  1. If it’s that cold would anyone take the 7?
  2. Second finger of suspicion pointing at the hazard switch here.
  3. SM25T uses furniture polish IIRC with good results. (Also very good on side screen windows and vinyls IME)
  4. That sounds like it’s worth a look so yes please to more details.
  5. The problem was the spade connectors on the sides but they and the circular pins were rubbed down with emery then contact cleaner sprayed into the switch and the switch switched many times. Now a much more snappy positive switch than the slightly hesitant one before cleaning.
  6. Updating should future searches find this. With the very helpful diagrams (thanks again @JK and @Revilla) we chased the problem down to the contacts on either side of the hazard switch. Remove switch, clean all contacts with emery paper and contact cleaner and all is now good, test drive and 24 hours later Suspecting a theme I also did same to the heated windscreen switch which now illuminates and draws power across the screen. Just need a warm, humid tunnel and mountain cool air to test. Not got one of those in the flatlands of MK so will have to go with the multimeter evidence. Views on replacing the switches?
  7. Thanks Ian, That could be ideal - but still looking.
  8. A little closer than that but mountains and snow will be involved.
  9. Budget of £5-7k so at the well used end of the scale but it might beat a trade in price. Not fussed on what really but 4x4 and size (to take 4 adults plus lots of luggage) vital. Don’t need it until November so can wait if anyone’s thinking about a change and willing to travel to it. thanks in advance,
  10. Thanks both. No recent work other than an oil change and MOT. No water ingress as garaged. No LED as, well, the as is works and is simple. Will hopefully get a chance to fettle next weekend - closest I got today was to clean the bug morgue from the windscreen and put the cover on.
  11. Email on way. Thanks. Yes have a multimeter - and happy to earn a few more scars from the soldering iron.
  12. On the way down to the Fish & Chip Run my indicators decided to stop working. I pushed the relay back in and had hazards but no indicators. I stopped in at Millwood who gave up an hour they didn’t really have to prove the relay and switch was fine but the live feed was at fault. Hold the loom just so and it’s fine, not so and it’s not. Pity these cars bounce a bit... First up - big thanks to Millwood (sorry, I didn’t even ask your name!) for the help and refusal to take payment. Great help and sorry to the dog for not playing fetch. Secondly. What to do? Chase the feed through the loom, unwrapping it and playing with the ensuing spaghetti or just take a new feed. But from where? @Revilla / @Jonathan Kay Do you have a loom diagram please? Preferably with wire colours (2002/3 SV VVC K) @Everyone else. Guidance and suggestions welcome.
  13. @ #3 re need for servicing - (as usual) good advice to be heeded but when the service costs get to be a big percentage of the original outlay it puts me off. But the man maths of service costs on something expensive sits more comfortably. Perhaps I have Upgradeitus worse than I thought...
  14. I’ll start the traditional chorus of ‘talk to Simon @ Meteor Motorsport’ shortly followed by a declaration of interest. I bought the NTR R1 valved by Meteor a few years back and they are possibly the most transformative upgrade I’ve made. They made any corner on any road and any bump confidence inspiring rather than teeth chattering. Much more comfortable and if you’re chasing tenths it probably helps when wound down to hard. Hopefully others will be along to comment on other options but I don’t regret the man maths. But do bear in mind they have a recommended service interval too so it’s not fix and forget.
  15. Where are you based Richtimms? Someone local may be able to offer a hand.
  16. 5w 50 on a very similar spec engine. Cos that's what the book and DVA recommends
  17. Or the alternator belt you tightened for me (plus check all hose clamps & fettle rear light block as per above) in a car park in Italy on the Portofino trip a few years back. Another vote for Club Treasure here.
  18. from the other waving loon in a 7
  19. No problem. Will bring them to the next NoBB meet.
  20. Any takers? Free to anyone's home. (Must be a tidying big going around)
  21. Northampton Motorsport are in, well, Northampton and could do it for you.
