  1. I had a similar problem, eventually traced to a dodgy fuel pump (by James Whiting by putting a sensor on it). Worth checking out, and only a few quid to replace. Col

    Petrol !

I have also been advised to use 97 octane fuel in my standard 2ltr Zetec, on carbs. This was not for the extra power output, but it was thought to be a cleaner burn, and better for the engine in general. Any thoughts? Col
  3. I was told by Redline that hey are not refurbed. I bought a new one.
  4. Yes, it is the Amalfi Coast Road, just as we came out of the national park, heading for Positano. Sue and I drove down and spent a week in Sorrento, then up to Perugia, Umbria, for another week. The photo inside LF of Calais Ferry Port is also mine - we were forced to spend another three days in France due the the strike. I have sent a travelogue LF, so the complete story may yet come out! 5. Great place Emsworth. I go there most Tuesdays (by train, sorry), and walk along the shore to the Royal Oak, Langstone, for a libation or two, then back up the Billy Line to Havant. I'm the quiet guy reading generally if anyone wants to join me. Col
  6. Just got mine from Redline.
  7. I've done this a couple of times. I put a bit if electricians tape hard up to the nut before undoing. This acts a s guide for refitting and is a bit more exact than counting turns. A squirt of WD inside the gaiter should help it on its way. Col
  8. A definate for the heater. When on, it protects my ears from abuse by SWIMBO. Nuff said.
  9. There have been a few recent lines on headlights. My non standard, small bowls with integral flashers look great, but the light output is dangerous, even with the brightest Phillips lamps. I need to change them. Someone asked when do you blat at night. As one of the non polishers, but year round drivers, the answer is just getting home after a day out safely would be great! Question to the masses - which is the best headlight to go for?
  10. This all seems a bit overkill. Just fit a switch in across the terminals of SW1. Or am I missing something? Col

    C21

Late post. Blue 21 spotted at Silverstone last Sunday. Very tidy - and had everyone guessing! Most thought it was a Ginetta. Nice touch to keep moving around the car park.
  12. I realy tried not to go the bolt route, but after the left had to be retained by a tiewrap on the 50th around Hethel, the right tied to the roll bar back from Cornwall a few months later- then the left again back from Goodwood, it had to be done. I spent a lot of time scraping the old stuff off and prepairing the underside prior to resealing, eventually to no avail. I even complained to Caterham re the first failiure, but didnt get a reply. Col
  13. Thanks lads. I'll see what the coming weeks bring. Col
  14. I had a problem over the weekend in that my 1700 RK crossflow just would not start. It lives outside, but even with the leads and distributer cap off and warmed indoors, plugs dried, filters off and carbs squirted with easy start - nothing, not a pop. Caterham have recently had the car and had changed the plugs to NGK B8ECS's. I changed them back to Champion EON5's and the car started straight away, no problem. I have a niggle in the back of my mihd that this may be a coincidence, and that the immobiliser is playing up. I would be interested in comments please. I am away a fair bit so may not respond immediately. Col

Hi to the four waving hands heading out of Lyminton Saturday morning. Colin & Sue P7 ACE Blue 1700 RK SS
  16. Guys, Is it possible to change the glass to temp, oil pressure, etc, guages? Mine are a bit hazy in some lights. If so where do I get them? Col
  17. Mail the manufacturer. They are only to happy that you have chose to use their product. Yokohama told me 18 was "about right" for road use on my S3 with A048's.
  18. Isn't it just as simple as taking a wire from each side of the temp sender to the switch. Make the switch and the fan starts through the existing relay as if the sensor had activated. Col
  19. Hi Guys, My reversing light switch seems to be stuck on. Where is the switch, and is it easy to get too / replace? Col
  20. Yes, what a great day! We wish RS all the best with his dream. Well done all. Col & Sue
  21. Probrobly me again as above, coming home from the Woodcote Rally. Col
  22. Guilty! My cousin is on the commitee, so we usually go. Great day out to see cars and bikes that used to be common in my youth! The steam traction engines and rollers are a bit before my time though, and being a city boy I tend to glaze over at the tractors! Col & Sue
  23. Yes, I was also a stionary traveller on the M25 - for over an hour, but managed to inform CC of my predicament. Spent most of the day there and left just as the rain started. Arrived home wet but still smiling! Col C.J.Cooper
  24. Cheers. Was at CC for a bit of a check over. Marvelous service plus coffee, buscuits - and a free token for the mobile cafe up the road. Thanks Sharon! It would'nt be correct for me to comment as to why the checkover was required. Enough to say that I drove home a lot moe confidently than I drove up. Col C.J.Cooper
  25. I've just had quite a bit of work done by Chris at The 7 Workshop. Part of this was to fit wide track & smaller headlights with integral indicators. This lowers the headlight by the height of the indicators.
