  1. For sale a set of 13" Caterham satin black 8 spoke wheels with the wider rears: 6" front and 8" rear IIRC. No centre caps (they were never available in black) or dust caps. Excellent condition with virtually no marks at all on them - look almost new. Front tyres (185/60) are R888s, GG. Outer tread 3mm and inner 2mm for the left tyre and 3mm all over for the right. Rear tyres (205/60) are R888s, GG. Barely 2mm tread. Pretty well on the wear markers in places. Also a brand new unfitted set of rear tyres - again 205/60 R888 in GG compound! Also there are 5 A048s in 185/60 R13 size. Some are road legal and some are borderline. All are great for the track of course! The price is £650 for the entire lot - 4 wheels and 11 tyres. If you don't want the A048s then they will be free after the main wheels have sold. This is a realistic price and is the money I want, rather than a starter for negotiation. The wheels are 75 miles from me (at my father's place) and I do not have any photos but I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Location is about 10 minutes from junctions 12/13 of the M5. It would be difficult for me to meet you there so it is a case of pay me electronically then collect from my father's place. He is OK with this. Edited by - Tangerine Dream on 20 Feb 2011 19:35:41
  2. OMG I feel genuinely nauseous watching that. We had a very steep ladder to roof scaffolding on our house. I was dieing to go up and look at the roof and neighbours gardens but I could barely get to the top. I just couldn't face the prospect of transiting from the ladder to the top so down I went. Felt silly so tried again. Same result. I have always been freaked by heights. Yet I, too, am a pilot and think nothing of it in an aeroplane. I guess the plane is equivalent to a safety barrier. Back on topic: I really would love to learn to fly a helicopter and buy this one here ... but I fear neither will happen ☹️ ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified! 3. I don't think the standard rack is very quick and now see why people want the quick rack. Reason is that, although 2 turns sounds quick, the turning circle is pretty poor so the rack is not actually that much faster than the bulk of tintops that have tighter turning circles with 2.8 turns. ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  4. Is the extra £6K just for the different engine? I was going to get an R300 but I absolutely wanted dry sump and LSD and rather fancied shift lights. Once I added that lot to the R300, it was only £1600 less than the R400 which has all 3 items as standard. I am wondering if it is a similar thing with your 125/175 dilemma or if all the money really is on the engine alone. ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  5. I have posted elsewhere but mine is similarly useless. It reads 7/8 when brimmed and has only used about 30 of the 40 litres when reading empty. At Millwoods I asked for it to be rectified under warranty. They found that something (I forget) had been put in 180 degrees wrong at the factory! Anyway, it still reads the same so this is not the problem. One day I may follow the excellent hints above and would also be happy to host the photographs. Otherwise I am going on range: It never does under 28mpg in 'normal' use. This means that 200 miles is leaving a minimum reserve of 7.5 litres. Probably a little pessimistic as the engine is loosening up nicely now. ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  6. I bought Philips Xtreme (+80%) from an ebay seller along with free bright BlueVision sidelight bulbs. Now the sidelights are a crisp white instead of looking like a pair of candle driven coach lamps and the headlights are really excellent. I am very pleased indeed. One headlamp has just blown on the Golf and I have gone back to the same seller for a set of Xtreme dips and the Osram +90% mains. Also added 2 new indicator bulbs because, unlike the 7, it is a bumper off job so I am renewing all 6 at once! Anyway, hereis what I bought and I think you will be delighted for £18. They post first class on the day of order usually. I have no connection with the seller etc! Edit for spelling and to say that I also have the smaller headlights. 7. 175. The 2.0 Duratec is exceptionally torquey in my R400 SV. I imagine a Roadsport 175 will be similar but just not have quite such a mental bit in the last 2000rpm. Cheaper to get it now than upgrade later and the Duratec is a good engine. ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!

  9. £50 seems to be the going rate. I got my Golf done at Bridgewater VW for that. Some cars work well with the Halfrauds kit but some need to have the stuff weighed in and out rather than checking pressure. Something like that anyway. An air con expert advised me to have it done by someone with the right kit .. (Oh, and I will be able to make this Thursday 😬) ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  10. Bump! Fed up searching ebay and PH .. how hard can it be to find one? ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  11. They could in mine - I have added Philips X-treme bulbs and am much impressed. As others have said, blank out the V marked in the headlights. Being a numpty I blanked out the left side V for Le Mans Classic. Turns out the light reflects from the mirror so it is the right side (left as you view the light) V that should be blanked. Doh 😳 ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  12. New R400: 2 push buttons on the dash, one either side of steering wheel. Button flashes green in concert with the green arrow in the rev counter. No annoying beep as they cancel after a period of time (20 seconds I think) if you forget them. Not as good as the R500 set up but seems pretty good for a Caterham ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  13. Paul, I am trying desperately to keep it standard for at least a year 😬 I got a decat pipe with the car but wanted to do the first track day with the cat to get a noise measurement with it on (about 98db). Since then been too lazy to change ... ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  14. Sounds like a great buy. No money or garage space left after the R400 but your car is what my wife wanted me to buy instead of the 7 😬 ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
  15. Yes, tight. In France I thought one pump was not going to go in .. but it did. ================================== R400SV in orange - so far unmodified!
