Over the winter and whilst the 7 is off the road I am hoping to lift the box and engine to replace clutch and install a lightened fly wheel. As the box will be on the bench I was thinking of sending it down to Road and Race transmissions for a refresh and modification to get the longer 1st gear and better ratios. I'm also going to get the LSD refreshed. For gearbox and diff what sort ££ am I looking to spend. And has anyone used Gibbs Gears from Aylesbury for a different alternative? Chris Cardwell Posted December 22, 2013 Share Posted December 22, 2013 BGH provide a mostly new 5-speed gearbox which is also much stronger, their latest design has improved lubrication and is easier to use. It was also a chance to improve the gear ratios. More strength means that the gear box is a not a weak link if the engine was more powerful. catastrada Posted December 23, 2013 Share Posted December 23, 2013 Just in case, I will soon advertise my Type 9 5 sp gearbox, Quaife internals + alloy maincase (with drain plug) + alloy cover (easy fill in plug).
