  1. Thanks Mick, I can understand (with my very limited knowledge), the baffle will help prevent surge but I believe the foam was only there to prevent aeration of the oil. Would be interested if anyone has found and fitted something more durable than the basic dish sponge.
  2. There must be a middle ground. Any K owners used something more durable, like a metal mesh or similar rather than the foam? I replace the foam every 4th service, it has always been intact and healthy (looking). However, I drive like Miss Daisy and maybe continue to just be lucky. Every time I read similar posts I get nervous so will remove this summer. Just amazed there has not been a good working alternative.
  3. I had the same problem several years back. Bolt sheared flush with the tube. Asked the same questions as you have and in the end purchased a new tube as the modern version is stronger and trying to get the old bolt (remains out) was proving more trouble than it was worth.
  4. Thanks. It’s not a lowered floor but no holes exist in the cross member under the seat. I assume they are all like that and just require drilling.
  5. Hi All, I have purchased a side intrusion bar, old school, to fit an imperial S3 1999 vintage. No fixing bolts. Can anyone advise what the bolt size is for the top bolt that connects the SIB to, what I believe, is the mounting point for the inertia seatbelt? I also need to drill the 2 mounting points in the floor. Anyone have any idea what size bolts are required here and any tips on alignment/ fitting? In fact, any info welcome. I appreciate that if anyone has fitted one of these, it was probably 20 plus years ago🫤 Thanks for reading, Bob
  6. Any one got one of these that they want to part with?
  7. During my diy service, I noticed very light coolant staining which appears to be from the base of the water pump. It's 24 years old and cam belt is dead on 5 years. Have verniers fitted so don't fancy doing this myself. Fluid level does not appear to have dropped and not wet there when cold. Assume a new pump / belt is required?
  8. Just been officially advised by Caterham Cars this will not fit☹️ No surprise really but it was worth a punt.
  9. SIDE IMPACT BAR RH S3 METRIC CHASSIS (30P306A) Your Question: I know it advises metric but can it fit or be made to fit a K series 1999 imperial chassis?
  10. Thanks for the very prompt replies and advice. Much appreciated.
  11. Standard ARB, 23 years old. The dust covers are poor and need replacing. PWill change the balls also. Any tips for removal or is it just unbolt from the chassis and pull? Not sure what sort of tension is in there. What grease to use? Thansks, Bob
