  1. Genuine parts cant be bought elsewhere but a copy may be available from here.

    Rev limiter?

Might just be a rev counter engine revs mismatch. My SS 1.6 doesn't read exactly what the engine is doing.
  3. It should be ok if it's the part load breather with the circa 3mm hole blocked not the full load one. If the rear seal has been changed there has been mentioned a particular one that doesn't seal. Can't remember exactly but one with a gold coloured metal part being at fault. Get a proper one and they are ok. The bolt in mod also helps. I expect Mr Andrews will be along with a bit more insight to this issue.
  4. Looks like a nice project to me. Where were all these projects when I had the spare money and time!
  5. Not sure you can get a cert of newness back dated that far if it's lost. You may be able to prove its age and get an related plate easier?
  6. It's a standard ford pump from a mondeo, I think, so you could try a breakers maybe? Or I am pretty sure it's on one of the fuel pump sub looms for sigma or duratec. They are fairly cheap.
  7. 2.3 had a taller block than 2.0 hence the mounts. This, I think, has a block same height as 2.0 with a taller head that ends up overall roughly the height of a 2.3. You can't remove the cam driven high pressure pump, it uses that for the gdi injection and it also needs a high pressure electric pump in tank.
  8. If you dont mind running a bit close to the ground it may just go under the nose but probably still need a bulge at the back for the fuel pump. The oil filler is tall and would need cutting down. The old 2.3 was tall but people got it in s3 with new mounts. I think sv with csr mounts would be ok. The turbo will hit a rhd column. The metric chassis engine braces should miss but the long braces on a csr or imperial car may be too close. Probably need a new inlet manifold on lhd. If you get one in a 7 I know someone who makes an ECU to run both types rather than trying to get ford stuff to work if interested.
  9. Ecoboost and the n/a gdi duratec are basically the same size block and head with a few differences to the old duratec. The cam cover is taller though and the fuel pump and vvt solenoids stick up quite high. The engine is a tight fit in a 7 and would need some bulging of the nose and bonnet to go under.

Cool. Looks very similar to the spec of bits fitted to an SLR or early R400 to me. Would be a result if it is. I'll take it off your hands if you dont want it!

Engine looks interesting. 6 speed and caterham motorsport plug cover it looks like with dry sump. Could be quite a nice engine if it's insides are the sort of spec that those bits often go with. What inlets did you get?

Or in the engine bay. Arch chassis have the tube from tunnel to front corner of engine bay. Metric have 4 small tubes cutting each corner of the engine bay.
  13. Personally I think the round ones look better than those rectangular but the round look much more 'kit car'.
  14. I think, if you are carefull, it is possible to cut off the orange indicator part and glue on a clear part from one of the bling clear lenses. The lenses are pretty cheap to experiment with anyway.
  15. These LED lamps http://www.ledautolamps-uk.com/en/products/slim-line-combination-lamps are a little longer than the trailer lights but smaller otherwise and there is a version with combined stop/rear/ind/reverse (200BIRSTME) that could work. Just fit a centre fog under the number plate lamp and a couple of slim reflectors at the bottom of the rear wings.
  16. No not really any more power to be had in the standard form and believe me we looked for it. You would need a bigger turbo and all that goes with it to get the 100hp. Have a look at this to see what lengths the Japanese have gone to for 0.5hp, i.e. nothing really. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/06/less-is-more-caterham-160/ As to what ideas CCL have for this car I dont know as we all got made redundant last year.
  17. Use 98 if you want for that reason but it won't give you anything on the standard engine spec. I may have been there when it was done.....
  18. 160 is mapped for 95. No gains to be had with 98.
  19. Although my comments relate to the current chassis with tunnel handbrake. The older De-dion with under dash handbrake and curved metal tunnel may be ok but I havent seen what one of those is like underneath.
  20. Not without major work I would say. The tunnel is too narrow with all the metal work in there now and the prop will hit the handbrake mounts on full bump amongst other things.
  21. Speedo shouldnt/cant read that much less as its checked at IVA and so would have failed?
  22. Its probably your website as that looks for all intents and purposes like a trader. Personally I dont care but there are others on here who dont post offering bits for sale as they also are traders as well as enthusiasts. Anyway, it must be a very old box to be 'new' then as Caterham have used recon Sierra boxes for years now.
  23. Production will have priority over aftersales. All aftersales is now through Crawley I think not Dartford.
  24. Or you may strip the thread and ruin the sensor and cat! If doing something like fitting a cat delete probably better to get a new sensor and leave the old one in. They don't like being removed too often, especially if they have been in a few years.
  25. Sport 160 engines did have a distributor when they left the factory so chances are its had the cams replaced at some point. The standard cams gave it a certain character which some people didn't like. The head was machine ported to replicate the prototype hand ported one but isn't highly regarded, usually by those trying to sell there own porting work mind you. The pistons were all standard 1.8 ones and they made about 155ps from memory. If you have the eu3 wiring on it and no drive on the cam could it be a S2 sport 135 or an aftermarket 160 engine?
