Guys,

I have now fitted the above to my R500 Duratec.

The reduction in Noise is amazing, unfortunately I can now hear all the racket coming from the Quaife Sequential Gearbox over the engine!!

Pictures here:

RaceCo Silencer

I will post the actual db level when I get it measured next.

I have a Raceco Silencer on my 250 bhp K engined car and it tested at 95db at Castle Combe on Monday - a place noted for its noise sensitivity! It was much louder (100+)before I repacked it last year, but having taken it off, not only was it very easy to repack, but I also discovered it weighs next to noting. *thumbup*

Hi Nigel *wavey*

The seq. gearbox for the R500 of my friend arrived yesterday from Quaife *smile*

I have the same silencer on my 2.0 Duratec 220 bhp.

It was freshly repacked and I was on a track last week.

After 5 laps I was the only car that was asked to test noise 😳

@3,500 / 4,000 rpm the guy measured 87 db *eek*

Guys,

Thanks for all the comments so far, it was actually all the positive feedback on Blatchat re RaceCo and Ammo himself of course, that prompted me to purchase one of his fine units!!

I am confident now that as my car is so much quieter it will be noticeably lower on the noise test next time!!

Good Fabrications for the best and their excellent V band connection is the only way to go

But then thats why they make Formula 1 systems

Certanly the dog's danglies, even on a poor old X/Flow mine dropped from 105db to 89db, interesting enough that's with the clutch in to quite my quaife, otherwise it's 93db. 😬

I take it you got the advice on ensuring that it's repacked before it starts to seriously discolour due to the gauge of the Titanium..... especially after rolling road tuning or a heavy track day..

Yes Ammo warned me about that, so I got a great big bag of wading for regular re-packing!!

I hope that mine should be down around 98db when I get a chance to test it.

I think that I too will suffer from noise from my Quaife Sequential as it is now the noisiest part of the car now!!

You will only hear a sequential box inside the car, the meter will not pick it up on a drive by. Unless of course you have some fancy flat shift system which makes your engine spit flames on upshifts.

Not sure how often it will need repacking, just need to keep an eye on the noise level I guess.

Arnie, your not wrong my Quaife Sequential was always noisy, now the engine and exhaust are quiet, boy oh boy do I now know just how noisy!!!

That, like your R500, looks really smart.

I was going to get one the minute I got my new R400 home. However, when I collected it, I found it had a smart 7" can already fitted so I am going to get it measured for noise first.

How did you get yours fitted - did you take a long drive North or just send photos and measurements?

I fitted it myself.

Ammo explained how easy it was, and I just cut back the cat bypass pipe.

I was surprised how easy it was, I did the whole job in less than 30 mins!!

Thanks for the *thumbup* on my Car too!! *biggrin*

A friend of mine has the new R500D with Quaife sequential and we did a trackday a month ago. I was stood by my car when he came into the pits and I was amazed how noisy his gearbox was from the outside, and thats compared to my straighcut 5 speed which I thought was noisy.

Ah, good news *cool* I have the bypass pipe ready to fit. I will get a noise test first and if it is a fail then Ammo will have a new customer!
