#4 What a lovely thing that is!
  2. These look very good, and a reasonable price too. I wonder which base technology this is based on,.... Peltor perhaps?
  3. I have to say, looking at it from the outside, it does look suspiciously like the Sierra diff plug!!
  4. Thank you for your replies and advice. That really helpful !
  5. That's really helpful, thank you. I had read that the fill and drain were different sizes (I mean why wouldn't they be!) Mine is an SV too so hopefully there will be enough room to reach the fill plug. I have read elsewhere that a stubby allen key works well, but i also like your idea of the piece of hex and a long 10mm spanner.
  6. Would anyone know what the size is for the drain plug as i am looking to replace it with a magnetic one. Additionally if anyone has already done this, have there been any issues with clearance against the tunnel and length of the replacement plug?
  7. I have one of these. Excellent, but relatively large and heavy, so maneuvering may be tricky if space is tight. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj2-5lp-low-profile-garage-trolley-jack
  8. Having read through previous threads regarding engine oil i would be interested to hear if there has been any shift in opinion and thoughts on what people are using for higher BHP engines and the rationale behind it? - 5w50 vs 10w60 etc
  9. Or these https://sena-industrial.eu/collections/communication-headsets-with-hearing-protection
  10. Thanks Jonathan,.... that's really helpful. The expectation of the reduction in volume to protect hearing is the interesting bit!
  11. I think there is a distinction here.... On one hand there are passive attenuation headsets that have noise canceling built in, and then there are primarily noise canceling headsets (On, over, or in ear) that may be used as/instead of hearing protection. So there may be questions around the impact of the noise canceling element in both cases, and also with one type vs the other
  12. I too am suspecting there isn't much. I've had a quick Google but don't have access to an academic library to see if there has been any research. I would imagine it wont be too long before there is something published ...... if anyone needs a topic for research.....
  13. As a side thought, and thinking out loud, i do wonder if there has been any research into the use of noise canceling headsets instead of hearing protection headsets, and if there is any long term effect on hearing as a result? I am assuming that the noise canceling variety introduce the an opposing sound to the ambient ones that are being picked up and therefore canceling out that sound, but does that have an effect on the ear? I think this may be an interesting topic for a paper or two sometime in the future given the popularity of noise canceling headphones...... if it hasn't been done already? Jonathan ??
  14. These look to be an ideal solution but im unsure they will be available in the right size. These are from an undertray kit for an Exige. If anyone knows of anywhere that can supply something like this it would be handy!
  15. #10 Does yours 'Give' enough to remove the cap from underneath it? then potentially only needing to cut a window in the tongue as mentioned before? Im wondering if there are any other QR fasteners that are in ally or similar rather than plastic, for longevity
  16. You are quite right that filling through the engine top filler is possible, however without checking the oil level in the DS tank its impossible to know if you need to fill or not due to lack of dipstick.
  17. Thats interesting, and very handy! Mine is, as you can see, completely different which makes oil checking and filling much more difficult. So far i think the 2 options are as 7 Wonders has suggested to cut an inspection window in it, but this is on the assumption that i can remove the cap with it in place (Which admittedly ive not attempted yet), or alternatively to cut the tongue wide enough to access the whole cap in a large U shape.
  18. Ahhh, so still removing the cap with the plastic in place, rather than remodeling the plastic to be able to reach the cap from above?
  19. Can i be the only one with this annoyance on their car??
  20. I can vouch for these. I have one that has lasted me years. Warm and windproof and if you are particularly adventurous they can be worn next to the skin with no baselayer!
  21. Has anyone successfully modified the plastic wind deflector behind the radiator of some models in order to improve access to the oil cap on the dry sump tank to enable easier oil level checking?
  22. I had the same questions regarding my diff after i purchased mine, Martin.Phipps@caterham.com was incredibly helpful as the Caterham archivist. That would be a good start providing its still the original diff. Im sure there will be some very good technical replies along very shortly to explain how to work out what may be fitted.
  23. Thanks Jonathan, that's really helpful! ...... I wonder if anyone that posted initially has any updates?
  24. Does anyone have any experience of the 'Highsider Jackson' LED headlights? They appear for sale for motorcycles but seem suitable for Caterhams and also appear to be very very similar to the ones CC are selling. Ive only managed to find them for sale in Europe so perhaps some of our European members may be able to comment?
