[this is why you have no CAT because 1995 engines did not require one]. *ONLY* if your car/kit was supplied *complete with a Holden built vauxhall engine from caterham* will they issue you the documents required to prove engine age. and even then, ONLY if you request them. Simon Lambert has told me this morning he is unable to perform some widespread action to solve this little issue, and issue everyone with paperwork - and will deal with individual cases ONLY as they come up. i was sent my paperwork by Nick at Caterham Midlands - top man!! wonkey eyed barmaid
that is of course a very good idea. save someone else searching for hours through archives to find this stuff like i did... question is, where is the FAQ section? not from the faq/smilies link at the top of the screen, cos that just seems to be questions about how to use the site. am I missing something? chris perry 1
Hello, I have a 2002 1600 8V vx classic. Standard as caterham supplied. The engine has never run very well. This week i went to Aldon Automotive in Stourbridge and had it re jetted. As caterham supplied: Main = 115 Air Corrector = 195 Choke = 30 Idle = 50F6 Air Valve = 4.5 Emulsion Tube = F7 Now: Main = 120 Air Corrector = 170 Choke = 30 Idle 50F6 Air Valve = 4.5 Emulsion Tube = F16 Aldon adjusted the 50F6 idle jet screws and achieved CO = 3.0, HC = 0 which will pass the MOT emissions test. On the rolling road it made 101 bhp @ 5200 rpm and 120 lb ft torque @ 3250 rpm. (120, thats the same as an 1800 K series!) The car runs noticeable smoother and has a bit more mid range oooomph. Still runs out of puff before three figures though. Hope this is of interest. Chris P

drB
blatmail seems to be down ☹️ I'm no expert on carbs (!) but by re-jetted did the garage simply adjust and / or replace the existing parts with identical new components or did they adjust and upgrade to different parts? Your rolling road result is spot on original spec, did the garage have a rolling road that they used when setting up the car or did you then have to take the car somewhere else? any advice much appreciated! thanks, Adam buy car, race car, win
