyone experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks
  18. Ha I spotted you Paul with your half-hood up today, around 3.25pm (Tuesday 25th Nov), but I don't think you saw me going the other way! (had my full hood on) I think we were both mad being out in our 7's today, weather was evil all day, I started off in hail and it was grim all day
  19. Might it not be more likely that the nosecone will ground out rather than, or at least before, the sump can? How does it compare to perhaps a ferry loading?
  20. About 3pm Sunday, bare (?) 7, travelling up Blacklands Hill, towards Devizes from Calne You overtook me, thanks for giving me plenty of room! (I was on my bicycle)

    Tax Discs

It can be done online quickly and easily and 'officially', appreciate that might not be totally practical in some circumstances but should be managable during scrutineering, and will also confirm if the car has a valid MOT DVLA site enquiry page here
  22. Any in here what you're looking for? All from Curborough2 Here
  23. Thank you! Now home and confirmed mine is 3mm too Nearside dipped headlamp blew on way to work, thought I was going to need to dive into a Halfords or similar and buy an 'allen key' and bulb, but managed to sneak out early and got home in daylight
