  1. Tom. The lecture on drag was fascinating it would be better to start with a car which is more aerodynamic It would be interesting to compare top speed of the Seven, Elise, Exige, Zenos (when available) Thanks Chris
  2. The car should run at higher revs regardless of the dynamo/alternator provided the battery is fully charged . . . You have put loads of effort into investigating the dyanmo - it does not sound like a dynamo problem.
  3. I had a problem withan HPC7 when the engine revs were in the range 2500 to 3000. It was eventually traced by Caterham to the connector which joins the wiring looms together. The car was stored in a damp garage . . . It took Caterham a few hours to find the problem. Believe the connector joints were remade and the whole lot wrapped in tape.
  4. BGH provide a mostly new 5-speed gearbox which is also much stronger, their latest design has improved lubrication and is easier to use. It was also a chance to improve the gear ratios. More strength means that the gear box is a not a weak link if the engine was more powerful. Massive
  5. Also interested in alternative 16 inch wheels Edited by - Chris Cardwell on 15 Aug 2013 19:20:26
  6. My steering wheel vibration was cured by changing . . . the engine mounts
  7. Also recommend . . . Watch Doctors in Tring - paid £200 for a full service and some new parts for a Rolex GMT Master type 1 Watch was service in 8 days.
  8. James Whiting ran the wire inside the roll bar. I am pleased with the upgrade from the initial rollbar to taller rollbar and the lght was fitted at the same time.
  9. I have the slim edition from Europa Car Spares. See reverse and fog lights The slim versions are consistent with the shape of the car which is rectangular at the rear. It does not make sense to fit something which is square and much larger than necessary.
  10. There is hope for customers of the future
  11. Roger I was hoping the windscreen also provided downforce as well acting as an air brake. You should be able to brake harder with more downforce The cheapest upgrade is to remove the windscreen
  12. Wishful thinking on my part. Perhaps a large gap along the bottom of the screen and tilted back towards the driver would help create downforce.
  13. Does the windscreen add any significant downforce to a 7? Compared with the back spoler on exotic supercars the windscreen is a significant size Has anyone tried to measure the downforce
  14. Another BGH fan, there gearbox now takes more power with improved oil lubrication than when first designed. Has been tested in drag race cars with much more power
  15. Would it be posible to experiment with a small sheet of aluminum positioned where the bonnet touches the nose cone. Otherwise add an industrial robot to the EFA list of techniques . . .
  16. Roger I recommend Computer Planet who also build customer-defined systems. As already mentioned desktop systems are built using standard parts so they can be quickly repaired by yourself or a local expert. With an a cheap HP computer I got used to changing the power supply in 30 minutes.
  17. I have a semi helical mainly-new 5 speed gear box from BGH, it is as quiet as a normal 5 speed gear box! Very pleased with the revised ratios and improved design. Edited by - Chris Cardwell on 17 Mar 2012 18:35:18
  18. I had a similar experience at at 70 mph that was fixed by replacing the engine mounts.
  19. Thanks everyone I suspect there is not enough real interest to make the effort worthwhile. A quick test, scanned Low Flying for October 1993 - pdf file size 38.4 Mbytes A document created using Adobe Acrobat would be smaller.
  20. Boris I don't mind which pdf solution is offered I was trying to suggest something which does not compete with the status quo, or cause a heated argument. Newspapers recognise that their circulation is gradually becoming digital. The obviouse question is when will publications be predominately digital? The pdf version could reduce costs or generate extra revenue for the club. One obviouse problem would be the printing cost being related to a given circulation figure - it may not be viable to only print 1000 copies of Low Flying - the advertising revenue may also be influenced. A reduction in postal charges would be welcomed.
  21. Would it be possible to have a pdf verion of the monthly magazine to save space? Have recently bought a scanner and I could cut the magazine into A4 pages and scan the magazine into a single pdf file for easy storage. I don't mind if the printed version was issued first and the pdf version was only available for previous years . . . I am NOT suggesting a pdf version is issued each month. Will soon have to choose whether to throw away back copies of Low Flying or scan them. Will not provide pdf copies to other people unless permitted by the club. Members could of couse buy a CD with last years Low Flying as an alternative to a magazine binder. Any thoughts would be appreciated
