CtrMint
Evening,I was told the other day CC have revised the lights on new car orders, they now include LED as standard. Plus the rear lights have a moving indicator pattern such as those on Audi. Has anyone seen these? The wife is planning on getting me a set of JAL rear LED lights for Xmas, but I was wondering whether to hang fire.Cheers.
TomB
Nothing on the parts store yet. Depends how desperate you are - you could buy the JAL ones tonight online, it could be months before CC over them on the parts store. Or if your wife is skint, you can just buy an LED rear light panel from Spiyda.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted December 16, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted December 16, 2019 I wouldn't wait. If you have a plan, I'd stick to it.Having spent a career in product launches, I know the delays between announce, launch and supply can drag. 7 wonders of the world
lets hope the seperation is better than on some of the VAG models too.....also take a look at the Mark:https://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/flat-led-cluster--pair-/They also offer a wedge to mount them too, dimensionally they cover the OE mounting holes and are fully 'E' marked too. David aka Blue7
Go with JAL, absolutely first class product. When my wife is following me she always comments on how bright the rear lights / brake lights and indicators are. A vast improvement on the old Sprite caravan lights and very easy to fit. Wrightpayne
Are these aftermarket LED lights ‘E’ marked? I’d hate to be un-insured on a technicality!
7 wonders of the world
I have made this exact point for years on here and non of the suppliers have been able to confirm or deny this.I know of someone who fell foul of this problem when he was @rsed ended with lights that were not fully compliant with the regs...I would have thought if these lights are not fully 'E; marked there would be a disclaimer on the website along the lines of high power bulbs ie 'Not for highway use' or ' Show use only'Remember using an E marked bulb in an E marked lens does not mean the complete unit is E marked unless is was tested an approved as a complete unit. CtrMint
My recently purchased new 620R was supplied with a clear lens pack, however the car was also supplied with coloured lens as the clears don't pass IVA. So not sure what to make of it. Given 90% of my driving is going to be on Manx roads, where street lighting and cats eyes are things from the future, I'd rather be fully seen. 7 wonders of the world
The approval was with the original complete unit with clear bulbs and coloured lens, the clear lens are for show use as there will be no approval for these or the coloured bulbs they use with them, and not as a complete unitHappy to be corrected if CC can show otherwise. Wrightpayne
I’m on the fence at the moment regarding bulbs and my recently purchased T6 VW transporter. The H4 powered headlights are absolutely dire and borderline dangerous. Uprated bulbs give a mediocre improvement. The best upgrade (apart from a VW LED conversion at around £2k) is H4 LED equivalents which, without auto leveling and washers, are illegal. ChrisC
Even the LED headlights aren't used for IVA, apparently certificates are needed if presented with them fitted so its easier to swap them to halogen units for the test if you don't have the paperwork. 7 wonders of the world
Ian,Have you tried the GE megalight bulbs, think they offer 120% 130% 150% I previously tried Phillps and Osram but these came out considerably better in a test review and in real terms they certainly are much sharper - and touch wood none have gone pop like the others I've tried.
