  4. I'm about to replace my gearbox with a BGH (type 9) How do I disconect the gearbox from the gearstick? is it just a matter of unscrewing the ball and leaving the shaft or is there a linckage that needs to come off? do I need to remove the carpet? Tony

  8. Hi Nick, no not booked in for dunsfold but thanks for the offer, will quiz you on it next time we ride. Ian, yes I have 4 into 1 collector, perhaps a 4 2 1 will be worth a try, I'm hoping some re giggled ratio's in the gearbox might help jonboylaw, I have some kind of electronic ignition but don't know what kind (it was on the car when I bought it) Tony
  9. I have a Roger King 155 x-flow in my car which is a brilliant engine but I've got to the stage (as everyone does) that I would like a little more power. My problem comes when pulling out to overtake, at certain revs the car takes a while to really pull away, when it does it goes well but sometimes I'm stuck between needing to use a lower gear and reving the nuts out of it, to bogging down slightly and not clearing the car fast enough. My first upgrade will probably a BGH box, not sure which one to go for? Another idea would be to fit some throttle bodies etc, what extra could I expect if i did this? and how hard is it to do? and If I ever went to a zetec would they fit on? Sorry for so many questions all at once Tony

  19. I chopped the end off the old clutch cable and used that as the adjustable bolt Tony
  20. How old is your car? mine is a 1990 with the funny A frame without the cross bar made a massive difference when I had one welded on Tony
  21. Its very easy to do but would recomend a decent filter spanner/gripper thing (Halfords do one) and a big tray for catching the old oil put a smear of oil around the new filter seal (rubber bit) + half fill with oil remember to put the sump plug back before the new oil goes in 😳 not sure what Oil to use on a 1600 x-flow, I would guess its something ordinary halfords were giving a nice screwdriver set if you bought their oil (I use mobil 1 in mine but its a differant spec engine) engine is from mk2 escort or similar Tony
  22. I was going to do the same thing, but also to weld a thicker piece of steel to the bottom of the sump and bend it slightly up the sides and front (so its not welded to the original welds) to strengthen it. does this sound like a good idea? Tony
