  1. GriffChris / DougBaker Aero? No, the answer is a screen and half hood. Helmets on a public road; you boys! Col
  2. I think I will be in a similar position soon, Sue's already there - a car with door I mean! And a better hood would be nice. I've been looking, just casually, for a more age friendly replacement, and apart from modern stuff, they are way out of my price bracket. Even Morris Oxford convertibles (MGB's) have shot up in price in recent years. For the same price as I would probably get for my 7, I can only see stuff like Lotus M100, Reliant Scimitar GTC, the odd TVR, and for a bit more; Lotus Elise or VX220. I can hear every one shouting MX5, but I'm hoping for something a bit more exclusive. Any suggestions? Col
  3. I always use Redline. Overnight post generally. Col
  4. I have a spare, but in ten years have never had to use it. A couple of thoughts though; a bit like the AA, you would only have to use it once to see how useful it may be, and if touring, especially abroad, how easy would it be to replace? I'll stick with mine I think. Col
  5. I am willing to tough out a world cruise should anyone not be able to make it.
  6. Martin, Exactly my comment on the breakfast club survey this morning. Too many new cars allowed infield, not enough mix of old & new. Col
  7. I've never seen it so busy! Joined a queue of perhaps twenty various Ferraris, Porches, Maclarens and a lone TVR's at Petersfield, and followed over Harting Down. Then had to queue to get into the car park. Never done that before. And all before eight o'clock! Col
  8. Another one for the cable tie. I managed to catch the clutch pedal and flip it up enough to release the ball - in second going round a roundabout.
  9. I knew he was innocent! I'll get my coat.........................
  10. Chris, I use mine all year round - see Feb on the calendar - and have done for the last ten years. Col
  11. Could have been me coming back from Oxted for a consultation. Going back next week to have the seats 'refreshed'. My 7 is the wimp version wth a heater; surprisingly cozy with half the tonneau in place, and both doors. Col
  12. I would still suggest checking the fuel pump. There was no obvious sign of fuel shortage, and misfires as you describe. Of course once the engine was off load, all was well. It took James Whiting quite a time to find, and then only by putting a pressure gauge in the line. Its also a cheep part to replace. Col
  13. Micheal, Is it a Stormforce or a Monsoon?, both supplied by Coverzone The Monsoon is a winter only cover. I know because I bought the wrong one for continual outdoor use, and it fell apart before the year was out. Coverzone were brilliant about it, and only charged me the difference between the correct Stormforce all weather cover. Col
  14. Duckpit, It may be worth checking the fuel pump. I had a similar problem some time ago. All seemed well, then a misfire & loss of power. On stopping to check leads, it gave the pump time to work up to pressure. This was eventually found by James Whiting putting a pressure guage on the pump. Bloody annoying at the time. Good luck, Col
  15. Jochen, I have one you are welcome too if the key ring idea doesn't work. Col
  16. richtimms There are a lot of young women around here that would be in your predicament. Wide beamed and short legged, generally wearing leggings & pushing a pram. Just saying.
  17. You may also be able to get one from a bike charity. I took two into my local one the other day. They refurb what needs doing and sell them on. Col
  18. I thought i was the only one driving a stealth 7, apparently not! I'm also invisible to most barmaids. Col
  19. Just shows you what I know!!! Yes, Michael you are correct. The car already has am Omex 200. Perhaps a trip to a rolling road would help reduce the emissions that my MOT tester shakes his head at. Col
  20. Alan, No I hadn't thought about that. I would be interested to know more about it though. Col
  21. Michael & Elie, Thank you both for you inputs, and Michael for the inserts. If it was just 'under the hood' work, I would probably go ahead, but changing the tank, etc, I don't think so. I already have more than enough power at 175bhp, and was really only looking to add smoothness, and economy. Thanks anyway. Col
  22. Hi Guys, I am considering going from carbs to TB's for my standard Raceline 2ltr blacktop Zetec. Omex have given me a few hints as have various blogs, but a lot is still unclear to a non-mechanic. I am thinking of going with the Omex 170bhp kit, but this only goes so far re the total work required. Do I need to change the fuel tank, and run dual fuel pipes? Has anyone gone down this route who could offer a few pointers. Cheers, Col
  23. i could lend you SWIMBO for a bit if you want.......................................................
