  1. Nice one 6speedmanual...thanks Ian,it was the recent posts that prompted my curiosity as I thought it worth a look to see if I could examine mine in the 'usual breakage points'
  2. 2nd vote for evostick - have used for the same issue previously
  3. Without wishing to temp fate, where do K Series throttle cables 'normally' break - do they usually go the same place?
  4. Ditto above - can gain access under dash - mine fell off once by itself - bit of a shock for my passenger when I tried to spray/clean the screen!
  5. Nice one Huw, you overtook me, I was totally knackered, on my bike battling uphill, against a headwind, so I only saw your back end (Ooo-er!), hence not really sure what the colour was...
  6. Spotted heading west on the A4 from Beckhampton towards Calne, about 5pm this afternoon GN07... think it was a powder blue or grey or silvery colour!!
  7. Not much help, but you may find that Plusgas has better penetration than WD40
  8. I think I used the same template to make a bracket out of.... wood (well almost... mdf I think) then used black gaffer tape to blend it

    engine coolant

Yes, yellow throughout, bought via the bulk buy a few years back. The top inner part is an area that was on the lower radiator pipe, hence not exposed to the fluid, and shows original colour. The red colour is not a 'film', ie it didn't wipe off, it's definately stained the hose
  10. Another is to draw your foot back towards you so your knee is at 90 degrees and your foot is flat on the floor - may depend on how tall you are etc but I find that helps

    engine coolant

Back to the original post - I have always used the recommended red anti freeze and changed to silicon hoses a couple of years ago or so. Today I changed my thermostat and noticed that the inside of my yellow hoses are 'stained' red by the anti freeze, presumably because the red in the anti freeze is a dye. I noticed no obvious signs of 'damage'
  12. Thanks Ian.... nearly there now!
  13. So just going to drill the hole at top of thermostat, just be sure ("measure twice, cut once" etc...) - hole poition as per this picture? Thank you
  14. Red 7, index possibly starting with an L 2 up, heading into Devizes, Wiltshire on A361 just before the short dual carriageway bit from Avebury/Marlborough direction Looked to be going quite well Flashed and waved from Red Roomster going the other way
  15. So POBC if the plugs have a lot of carbon on them, is that perhaps a sign that they are not a hot enough plug?
  16. Thanks everyone, all very useful!
  17. Thanks JK, I did search first but didn't find this one **must try harder** Thanks Ian, noted re hole (and thanks for email thoughts) Thanks Mankee, makes sense knowing my luck...
  18. standard 1600 K series 2006 I'm going to remove/test/replace/etc the thermostat and I have some questions about that process. From online pics and looking at my car the thermostat fits inside a black plastic housing The housing appears to be a push fit into the 'block' (appeciate it may or may not be the block but you know what I mean) and is secured in place by a single bolt (which also keeps the dipstick in place). Then the 2 parts of the housing itself are joined together with 3 bolts. So having undone the single securing bolt, do I need to remove the whole housing from the car, or is it 'usual/possible' to undo the 3 bolts and split the housing whilst still in plce on the car? If fully remove and then split, do I need a new O ring for refitting the housing into the 'block'? Is there a gasket between the 2 parts of the housing? Thanks!
  19. AntonyH - spooky, I was also in Staffs, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire!! Shame our paths didn't cross!

    Tyre Options

CycleSi - checkout this site - might give you an idea of the difference between the sizes http://www.willtheyfit.com/
  21. I like 'Spotted', I did a load of miles yesterday in the 7 including motorway miles and checked on here to see if a fellow enthusiast had seen me (sadly not!)
  22. I have no idea how big the captive nut is and perhaps I've missed something, but according to your stuck on tape, hasn't the pilot hole been drilled at c. 808mm rather than 803?
  23. I used some wrap on mine to 'tidy it up' after I did something stupid and cracked the nose (as per my signature pic). Might be an alternative way of achieving a cover up
