  1. Ed, No problem. Probably some useful bits in there. If Ian is coming in a tin top to pick up his alternator, he might be able to get the bits 60 miles closer to you if you want to arrange Gonads. If your work collegue is interested, I will be selling the 350 Bullet engine in the next few months as I'm converting my Enfield into a diesel! I also have enough bits for another diesel conversion if he wants a bike that sounds like a cement mixer but does 200mpg Bruce.
  2. No problem Ian :-) I'll try and get a photo to you tomorrow (The Alternator is currently at my Son's house in Hythe). Better still, just take it and sort the payment when your happy with it. Should be around Boxing Day but can always leave it in the porch. I might even let you sit in my new Elise! Bruce.
  3. Hi, I've been clearing out my attic. My Son has shifted most of the 30 years worth of hoarded stuff on e bay (for a 50% commission!) But I have the following left over: K series alternator I got it second hand (good condition) but think it was for an EU3 car as it didn't fit my EU2 Caterham. I can e mail photo's if necessary. Offers around £30? I would prefer pick up from Kent. SOLD to SM25T Loads of Royal Enfield 350/500 Bullet bits including exhausts, engine parts, battery boxes, number plate/rear light assemblies etc. Free to any one who want's to pick it up. Next stop will be the tip! 'Dibbed' by Ed White 2 Unicycles. 1 Adult 20" wheel good qualiy (home made) 1 kids (up to about 14 years) 16" wheel (shop bought) £20 each or £30 for both. This would be pick up from CT21 also. Sold :-) I have various 30 year old spares and bits including part of an original Lotus Twin Cam Head Gasket Set, a 'Mountney' steering wheel Ally centre (off one of my Mini's no doubt) etc FOC if anyone wants to pick it up. Again, next stop will be the tip! Chucked I will put a donation to NTL from any proceeds. I will put a copy of this ad on the SELOC forum next week if no interest here. Bruce.
  4. Same offer here. I can fit some cable ties if needed. and jack the car up to check. I'm near Hythe. Near J11 M20 if it helps. 01303 260665 Bruce.
  5. Sold to Ralf and destined for Germany subject to completion
  6. Quoting McBreadhead: Bruce, Can I ask what horsepower that makes? The simple answer is I haven't a clue! It has significantly more torque than the 1400ss engine but it isn't as 'revvy'. I managed a 0-60 time at Dunsford of 4.9 secs but don't know how accurate that is. I would guess in the region of 130bhp but it has the potential to go to 150+ bhp with throttle bodies and an Emerald ECU (i.e. R300 spec). Bruce.
  7. Ian, This is the most fun car I have ever owned but with 4 motorbikes and 2 cars I find myself using it less and less 😔 I intend to build my 'yellow peril' diesel motorbike replica over the winter so space is getting a bit limited around here! I also need to replace my daily runabout soon. If I use the money from the 7, I will look at Mini Coopers. If the 7 doesn't sell, I will look at 2nd hand Toyota Aygo's and keep the 7 to break the boredom. I haven't told my wife I may have to put a tow bar on her Fiat 500 to get my Trials bikes to competitions if I go the Aygo route. I was even thinking about getting a Red Bull Mini and turning it into a pick up but that's just another project! Bruce.
  8. O.k. I added links from my photo bucket account which has recent photos of my Caterham but for some reason you can see all my photos on there! 😳 Nothing incriminating though 😬 I also took some additional photos of the corrosion today. I can e mail these separately if it helps. To save myself answering the same questions please note the following: The car is factory built (not a Q plate) I was originally going to refit the 1400ss engine to sell the car and then sell the R300 engine separately. Therefore the Registration Doc still has the original engine number in it and the 1400ss engine goes with the car. Hope this helps. Bruce. Edited by - Brucey on 27 Jul 2014 16:24:40
  9. For the people who have e mailed me already I'll get some photo's out to you tomorrow. Thanks, Bruce.
  10. After 10 brilliant years of ownership it is time for someone else to enjoy this lovely little car. This is the advert I will be placing on Piston Heads shortly. It returns around 40mpg with a 200 mile range on a tank of fuel. The bodywork is in good condition for the age and mileage but not immaculate. The original clamshell holes are still visible and there is some minor corrosion on the side skins. There are the usual star cracks on the glassfibre panels. All the aluminium panels are painted BRG. I have recently fitted the Avon Z3 tyres and have to admit they are not as nice as the Yoko 539’s previously fitted (no longer available in 14”) however; they are fine for my usage. Any questions or photo’s please blat mail me. I have already been offered £9000 from a local specialist dealer so no silly offers please. here here here here here here Edited by - brucey on 25 Jul 2014 21:57:42 Edited by - brucey on 25 Jul 2014 21:58:20 Edited by - brucey on 27 Jul 2014 15:29:17 Edited by - brucey on 27 Jul 2014 15:30:57 Edited by - brucey on 27 Jul 2014 15:33:42 Edited by - brucey on 27 Jul 2014 21:34:58 Edited by - brucey on 31 Jul 2014 09:11:26
  11. Now on e bay with photos, video etc. ebay link
  12. My Son has now put the Enfield on E bay. ebay link There is a bit more detail and some photos. Bruce. Edited by - Brucey on 5 Jul 2014 21:18:27
  13. Roger, It currently has a dual seat fitted because my Son used to take his girlfriend on the back. However, it comes with a single seat as well. I have a single seat fitted to my fairly ropey trials Bullet and although it looks nice. I have to say the dual seat is slightly more comfortable. However, this may just be because his lower mileage shocks work better! If you blatmail me your e mail address, I'll send some photos....or get my Son to do it! 14. Following on from my jet wash ad! I bought this bike around 6 months ago to convert into a diesel engine motorbike. The previous owner had passed away but it was clearly his pride and joy. He did 240 miles on it in the 10 years he owned it. It has done around 1,800 miles in total! The bike has had various parts canged to make it as near to the original UK spec bike as possible (rear number plate and lamp assy, front number plate added, Amal carb, chrome handlebar choke lever etc etc). I have since bought a much rougher bike that I don't mind taking a hacksaw to! My son has been riding it for the last 6 months and he has given it a really good shake down, changing bits where necessary to make it nicer to ride (wider handlebars, bigger levers etc). His insurance has now run out and I really can't justify the 4 motorbikes and 2 cars I currently own! I have ridden it and it is truley the spirit of the 50's. Don't expect to get anywhere fast but do expect to get a lot of waves and attention as you cruise along the A and B roads. I'm looking for offers around £1,550. It will be going on e bay soon. Contact me if you or anyone you know may be interested. Bruce.
