Currently running on 185/60/R13 front and rear, but from reading all the tyre chat on Baltchat concerns spring to mind. Should I be running on this same mix or shouls I have more rubber on the rear, 205 perhaps? Currently run on 13 x 8 JJ rims will they take a 205 or should I stay as I am - it seems to run pretty d*mn well with the current setup, however, always welcome a new way ahead. If it means I don't have to use the force all the time it sounds good to me. Intend to put 48's on when rubber runs out (pretty soon now). *confused* Andy 1.4SS K446LGF

A fairly simple question for somebody. Am looking at buying a second hand hood and wanted to know if there was going to be any problems involved. Let me explain - hood belongs to a car that is Live Axle and I have a De Dion, is it complatable? Studs are already fitted to hood, are all stud receivers on all Cats located in the same place, ie there will be a pretty perfect marry up if I were to go ahead and buy this hood. Many thanks. Novice mechanic has been reading your chat on upgrading 1.4 ss with interest. Keen to upgrade but totally inept and am all thumbs etc. Any idea how much it would cost me to leap to dizzy heights of 1.8 by getting someone to do the upgrade for me. Throwing money at the problem seems to be the only way I might do this a little bit cheaper than buying from scratch. Any sensible comments or otherwise most welcome!

Probably a tired question by now, hoever, have a standard 1.4SS but want more power. Is there any way I can get more BHP above the 133/135 currently running? Or would the brotherhoo d advise a new purchase/new engine. Andy

Am in Bath, returning from work near Warminster -experinced serious lack of power from engine (1.4SS). Exhaust warbling and f@*ting some popping, none of the usual grunt that I've come to expect when I press gas pedal . Anyone have any ideas or failing that know of anyone in the Bath area who may be able to help me get it - whatever it is fixed! 🤔 🤔 All help much appreciated from new register but 2 yr owner. Still a novice then.

Jerry, Based in Plymouth, but tend to move around (overseas) a lot with work. Lydford sounds as though it would be a good idea. How often are the meets (summer time or all yera round?) Not a real pblm though what's a little wet for a great drive..Where are you based? Andy

Rob, Thanx for your info, all tips useful! Only have a 5 spd box, how much difference does a 6 spd actually make? Have had mine for about 6 months as well but have yet had the oppotunity to get to know it v well. HMF keeps me v busy at the mo. Will not see the car until July and am taking it to France for a run out. Essentially the knowledge needed revolves around problem areas and best ways to maintain those pain in the butt areas that seem to always turn up when you either least expect them or because the car is a K reg.

Would greatly appreciate all info on 1.4SS, tech and driving. Am recent purchaser of K reg BRG, ex track, 12K on clock, good all round condition. It has just been cleaned and had feresh aior blown into it by Midway Motors, Yelland. Due to novice like knowledge any useful tips and info sought. Looking forward to summer driving, to date have only experienced wet and windy.. Must be nails...or nuts...
