  1. Darren, Suggest having a chat with Bruce at Arch. He was incredibly helpful. My chassis was upgraded to cover VX torque (295 bhp and 214 lb ft), this covered comprehesive work to the diff cage with thicker tubes/flanges, and using thicker guage sheet for bulkhead and floors. There were a myriad of minor changes to the chassis which Bruce addressed brilliantly. They also used steel rivets in the construction.
  2. Hi Jue, Good luck and please let us know how you got on with the hobnobs 😬
  3. Hi, There appear to be a few 7's around the 8k mark including a nice 1991 x-flow. Having just been made redundent and started up on my own, I must not go and buy it... Anyway, assuming 8k starting point and a further 3k, that puts you in nice 1600 road sport territory Cosmetically may be a lot better, performance will be better, less tinkering ( could be good or bad position .... ) Or, 3k = zetec conversion from Raceline - there is always more too it, although the kit of parts is pretty comprehensive, and of course the need to modify the starter... (although then need brakes, and cosmetic works and, and, and...)
  4. Having been upgrading for over 15 years, I would strongly recommend selling the current car and buying what you want. The cost of upgrading will be more...engine swap, gearbox swap, brake upgrade etc etc, I will get my coat as many will have a different view. Selling the components will off-set costs a little, but suspect there is limited value there. Emotional attachment will of course be one of the hurdles and understand fully if you want to keep it As a starter 7, your car as it stands has a value as it stands... Given market, there are a lot of cars out there offering good value. Anthony
  5. Gents, I replaced my tube 3 times (none of them had failed and all replaced through upgrade process on a 1990 chassis) and the quality of the tube in terms of construction and materials has improved significantly with each replacement. I would not wish to trust a component that in some instances may now be nearly 20 years old. As a precaution, it has to be prundent to treat this as a safety upgrade especially on older cars. Perhaps it is worth having a review of any failures which might have occured over the last 2 years with the new tube and see if the new design has significantly reduced the risk?
  6. It may have sold quicker as a 7 speed box
  7. Dave, Really good point - I keep forgetting all the bits added to the car - also includes original RS rear bumper ! The front is the same profile from recollection, but does without washers. There is also a Fabspeed aluminium front strut brace which I forgot about as well... And....cover craft top-of-the range cover, although it has a air-chamber as its usual home. The rear windscreen wiper has also been removed. I have kept the sun-roof as there is no a/c and it can get hot in the summer. I have not taken the steps of changing the front suspension components to match an RS . An original RS will hold its value, but the good ones are 50-60k and rising. They also do without the usual protection systems.
  8. Hi Gary, apologies but the chassis has sadly been sold and is now in Finland.
  9. Sorry to enter debate a little late, but Hi-Spec rear calipers went on without any modification. Car had cambered rear ears and latest spec de-dion tube I would have no hesitation in recommending hi-specs - just make sure they are in stock as it took a while to get mine Ant
  10. Before a change in circumstances in April, I had embarked on a long held dream of a 911 RS rep. Last year the plan started in earnest with a 1990 RHD 964 in soft metalic black and 17" cups, non-a/c spec car, with sun-roof and factory LSD and the following work undertaken; 1. Front and rear re-spray 2. Heigo half cage 3. 965 (Turbo) big reds and discs, along with 993 servo, new pipes and 964 RS rear calipers, pads etc. 4. New Southbound (highest quality) RS carpet set 5. New tear-drop mirrors 6. C2 LWT number plate 7. leather covered RS door cards etc 8. Refurbished gearbox ( sensible to have it checked over whilst out ) 9. RS brake ducts 10. ECU upgrade 11. Induction kit 12. The most beautiful Fabspeed exhaust (including all by-pass pipes) 13. New rear dampers 14. RS lowered springs 15. New spoiler motors The car is at Autofarm under going further works; a) 3.8 L upgrade, with blue-printed engine, all fittings replace, RS flywheel/sport clutch and new tinwear (cost >£17k+VAT) b) Fitting Reverie carbon buckets (inc runners on driver side) and leather covers c) Window runner replacements (common 964 issue) d) Hoast of other works, including new rear lamps Engine will deliver reliable - proper - 300 bhp/flat torque curve, with new barrels, pistions, cams, extensive work on head etc etc (from the chap who managed to spend 27k on a VX engine, no item has been left to chance). Anyway to cut a long story short, the car may well be up for sale. Autofarm estimate that an RS rep is 30-35k + VAT + really good donor car Expected to be mid-late 30's at Autofarm, but would settle for 30k. I appreciate one can by tired original RS for 32k from Gumnd as an example, but there may be 20k of work needed to bring it up to good reliable standard. If anyone had a great bonus, and is interested let me know. Car should be ready to view in 4-5 weeks. Anthony anthony.burgess1@googlemail.com
  11. Set of R500 size ACB10's Part worn from track-day, but lots of life. From recollection they are soft compound. 120 collected please mail me on anthony.burgess1@googlemail.com Many thanks
  12. Wishful thinking on my part, but if I had another 7 I would not hesitate to have a carbon rear panel. Having spent a fortune keeping rear panel clear of any fittings it is astonishingly easy to sustain accidental damage and I ended up having mine re-painted by TSK before I even had it on the road. CF would avoid these minor problems, and could be fitted with a bit of time and a rivit gun at home. MOG have these on their website from recollection

  14. By back ground is very much x-flow and vauxhaul so please forgive the request and I have no wish to offend anyone, but I have a friend who has just stuffed his 993 RS and decided that tracking a car thats going up in value is just getting silly. Anyway, he is looking at k-series cars around 12-13k mark. Other than ;- head-gaskets Oil sender units CRB's mid 90's powdercoating Are there any other generic issues ?
