  1. As with all these things there is a lot of careful thought and research that goes in to the simplest items. Once you start to delve into the finer details it opens into a huge topic!! Fascinating.
  2. Im watching with interest. Chris, how many miles has yours done ?
  3. Feel free to shout if you need a willing apprentice Chris !
  4. @ #92 - Its the "All you need do is remove and refitt the final drive assembly" thats the problem !
  5. @ #90 No problem Chris. I have all sorts of noises and clattering coming from mine (3000 miles but apparently its ok?), so im considering a Tracsport, but ideally i need someone to get in there and make sure that its all adjusted properly first and then take it from there!
  6. #74 - If you drop Martin Phipps an email (Caterham archivist) with your chassis number, he can tell you what the original shipped unit was. Martin.Phipps@Caterham.com. He was really helpful when i asked about mine (Ford diff with Titan LSD for me)
  7. I will second this with my Duratec. I dont have exact measurements, but i have noticed that the oil temp is slow to rise, unlike the water temp which is far quicker. Is this another case of TADTS ?
  8. These are 24db ..... again, for a price! https://www.talkingheadsets.co.uk/product/sena-tufftalk-headset/
  9. Ive looked at solving this hearing protection/comms issue myself and have seen these from another thread .. https://sena-industrial.eu/collections/communication-headsets-with-hearing-protection/products/tufftalk-lite?variant=37545784246441 These seem to be able to do the lot, including bluetooth and comms with another similar headset. Granted this is not a cheap solution, however seems that it will cover all angles if you are ok with wearing 'On ear' protection. An added benefit of the bluetooth design is that there is no wiring for the intercom and it will double up as a link to the phone or music at the same time.
  10. I was looking the worse for wear going the other way on my bike!

    Remove Nose

Am i right in thinking there is a version of the Dzus fastener that can be undone by hand without a screwdriver or similar?
  12. I have a 2012 R500sv which has done 3300 miles, with a Ford Diff which bangs, clatters and whines and sounds like you are driving over iron manhole covers. A friend tested the preload on it and essentially there is well under 20ft/lb. Is there a way of finding out what type of LSD is fitted and if this is the diff needing replacing or if it a peculiarity of what was fitted to the R500 at the time?

    R500D De-cat

Thanks everyone, ... presumably it really is as simple as unbolt the existing and straight swap for the replacement? or are there some knacks and tricks to doing it nice and simply?

    R500D De-cat

Bit of a daft/naive question about a cat bypass for my R500D, what are the pros and cons of the bypass, and once completed what happens to the sensor that was attached to the cat?
  15. You, as I have, will now discover the phrase TADTS
  16. Welcome Geester, im also a new owner and there are a few others here too!
  17. I have nightmares of a journey in a 1275GT in my youth! I think there is definitely some mileage in some drives around there, and im sure there are some suitable refreshment stops too!
  18. Watsapp sounds good to me, .... or Signal or Telegram if people arent keen on Facebook hoovering up every last nugget of their data! If anyone local would like to message me their numbers i'll gladly start a group! Tomorrow would be ideal however im back at work so will miss out unfortunately, although that route is nice and local for me so well worth putting on the list for another time!
  19. Being new to this i am open to suggestions on how best to get a few of us together at short notice?
  20. Thanks for the replies everyone! Im in South Beds but again within easy reach of everyone here i think. if anyone is going out then feel free to shout and ill happily come along, and likewise if i am planning a blat out i will put it out there.
  21. Are there any 7 owners in Bedfordshire that would be up for impromptu blats?
  22. Oh and so it begins .......
  23. Well it looks like that's settled for me and an order going in for an SGS 2.5T Now, remind me of the best jacking points for an R500sv. ........ (Lights blue touchpaper......)
  24. #3 Thank you ... i was leaning towards this one and realised that it was on the substantial side! Looks like it has a really good lifting range too. Thanks for the heads up on the Clarke jack too!