  15. I need a battery (preferably round post) that gives 12v and holds a charge to fit to my 10hp diesel (electric start) jet wash. I'm currently using a booster pack which I believe uses a medium size motorbike battery. This works fine. I can get a new one in Halfords for about £45 but I'm only fitting it to sell the jet wash. (see for sale) I usually use the pull start, but there is nothing like just turning a key to start your 10hp internal combustion engine jet wash! Bruce.
  16. I bought this jet wash to use the 10hp electric start diesel engine in a diesel engine motorbike project. I now find myself with 3 Robin Diesel engines and the intention to build only 1 bike! The jet wash is really too good to strip just for the engine and in good working order. The only thing currently missing is a small car battery (see wanted) for the electric start. I currently use a booster pack or a couple of pulls of the hand start to get it running. I will shortly be putting it on e bay but if you, or anyone you know is looking for a free standing, powerful jet wash let me know. I will consider offers around £550 (these are well over £1000 new!) A 25lt bowser (included) full of water will last around 10 mins and wash a medium size off road car. It uses less water than a running tap. Other uses include block paving, bin cleaning business, off road motor bikes, boats, plant/equipment etc etc It is on wheels and can be pushed around easily. It will fit in the back of a small van or estate car but bear in mind it weighs around 80kg if you need to lift it. I have taken a video of it running which my Son is going to load onto Youtube. If you want any more information, blatmail me. Bruce.
  17. A guy at work has a new Ducati 1199 Panigale. I would love one of these £25K super bikes but wouldn't know if I would ride it or just look at it!
  18. Thanks for the info I'm 5'8 😔 I'm 55 and took my bike test when I was 17 but don't really do road bikes. I ride a pre 65 Tiger Cub at Club trials and am building a diesel Enfield. However, I really enjoy cruising to work around the back lanes on my GS. It's a bit of an adventure (like driving the 7) Probably couldn't get that one past the missus! (as much as I'd love to).
  19. Hi, what seat height does your BMW GS have? I was considering one of these but opted for an 07 GS650 Dakar instead as I was worried my puny 29" inside leg wouldn't reach the ground! I also have to reverse my bike up a small ramp to park it next to the 7 in my garage. Having said that, I was looking at a 1200 GS the other day and thought the seat was actually lower than mine! Lovely looking bike by the way. Bruce.
  20. I have these seats in my 1993 S3. The passengers front portion slips forwards like yours. I think there is an 'R' clip at 1 end and the other end should be fixed. I normally have mine as far back as they go and just push it into position. You may have to remove the seat to see what's come loose. Bruce.
  21. Have e mailed my Son who is looking for a cheap auto for his girlfriend. Bruce.
  22. I have some good (recently powder coated) Clam Shell wing stays somewhere in the attic if you have trouble getting some. The clamshells definitely gave better protection both from the wet and from people touching the exhaust. However, I do like watching my front wheels bounce up and down! Bruce.
  23. Thanks for the info Ian. I plan on attending the Lydden Races to watch. BARC events are always friendly and informal and I've seen some great racing at Lydden in the past. Any other Kent Caterham's racing or attending?
  24. I bought a Halfrauds 'Elite' Turbo Trainer just after Xmas. I think they are still on offer at £75 in the Ashford, Kent store. (I can confirm if you want). I paid about £90 with front wheel wheel riser stand and mat. I only went in to buy a headlamp bulb for my wifes Fiat 500 😔 My Son has now stolen it from me and put it in his home gym! but it did the job well and seems good for the money. However, I only used it all of 15 mins! My son is attaching a cheap speedo with the pick up on the back wheel to monitor his speed and distance. 😶‍🌫️ Bruce Just checked lunch time. Looks lke you are right. Turbo Trainer £99 (mine was £75 and supposidly 1/2 price!) Riser £10 (worth while in my opinion) Mat £20 (over priced. See special offer on nicer interlocking mat) Hope this helps. P.S. The only reason I bought mine was I saw Guy Martin using one on his telly program and then happened to walk past them in Halfords Edited by - Brucey on 10 Feb 2014 12:37:37 Edited by - Brucey on 10 Feb 2014 13:43:18 Edited by - Brucey on 10 Feb 2014 13:46:37
  25. I believe I had a similar showing of oil when the rear Crank Oil Seal was leaking on my K Series. It was enough to leave a little spot on my garage floor each time I parked 😔 It's amazing just how far the oil can travel before it forms a drip! If you can, check the engine side of the flywheel for any oil residue. Hope this helps, Brucey
