Judging by relatively small interest, I would say that 10 people is probably the best point for this to go ahead. Most of the savings have been had at this number. Have emailed Dave at Powerspeed to find out how he wants us to proceed, when we have the numbers.

If I have you down incorrectly then let me know.

Dave at Powerspeed has said that a £150 deposit is required with balance payable on completion.

I think it is worth waiting till we have 10 people as its worth an extra £50 off.

Hey all,

Still keen but not quite a defo yet.

One simple and very superficial question. I've got a 1.4K Supersport with the normal MEMS which I'm hoping the 4-2-1 will improve a little. Is there much chance of getting any pops and bangs on the overrun with the powerspeed setup? Something my 1.4 doesn't do anywhere near enough of at the moment with the cat and standard exhaust :)

ohh, is it upgrade time? :)

Shame, thanks for the feedback though.

One other quick question, I don't suppose anyone has managed to quantify (eg through a rolling road) the improvement in torque (which is where I believe the main benifit is) from a cat'd standard exhaust to a non-cat'd powerspeed?

Sorry to ask silly questions, but the bank manager needs some justification aside from it sounds better 😬

Martin, I RR mine with the cat'd short primary system before changing to the Powerspeed system with the intention of returning to see the exact power gain. Unfortunately never got round to it, and the RR appears to have gone (Camberley RR).

Subjectively there is a difference - putting the cat'd system back on for the MOT left the cat feeling strangulated and a bit asthmatic at high rev's - reverting back removed that.

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works (excuse the pun) but im in the process of having a race style exhuast made for my roadsport. The company im using have made very high quality manifolds and system for the company i work for ,an Aston Martin specialist, in the past.

It was my plan to fit there exhuast and get the car on the rolling road to measure any gains and also how loud it was, before putting together a bulk buy.

If everyone was prepaired to wait around 2 weeks i should have the results.

The systems would probably come in at around £100 cheaper than the Powerspeed systems.

Options would include, polished and re-packable, they would also come with a life time gaurantee

I may be interested. I'm coming at it from the point of view of my R300 being too noisy at trackdays using the standard exhaust silencer, either with or without the cat. Is the Powerspeed a complete system which could be exchanged for the standard one come MOT time? Does the Powerspeed system sound good but, er, quiet enough to pass all current noise tests?

Pttm,

I have the Powerspeed exhaust. It is a complete system - headers all the way back to the silencer and exit pipe. I asked Powerspeed to adapt my old short collector system (with cat) so I could easily swap for the MOT - which I did last month without any problems. You could keep the whole system intact and swap that instead, though I think that would be harder. I think the system sounds good (definitely compared with the old system), and is quiet enough for tracks days (mine measures 95-97db, depending on conditions and engine temp - it's a 1.6K supersport)

Bozz,

I wouldn't of thought so. Everyone speaks highly of his hole cutting.

In comparison, I think Caterham charge 2 hours labour to fit an exhaust.

CC gave me an estimate of approximately two hours to fit a 4-1 in place of the short-primary std. zorst a couple of years back. They said they couldn't give a firm quote in case they ran into problems (read seized/corroded studs etc.)

Can't remember how long it took us to do Delberts exhaust last year, but it was well under the 4-hours it took to do mine originally.

Having had confirmation from Dave at Powerspeed that the exhaust will fit SV's with no change to the price I'm moving from a "maybe" to a "definitely"

Since this thread has gone a bit quiet I thought I'd reproduce the last list, amended with my details.

By my calculations we need another 1 to get to 10.

I have just had a reply from Dave, and he is happy to let us have the 10+ price even though we are only 9 so far. As far as I know you just have to get the deposit to him. Will let you know if I here different.

Oh and apparently we are getting stainless steal flanges at no extra cost. Haven't a clue what this means but boy am I excited. 😬
