is it good forum etiquette to close off a thread once an answer has been given?

    Rev Limiter

Thanks for all the responses, I'm fairly happy now that I'll have one, so don't need tio think installing an after market one - having owned the car for 19 hours now I didn't want to find out the 'hard way'...

    Rev Limiter

Silly question time... tried a search and couldn't answer it... Would a standard K-series Academy 06 have a rev limiter fitted as standard Thanks
  5. Thanks Simon, and there's lots of useful info on your site too!
  6. That's brilliant, thanks for the pics - totally understand now (must have misread it the first time!!)
  7. Do you have a pic of what that ends up looking like? Many thanks
  8. so I take it the cooling has to be in tip top condition on the K-series.... I guess 'service interval' is going to be the same for the two engines?
  9. Here's what might seem like a silly question, but how does the economy of the two engines in stock form fare? (it is a consideration if its a commute car!!)
  10. I thought it might open up a bit of debate! I'm in the fortunate position where I might justbe able to stretch to a Sigma engined 7 and wondered whether it was worth it... some food for thought here, thanks!
  11. so if I had a choice between the two, which would be the better to go for overall? All views welcome! Thanks
  12. Saw the above in the car park for Aira Force, an impressive waterfall near Ullswater in the Lake District - aero screen and yellow nosecone, would have liked to have heard it going up Kirkstone Pass!

    Seat Widths...

thanks for all the advice, personally I'm 5'8" and medium build so don't think I'll have any problem, but 'other family members' are (ssshhhhh, not too loud) a bit wider in the hips, so was just trying to get an idea of which would be better initially to look at... Cheers

    Seat Widths...

I know I can probably look up the general widths of the standard leather seats compared the tillets, but in the real world, how do they compare for actually sitting in - which gives the greatest latitude for what we might call the bigger built passenger....?
  15. Parked (my scrappy old skoda workhorse) next to a nice looking J7RTE, green with hood up, parked up for the night at the travelodge overnight 27 / 28th August!
  16. Hmmmmm that seemed to have worked, please let me know if it doesn't for others, or whether I've just enabled the whole world to access everything on my computer! Try another one then, this one shows my yellow RS, my brother 'Beige' one (a rare colour actually, I wonder why!) and my nephews "x-pack" white RS - that was a few years ago! - (here)
  17. Not quite sure how to add a link to a photo, so here goes, if it works it will be my brother (driving) and I (reading the maps) in his 1600 MK2, single venue rally, at Wroughton Airfield near Swindon...here
  18. wow that's a great build diary, thanks for pointing it out. There's some lovely neat welding there! Still, he's missed a trick, it would look soooo much better in signal yellow or signal orange... I know I'm biased, my RS before the project one was the orange colour (shame it got nicked..)
  19. Ah well that's one of the problems, its been off the road for so long now, I've run out of steam a bit if you know what I mean...
  20. 1979 signal yellow Mk2 droopsnoot - in about 1,000 pieces scattered about my house, garage, drive etc!!
