  1. Blatmail sent with details. Mankee
  2. Thanks. I had a crawl around under the car to see what I could spot. I have a flexi/cat looking section at the front and then a silencer at the back box. I googled an image of a filter and can't see any wires/tubes that Google seemed to suggest. However there is a large shield at the front under the engine so not sure if that hides anything. Car is a Euro 4 on the V5 but reading on Ford Forums the filter appears to have been an optional extra. I guess it may be standard on the next model in 2007. I do see you can retro fit them. Car is going onto Autotrader shortly so if anyone fancies a cheeky blat chat price then drop me a mail.
  3. Hi Gary. That's a good question. My V5 shows the 'model' as a Mondeo T-IUM x TDCI130 E4. So Assuming E4 is Euro 4? Also above on 'version' it states Euro45HA P3 if that helps. Car registered 29/09/2006 so a late one. Slotter. I don't suppose you know what the filter looks like and where it is. I'll get on Google.
  4. I take delivery of my company car shortly so my cracking family/tow car is up for sale. It's advertised with pictures here on Pistonheads Details are: Ford Mondeo Titanium X Estate. 2l TDCI. Registered in September 2006. Mot till September 2013 and taxed till April 2013. (£165 road tax). The usual high Titanium x spec with half leather black seats, fronts are heated/cooled, electric powerfold mirrors, AC, Ford Stereo/CD, Cruise, rear parking sensors, active head lights and wipers. Full service history and last serviced in Sept 2012. New front tyres and new rear/discs pads. Front Discs/pads replaced early 2012. Car comes with a detachable Witter tow bar. I've used it for occasional towing of my Minno where it happily sits at motorway speed and returns mid/high 30's. Tow bar is also useful for bike racks etc. Interior and Exterior in excellent condition. Only negative points is a ripple on the passenger rear door from touching our gate post. It doesn't show when photographed but doesn't really detract. Alloys are Polished spokes with grey insets. 2 have kerb damage and 3 are showing the usual chemical reaction in places. Price as advertised is £3,695 but if its going to a club member give me a call or blat mail and we can chat price. I'll be sad to see it go as has been a great all round family, tow, load lugger and commuter car. I'm based in North Essex. Mark Edited by - 7 Sevens on 1 Nov 2012 14:50:08

A lovely new light green with white striped Supersport sitting in the work car park this morning. Are you on here?
  6. My K series is 160bhp and runs a race 4-1 collector with standard Caterham exhaust and no cat. It's also on Jenvey throttle bodies. At 4.5k revs on a static test I always return 98/99DB. I suspect on circuts with drive by (Bedford) it may be a bit higher. Having tested it myself it's actually louder on the induction side than exhaust.
  7. Thanks for the kind offer LesG. Distance may be a blocker though.
  8. Thanks for the advise so far, much appreciated. That was my gut feel Arnie. I didn't think I should take mine up to 8k but guess no reason why I don't consider upping the spec to make that possible. The car is pretty much perfect elsewhere so it's so frustrating I have to back off or hold it on max revs for that long. I've got a set of Yokohama 48s so perhaps that extra height will work, although I like the progressive slip of the Avons. Thanks for the offer on the diff AB. If I go that way I'll contact you. 😬 I had that problem twice at Spa Will! Make sure you join us next year.
  9. I’m looking for some advice and experience on the outcome of changing my diff between 3.92 and 3.62. I currently have a 6 speed 1600 K Series Road sport putting out 160bhp. On track I use Avon CR500s and Aero. Car weighs about 520kg. Car currently has an open 3.92 diff and at my ‘regular’ tracks of Snetterton and Spa I’m constantly topping out in top which is frustrating. At Snett it’s at about 400m on the Revitt, at Spa I’m out with about 600m on the Kemel. It’s robbing me of the overall enjoyment and more importantly allowing those pesky R400s to nip past. You know who you are I’m considering changing to a 3.62 LSD to resolve this. However whilst this would provide me with more top end would it give me a real world reduction in acceleration. In theory the LSD would allow my corner exit speed to increase but I’m a little worried about the car not pulling. Having reviewed the archives I’ve found the below info for reference. However it doesn’t really help me with the actual outcome/experience of the change. By max. rpm (7.600) on my 1.6 supersport-engine and the same "3.92" diff it looks like: 6-speed gearbox 1st - 47 mph 2nd - 63 mph 3rd - 80 mph 4th - 96 mph 5th - 112 mph 6th / - 127 mph "3.62" diff on the 6-speed gearbox it looks like: 1st - 51 mph 2nd - 68 mph 3rd - 86 mph 4th - 104 mph 5th - 122 mph 6th - 138 mph So as a comparison: 1st - 47 mph v 51 2nd - 63 mph v 68 3rd - 80 mph v 86 4th - 96 mph v 104 5th - 112 mph v 122 6th - 127 mph v 138
  10. I raised £1,600 last year so went through the highs and lows of it. I've been banned by the family from doing it again this year. So all the best, keep at it and look forward to seeing the updates on your link.
  11. Not leaking/pouring fluid as now that would be scary. Pedal remained good throughout as I've got a high grade AP fluid in it. However it was sweating fluid out of the fluid reservoir/cap during heavy braking. I've been told that's not unusual on a number of the race cars. Going to replace the reservoir as well in case its starting to fail. Besides, isn't the trick to a fast time is keeping off the brakes
  12. Hi Roger, Thanks for the reply, I was being to wonder if mine was the only one doing that. It sounds very similar as the two points were at the end of Kemmel and entering the Bus Stop so under full loads. Perhaps and fingers crossed it wouldn't happen during less vigorous driving conditions. I had a full face helmet on but could still taste the lovely mix of coolant and brake fluid I think I'll probably replace the cap and gasket and see if that resolves it. Time to draw up the winter to do list.
  13. Hi All, I thought I would ask for some opinions on my K series following an excellent trip to Spa on Monday Engine is a 1600 with Piper Cams, Throttle Bodies and Emerald running at a verified 160bhp. Prior to the trip I replaced all the water hoses and topped it back up with 5.1litres of coolant as I also have a heater. So should have avoided any trapped air by getting the correct amount back in. I was running the car for about 7-9 lap sessions with water temp at a consistent 80c increasing to 90c by the last lap. Oil was also up around 80-90c at the end so no indications of running to hot. However at the end of the Kemmel straight when I was pulling near top revs I had a splash of coolant come out of the bonnet vents and onto the Brooklands screen. It’s also out of the front side skin and all over the inside of the engine bay. I thought it was coming from the expansion bottle cap that may have vented under extreme load but tricky to say. I certainly didn’t have any hose leaks and over the course of the afternoon I had a few more runs as I was barely losing any coolant in the tank. In fact it only appeared to be doing this on the Kemmel and under extreme load. So has anyone had a similar experience/symptom? Could it purely be the cap venting under extreme v max load? Should the cap do this or should I replace that and the tank? Would it be worthwhile upgrading the radiator to an Ali one to minimise heat build up? Is it the start of something else and I should be doing some preventive maintenance? Thoughts?
  14. A Green 07 SV with plate SV07 making progress at lunch time near jnct 6 M25 today. If you got beeped by a Mondeo fully packed with bikes and camping gear that was me.
  15. Hi All, Is anyone in the market for a first car or cheapish run around? A girl in my team at work has a 52 Plate Vauxhall Corsa, 1.2l Petrol, 5 Door, 59k Miles. Just got a fresh MOT yesterday.
