  1. I've got a drivers side one on order with Demon Tweeks. They are expecting a delivery today i believe. Col
  2. I also went for Rainexperts after the Yoko's stopped. A softer sidewall than the track day tyres, so ideal for touring. Col
  3. More sad than unusual. Looks to be complete apart from the running board. Also looks like it was just parked and left. Seen in Cowbridge on a recent trip up north. Col
  4. JP, I run a 1996 Supersprint with 2ltr Zetec on twin 45's. I do the same as Shaun #2. Print off the relevant section in the MOT guide, and hand it to the tester. Never had a problem. Col
  5. Another thumbs up for the Uniroyal Rain Expert 5. Col
  6. Not unusual in in the UK, but this trio was spotted at a small classic display in Courseulles sue Mer, Normandy, last Sunday. Couldn't get near a mint Matra Simca Bageera for a photo though!
  7. Again try Redline. I think they only appeared on the '96 cars. Col
  8. Sounds like you were coming to / from Compton Abbas. I was there around 9.15, and as the cafe doesn't open until 10.00, and nobody else was around, i pootled off home (Southampton). On the way I waved at a yellow 7 at Sherfield English coming from Romsey. Same car?? Lovely morning to be out in a 7! Col Blue; P7 ACE
  9. 4# My first ever dinky car Stephen! Col
  10. I'm a bit surprised Sevens & Classics didn't sort the gauge out before selling the car to you. I run a Raceline 2ltr Blacktop Zetec on 45's. Like Guy I don't think the pump has a pressure switch - it just runs. Col
  11. Geester, Welcome! I have run the Rainexpert 3, without problems, for a couple of yeas now, following the demise of Yokohama 048's, that I had used for more than 10 years. It all depends on the use of the car. Mine is used for touring and is not tracked, so a road tyre works well. The Yoko's were a road legal trackday tyre, with a stiff sidewall and square profile. The Uniroyal has a much softer sidewall, and a more rounded profile, so gives a much smother ride (that swimbo prefers!) I had Nitron shocks and a flat floor setup after fitting the Uniroyals and have had no problems at all. My car is a 175BHP Zetec, on 185 60 14 tyres. If you intend to track the car, or have more power, then one of the Trackday tyres might suit you better. There is much recent chatter on this subject on Blatchat! Col
  12. Not much help, but I have always used a hacksaw blade on all the cars i have had since 1965! Col
  13. Another thumbs up for the Uniroyals. I have the 185 60 14 on my 175bhp Zetec with no problems. I ran Yoko 032, and then 048's until they stopped making them for the road. Being a straight road tyre, the profile is less square than the track types, but the car is only used for touring. Col
  14. I had a similar problem. It took ages to sort, but James Whiting eventually traced the problem to an occasional fault in the fuel pump. A new £20.00 pump sorted it. Col

  16. I had a similar problem when I had fitted a 2ltr Blacktop Zetec, and retained the 45's from the old crossflow, but it didn't bother me to much. Part of the charm. I looked into fuel injection, and the cost of the injectors, etc, was manageable, but I balked at the extra fuel line, new tank and pump. I took the car to Northampton Motor Sport, for a rolling road tune up, where Troy did drill extra progression holes. Much more drivable, not cheap, but a better option. Col

    Crossflow MOT

I also have a 1996 car, albeit now with a Zetec engine on carbs. I just copy the Gov 'In Service Exhaust Emission Standards' (19th edition 2017) front piece, page two that states kit cars used before 1998 are to be tested as a 1975 car, and table one highlighted to show that no tests of any kind are required, and hand it to the tester. I have never had a problem. The Zetec is obviously newer than '96, but this has never been an issue. There is no way it would pass a modern test what with twin 45 Webers and a straight through exhaust! Col

    Misfire

Hi Tigs, Shame you couldn't make it; perhaps it just needed a bit of right foot to clear it. Pleased its sorted now though. See you next time . Col
  19. My usual route to Goodwood from Southampton goes; Bishops Waltham, B3035 up over Corehampton Down to Corehamapton, A32 to West Meon, A272 to Petersfield. A short sections of the A3, and A272, and a couple of hundred yards on the old A3, now the B2070. Right on the B2199, and left at the end of the road on the B2146 to South Harting. Right by the White Hart and a short section of the B2146. Once through the village, left uphill on the B2141 and up over Harting Down. At the end of this section turn left on to the A286 through West Dean. Turn Right at Singleton uphill past the Weald & Downland museum and Goodwood racecourse, and downhill to Goodwood motor circuit. From Goodwood I generally go back along the road a couple of hundred yards to the first roundabout, turn right and make my way to the A285 to Petworth. Then its A272 to Midhurst, Petersfeild, and a reverse of the top line. Best done early, before the traffic builds up, especially on the A272. Hope this helps, Col
  20. Looks like a good article for LF! Col
  21. I have the same mirrors, but mounted on the windscreen frame. I removed mine completely, then with the 'lozenge in a vice, tightened as much as possible with and extension on the Allen key. Col
  22. That says something about the Morgan car Club....................
  23. I use the sticky pads. I had the same problem - kept falling off, until I used two G clamps and left it for a couple of hours. Still there after five years. Col
  24. I also went down the Zetec route (fitted by James Whiting) and have never regretted it. Better car all round, more ultimate power - 175bhp in basic unmodified trim - and loads more grunt. Col
