  1. Jonathan, Switch lights up with the amber strip light (old rocker switch), will check the fuse in a mo, when i can get to the car without being soaked. Andy
  2. Yup ref polarity - they are the right way round. the new lights come with black (neg) adn green (pos) wires. The car has black (ground) and orangy or red and white (Pos)
  3. So looking at the responses above - thank you (Jonathan I have PM'd you); I have already had a good look at the forum and seen the other fog light woes that have been discussed. I have done a lot of the work and tried other fixes as suggested, but sadly still nothing. Fogs were working but when swapped out for JAL leds they stopped? I have to assume that the fogs are linked to the lights relay as they are driven by the dipped headlights for operation as per the rules and that is how they worked before. I have checked the ground by running a positive wire direct fro the battery to the lights - they work on both sides. But when connected to the positive (in the loom) the g=fogs do not work; No other lights are impacted; Question the loom is the original from 1992 / i have owned the car since 1999. Could the wiring have perished somewhere along the loom? Any ideas for what I should test next (and how) I am seat of the pants electrical novice. in anticipation Andy
  4. UPDATED TO reflect topic Rear Fogs not working conundrum. I have read load on the forum about the fogs woes of others adn have tried to check as they have done. I used to have working fogs (they occasionally needed a tap to make them work) then swapped out the halogen for some JAL LEDs; And then nothing from the new LEDS (they do work I have tested them) So this is an attempt to get them working again. Hi just trying to identify the relays in the picture (specifically which one feeds the rear fog lights). So i can try and troubleshoot the fog lights not working The red one I know feeds the LED indicators I fitted but 1, 2 3 need assigning. The car is. a 1992 build originally a 1.4ss but suspect that may not have much influence? Assist appreciated as I try to get the rear fogs to work again. Andy
  5. Just re-discovered one in the garage and noticed that the original horn is - pretty rusty. If anyone has fitted one before have you a handy set of instructions - relays, in line fuse etc someo f whihc I presume i need to give the compressor the right power? Thank you Andy
  6. Firstly forgive the preamble. Back in 2008 i had a 1.4ss - 1.88ss upgrade with a ported head carried out by Dave at DVA. Dave gave it a 1.8ss map and I have had loads of happy motoring miles under me since then. Success! Roll forward the years to December last and I discovered that I had bowel cancer (this is just to let you know that I am creating a bucket list off things to do to get me through the chemotherapy - I am currently on cycle 3 of 8 before the drs leave me alone and i click into the 'are you clear scan checks). As part of the bucket list I have been getting the car back on the road (SORN at the mo and hasn't been driven for 15 months. Simple things like a new battery / headlight mounted indicator repeaters / a general tidy up etc etc etc. In addition I thought that a progressive power upgrade programme might be a good thing to take up in slow time. Money is always an issue but if it's a progressive set of steps then it might be manageable? All thoughts are welcome but I thought that maybe; More aggressive cams? which ones? 4-2-1 exhaust? DTHB? which ones? ECU - again which oneI accept that doing much of this in one go wiil be cheaper but it may be that the power itch might be scratched after e.g bullet 2 but .......... in anticipation Andy
  7. My powervamp 25 has finally given up the ghost - shame after 8 years! Any ideas what I should replace it with? Oddessy like for like ir something else? WDYT? Andy

  10. left them as is - they add to the ventilation;
  11. Went with a powervamp (link) and made a ally tray for it. Bolted it to the spot where the heater used to be. Hasn't missed a beat in 5 years. Simples - yes!
  12. Hi Have you got pics of the anthracite wheels, with any damage? What size are the wheels? Thank you
  13. Many thanks. Not wishing to open a can of worms.......... Has anybody had experience of both BGH and tracsport gearboxes to offer comment on 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD suggestion that "The 2.66 1st gear that BGH offer is still way of the mark for a Caterham's meager weight."
  14. Thanks Jonathan, Will try and jack up the car at some stage. Gearbox is a Type 9 unmodified Keen to have something that is better for road (don't track the car); 1st gear is rubbish and I spend most of the time pulling away in 2nd - though that's a bit sloppy as it needs to have enough revs to make it worth the effort. I don't think a screaming 5th is what i want for cruising - am i getting old.................. I've looked at BGH and they seem to have a nice compromise for utility vice cost; Clearly not too fussed about top speed if I'm only going to use it on the road;Andy
  15. OK so here goes. I have a '92 reg ex 1.4ss K converted by Dave Andrews to a 1.8ss K, same cams, forged pistons etc. I am trying to figure out what new gearbox might be suitable for the car to make it even better to drive. Anyone know what Diff I might have? in anticipation
  16. I used something like this and wired an inline fuse directly to the battery. Fitted it into the left hand side of the dash by the passenger (keeps the wires out of my way. Bomb proof, easy and inexpensive to do. I'll try and get some pics from the car later. Steve Marsh's write up is one I used. Andy
  17. I'm interested - price clearly a driver so no promises.
  18. Frosty, Noting your classic cars link - which bulb set did you go for? TVM Andy
  19. I did the same as Tony - well Dave Andrews did it for me and I had the head uprated as well as forged pistons added with SS cams retained and added Pipercross verniers. A really good upgrade and gives you all the low down umph that you don't get on the 1.4ss. Never looked back since.
  20. SM25T Have you got pics of the LEDs fitted and lit up? and if you can be bothered with the connections so we can see what you've done? In anticipation Andy
  21. Paul thanks LED indicators have new electronic LED flasher relay in the fuse box so that covers off the resistor for them. Suspect that I wil have to fit one each to the Tail/Brake clusters for each side? In line resistor to reduce power to LED = resistor added to positive wire from power to light............ confirm for a electrical novice? and yes the resistors must be something prety special to cost that much!
