  1. Martin, Thanks for the info. If your standard headlamp brackets are becoming available when you fit your lowered ones, I'll defenately take them. James, Sounds like a deal to me Can you send me your address. Bruce.
  2. J, Thank's, I'd appreciate it if you have a look. Hi Andrew, I have plastic type indicator pods at the moment. I'm assuming they are the same regardless of wing type. However, I would like to fit new or newish indicator repeaters to the cycle wings. Bruce.
  3. Over 50 looks and no one has any of these bits knocking around 😔
  4. Just in case you can't get a special tool.......... I tap a flat screw driver into the starter ring gear on the rhs of the engine and hold it there with a G clamp. If the engine is out, use a piece of metal plate instead of a screw driver. Bruce.
  5. O.k, I gave up trying to get 2nd hand wing stays so I bought new but there must be people who have fitted lowered headlamp brackets and got the old ones laying around I've also "organised" some 14" BRG cycle wings but would feel more comfortable if I had side repeaters to fit to them. I guess I could use the ones from my clam shells but I'd like to keep them in 1 piece in case I don't like the cycle wings. Again, there must be people who never fitted these to their cars and have them lying around Lastly, I'd like a standard silver 14" minator so I can fit my recently aquired 'Handling Day' tyre to it. It doesn't have to be cosmetically great, but it does need to be true and round. Waiting in anticipation so I can hide in the garage and play with my bits over xmas Bruce. 6. Peter, I intend to use the SB47's tool I bought with the original 1/2 hood. CC also sell the same tool for around £8 I tried my boot cover on today but I'm not sure where to start fitting poppers! Bruce.
  7. Bob, Chris and Andy, You all have mail Bruce.
  8. Hmm, lots of views, no replies 😔 If anyone wants these, make me an offer If not, I guess it will have to be an e bay auction 😳 Bruce.
  9. Thanks for the birthday wishes Do they have a special section for Saga Seveners 😔 For information, the Boot Cover I got from CC was: 1990 FIA Special Boot Cover Ref: 77659 Made by Oxted Trimming Company Bruce. Edited by - Brucey on 5 Dec 2008 22:36:52
  10. I use 1 in Ruckinge Nr Ashford. Camelot Finishers - Allan Bone - 01233 733782. They do a lot af swing park stuff. Go for the zinc primer as Brent suggests. Remember to tape up any threads. Bruce.
  11. 1 x 1/2 Hood to fit Std Roll Bar Green with Yellow Stripe (same as photo on SB47's web site) Includes bag and all straps. 2 x special side poppers will be needed (available from SB47's) Recently re water proofed using 'Fabsil' (was getting damp on seams, now o.k.) Good condition Selling as I've just fitted an FIA Roll Bar and need a different one! £100 incl P&P to UK 1 pair SB47's 1/2 doors in green. I had to move some of the poppers to make them to fit my 1993 factory built car but old popper positions hardly noticeable. Selling as I will probably get new black 1/2 hood and matching 1/2 doors £40 incl P&P to UK Good Xmas present for someone! Also willing to do a deal as I'm looking for BRG cycle wings, indicator repeaters, headlamp brackets & 1 x 14" Minator Bruce. 12. Cagey, I had that system fitted as standard to my 1993 factory built 1400k ss. The whole system fits inside the car with the CAT mounted on special brackets that share the starter motor mounting bolts. The pipe diameters look quite small compared to the std side exit system I replaced it with. Plus side. - Definately quiter than side exit system with no chance of burning anyone. Down side - Quiter than side exit system! Passanger footwell gets hot as CAT is just in front. Also silencer running across rear was suseptable to grounding (lowest point on car) and also made jacking back up a bit of a pain. I think I have some photos of it fitted to my car if you need them. I sold mine second hand on here for about £90 if I remember right. Some guy was after the CAT which is seperate. Hope this helps, Bruce. Bruce.
