  2. Are you an East Dulwich resident....?
  3. Dave, I was just reading through the Elise engine workshop manual which reads: "Alloy Sump "Apply a 2mm x 0.25mm thick continuous bead of sealant, part number GIG 705963GM to sump flange as shown then spread to an even film using a roller' Tim
  4. Thanks Dave, One more... Will hylomar to the goo for the sump gasket or should that be the purple stuff? Tim
  5. Norman, Oily 😶‍🌫️ sold me the Hylomar so trust it's the right stuff. Since my initial post he's also clued me in where and how to put it and RJ's (thanks for the pdf) pdf showed exactly what I need to know. RJ would it be wrong to ask if there is a chance for a full copy of the manual Many thanks to Norman, RJ and Oily One further question. Do you know the torque setting for big end bolts? Tim
  6. A couple of questions: When re-installing liners in a K-series how much Hylomar do I apply, and is it just to the bottom seating or at the shoulders too. Then....Is it easiest to apply to the liner or squirt it on to the shoulders in the block? Guess what I'm going on the Bank holiday. Many thanks Tim
  7. Or...... Merlin Motorsport as Castle Combe I've just bought a pair of these...
  8. Still using crystal ball technology. The flux capacitor is on back order at the dealer. Tim
  9. Passat saying hi at North Dulwich traffic lights. Tim

  13. Many thanks to Nifty, I'm now the proud owner of a 1.8VVC. I now just have to save up the pennies for the 1.9 conversion, and summon up the courage to tell the missus 😳

    Race suit

I've finally got round to checking sizes, unfortunately an OMP size 54 is a size too small for my post Christmas figure. Thanks for the offer though. Tim

    Race suit

Thanks, I've found the sizes (I'll have to take measurements when I get home). I still can't see the specd of the OMP 86 suit. Is it FIA 8856-2000 ? Iv'e found a link to the OMP range, can you identify which one it is. Tim

    Race suit

I'm looking for a race suit for trackday use. preferably 2-3 layer, to fit 6' 12.5 stone regular build. Anyone got one lying around?
  18. I'm just about to acquire a new engine but need to get it from Oulton Park to me. I'm in south london but make regular trips up and down the M40 to Dudley, if there is anyone who would be able to collect from Oulton Park I can collect from them anywhere on the M40 corridor or around Dudley/Birmingham. Of course london would be even easier. I'd make a donation of £50 to NtL If you can help blatmail me or email me on woolcottt@aol.com Many thanks Tim

    1.8 VVC engine

On behalf of a friend of mine I'd like to ask if anyone has a decent VVC 1.8 (modified or un-modified) for sale. Tim
  20. Many thanks for the advice, Stu, It's not even the nice easy access Caterham, but my MGF, I see some back breaking work in front of me. :o(
  21. Dave, You mentioned a while ago that I need to take care to stop metal filings dropping down the oil-ways, what method do you use to bung them up...? Do you also bung up the cyclinders and waterways... or do you just protect the oily crank? This may be the weekend I start the linnishing. Tim

    Track day noise

I was at Donny last week and had a problem with noise 99.3, in the end I fitted a rather smart external baffle (a Coke can) and with a bit of light footed acceleration just after the chicane all was well. I'm pretty certain that they only operate a single point monitoring, elsewhere I was going full chat :) I do find the noise limit a bit daft at Donington since it's right under the flight path of East Midlands Airport Tim
  23. Yep! liners marked radially and to their relevant piston/cylinder. For reference later how accurate should the radial orientation be? Now, my next task is the linnishing. I am assuming that I need to keep the block face flat and hence the use of the piece of glass suggested earlier in the thread, but I'm curious what kind of tolerance I have in overall flatness? Thanks for your help Dave, I do still need to pass by your place to test the head for hardness before re-fitting. Tim
