  1. Have you got the centre of the new wheel identified on the side you want to mark up? Is there a link that would show us the MOMO template you want to use? The Spa wheel has a wheel centre marker and I think I have the old lifeline QR mech (black) if this helps. I can try and post a pic of the new wheel?
  2. my new wheel is a Spa D shaped 255. tried to apply the suggested Momo template (hoping it might work) not confident enough to go ahead and drill; though. My old wheel was a racetech (round and 260) centre marker is 1/2cm lower on the centre face than the new Spa wheel. I find myself pulling faces at the 'pcd measurement thingy' and was wondering whether someone could give me a step by step set of instructions as if it it was being given to janet and john thank you

  4. POBC advice........ What is the best way to accurately drill 3 holes in a new steering wheel to match existing wheel + QR setup? Any good or tried and tested methods out there? Many thanks Edited by - andy lef on 7 Apr 2014 15:23:01
  5. A pair for me too please - black for preference but I have a spray can. Any ideas on the cost of adding black mirrors to the deal? and could you confirm what type of mirrors they would be (convex etc) many thanks.

    Spa vs Momo

many thanks for the advice. - Will try an ad on wanted. - Don't have big hands, so if nothing comes up on wanted may go with Spa.

    Spa vs Momo

POBC advice needed please. The top of my old Momo steering wheel has been used to help someone out of the car - and now i need a new one as it's lost its rigidty - Any opinions on whether I should go for a Spa 255mm D shape steering wheel or a Momo 270mm D shaped steering wheel or are there better options out there? Price is always a consideration. I note that there is a £40 price difference in favour of Spa (D Tweaks) but is there anything else that I should consider? many thanks Andy
  8. Golf 2.0 GT TDI two new fronts required. Rears still good for at least 10k so will remain as Pirelli P Zero Rosso 225/45/17 91Y. Any suggestions for the front replacements? P7 or go away from Pirelli?
  9. Jonathan I'm in for 3 please - not going as far as Peru I'll BM my details for when you want money etc.
  10. I've used the sigma 1606 for the last 8 years - yes it has a wire and a magnet to the front right. It's very accurate, battery lasts about 6 months, simple to fit - basically bomb-proof. Yes there are limitations (no back light that stays on) and mine is still fitted using blutac (just idle). But definitely fit for purpose.
  11. and again this morning, though it looks more orange today for some reason. Coming down from Newlands corner, in traffic 🙆🏻, I was going up to Newlands corner in mine (daily commute) Green and yellow nose ring + stripe. Good day to go to work in the Caterham 😬
  12. saw you moving....... uphill from Shere to Newlands Corner about 1800 hrs - Yellow, no doors, blue BB cap double diag FIA bar - Flashed lights from silver Golf. My normal run home when there's a clear sky like today!
  13. finally and going for a proper ECU. The archive chat in POBC suggests that Emerald are the best way to go. Fine, so which one and then who to fit (not me sunshine!) and since getting to a rolling road is not going to be easy is there a standard map for a 1.8k SS + DVA pixie dust that would do the job?
  14. It was a great day yesterday, another long'ish commute home enjoying the glorious weather - popped onto the A3 southbound from Oxshot and got as far as the Wisley, West Byfleet junction.... to bypass a small traffic jam................ When rather suddenly and completely unexpectedly smoke pours out of the vents and the nasty hot oil smell hits me. So clearly not panicking in the slightest and neatly avoiding all the rush hour traffic, who were having a quiet chuckle at my expense, I stuffed the car into the verge and 'off'd' the engine. No damage, still oil in the sump, but no proper inspection possible as still in my 'whistle and flute' and not wanting to risk driving off it was................... Next stop Mr AA. who, give them their due was pretty prompt for rush hour - 1hr 1/2 for Mr Maple (subcontractor to come and pick me up. I very kindly asked if he would drop me at JW's (who was staying open for me); sadly it turns out that 'our policy doesn't allow us to do that without an engineer inspection first' So off to Sainsbury's bridge garage near Cobam to be dumped and wait for the engineer......... an hour later 2000 (first call to AA at 1753) Mr AA calls to say that they don't have an engineer who can 'competently' look at a caterham..... and that they would send a truck to pick me up and drop me off at a garage of my choice ..... up turns Mr Mapole an hour later _different driver to ring the changes and off we go to James W's......... finally James and Ruth both meet *thumbup* me at 2100 with open arms as if I were the returning prodigal son. A quick cuppa and a visit under the car revels that all is indeed not well with the poor motor.... poss crank seal leak TBC. Bu??er I've just missed the last train home from Ashford - no problems says Ruth we'll drop you at Weybridge... 😬 What stars and what service...... Home by 2340 feeling unhappy at Mr AA for having rubbish inflexible policies. Just thought I'd let you know. Edited by - andy lef on 10 Jul 2013 17:43:01
  15. SM25T Thank you- YHBM Andy
  16. many thanks Get under car and see if you can feel play in propshaft UJs by turning it by hand, one way then the other. this I can do - how much play is bad? This one Get under car and see if you can feel play in propshaft UJs by turning it by hand, one way then the other. I may have to outsource as I'm 🙆🏻 at it; no tools , no skills and more importantly with 2 under 3 no time. When I'm not in my suit I'll get under the car and do some jiggling of UJs 😬 Edited by - Andy Lef on 8 Jul 2013 14:24:43
  17. Thanks. The clonk appear / feels to be somewhere under or behind my seat area. If it's the UJ, which I guess might be supported by the 'clonk' location what are my check options? If it's, as SM25T suggests, other possible causes then I guess it could it could mean a clutch or gearbox out job? WDYT? Edited by - Andy Lef on 8 Jul 2013 13:52:37
  18. I've had it for a while (a very long while - 14 years) and I would be never have worried about it ..... except a friends caterham doesn't have one and I then read stuff on BC - Advice / thoughts would be appreciated. Clonking noise / feeling when I change up and release the clutch (I'm pretty carful and don't bang it out = no noticeable clonking; sometimes being less careful and generally at lower speeds it clonks. is something lose or has it always been lose. It's never mentioned by James W (who looks after it every once in a while - So..............to be worried or not?