  13. Peter, CC told me the latest Boot Cover pretty much 'fits all'. I'll let you know how accurate that is when I try mine out! Does your passenger headrest hit the FIA diagonal? I only had a couple of standard 7/16 UNF bolts so turned them down in my lathe so the heads were 3.5mm thick. (Look down the hole when you remove your std roll bar). It sounds like you already have the correct bolts. It's a bit of a pain taking the rear shocks off to fit them, especially as the std roll bar doesn't use them, but I consider it more than worthwhile. (Squirt some waxoil around there while your at it). I will also have to sell my std 1/2 hood to buy one that fits the FIA bar. These things just keep adding up don't they! Looks like we will be doing some track days together then! Bruce. Edited by - Brucey on 1 Dec 2008 21:35:32
  14. Peter, I got a new one today (from CC Dartford) for my Birthday! I haven't taken it out of the bag yet but I do know you have to fit all the poppers. This means a second hand one may have the poppers in the wrong place. I looked at my old boot cover but I think it would need altering where the front tubes as well as the sloping rear tubes come through which is why it may not be economical to modify. Did you fit the 2 bolts above the rear shocks? If you need some turning down, give me a shout. Bruce.
  15. Martin, I'm pretty sure the 15" wing stays are only suitable for 15" & 16" wheels. However, I'd really appreciate 1st refusal on your std (I'm assuming 13"/14") wing stays when they become available. Without wanting to push my luck too far......Will you be changing headlamp brackets and cylcle wings at the same time? I've got a roll bar to keep me occupied for the moment so don't mind waiting a bit! Bruce.
  16. Looks like Andy has sorted me out with an FIA Roll Bar Now that just leaves the 14" cycle wing parts...........anybody 🤔 Bruce.
  17. Andy, YHM Cycle Wing Stays anybody? Can I cut down my existing headlamp/clam shell brackets? Bruce.
  18. Paul, I'm assuming your bolts are around 10mm o.d. and you have at least a Myford size lathe. If you don't have a tailstock die holder and are using the hand die holder: 1. Cut at lueast a 1mm x 45 deg chamfer on the end of the bolt when you face it off. 2. Take care how you hold the bolt in the chuck (3 jaw on hex head?) 3. Use plenty of tapping fluid, start with the die opened out for first cut and close it down for final cut. 4. Use the tail stock (with drill chuck if necc) to lightly press the die to the bolt when you start cutting the thread. This will help start the thread square. 5. Frequently 'clear' the die (by rotating backwards a bit) during the thread cutting. 6. If your really keen, you could have a go at thread cutting the bolt on the lathe and just using the die as a chaser. Only attempt this if you have spare bolts! Sorry if you allready know all of this! If you get really stuck, I can give you the name of possible suppliers for special bolts. Good luck, Bruce. Must type faster and watch tv less whilst I'm doing it Edited by - Brucey on 11 Nov 2008 22:31:24
  19. O.k. 1 last go before I go to Caterham Cars ............. I'm after an FIA Roll Bar so I can do some track days. Required by 1st Dec (for my birthday). I believe the one I want is on the CC website as >2003 dedion chassis (even though my car is 1993). ( The live axle one definately won't fit) I'm also thinking about going over to the dark side and replacing my BRG flares with cycle wings. So I'm really after the stays & headlamp brakets. I accept I will probably have to get the cycle wings new. Any help appreciated. Bruce.
  20. Tim, I've got the forward facing ally super sport plenum chamber. I did wonder if the 58mm ones on e bay would fit as they don't appear to have a stepper motor. I'm assuming you fitted beige injectors. have you tried swapping them around or getting them cleaned? I your miss fire only happens on trailing throttle, it could be sucking in air somewhere. Bruce.
  21. Tim, Sorry to hear you are still having problems with your missfire. As you know, I did pretty much the same conversion as you and have the following comments: My car is very lumpy when first started from cold. I'm assuming this is because it runs rich until the lambda sensor adjusts the fuelling on the MEMS ECU. My car does around 37pmg when touring to give you some indication on fuelling. It is also running on the 1400 fuel rail and regulator. I'm assuming the fuelling can't be too far out as it passed a full CAT emissions MOT with the current set up, although I did chuck some injector cleaner in the fuel and made sure it was nice and hot before the test. As I have an R300 engine, I did have to file out the inlet manifold to match the larger ports. I used a VVC inlet gasket, but it was still touch and go if I would achieve a good seal between the inlet manifold and block. Like you, I have also fitted verniers and retimed the cams. Have you eliminated the possibility of a leaking inlet manifold (sqirt easy start around it) or a sticky valve (compression test?)? I don't know if I've just got used to the extra power, but I do feel as if the engine is 'breathing' a bit heavy when pushed hard. I'm assuming this is down to the restrictions running a ss plenum and standard exhaust. I hope you get it sorted soon as I can understand your frustration. I do however feel that fitting an Emerald may mask your problem, but I'm not sure it will cure it! All the best. Bruce.
