  1. They look the same and the markings are almost identical. Just a thought, car headlights are designated LHD or RHD, I wonder what a single light scooter would be?
  2. Sorry I don’t know the number but they should last the life of the engine. K&N recommend cleaning and re-oiling every 50k miles.

    Rust!

New replacement lights I expect at £617 each plus fitting https://caterhamparts.co.uk/headlights/5675-headlight-black-led-lhd-cars-53-4-diameter.html
  4. I think (please check if you are interested) this is the same as the Caterham part. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334784099661?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Jm3zt573R3i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=N1mAWR0DS2q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  5. Wonderful attention to detail, James. It will be a superb engine.
  6. I haven’t noticed it do any harm to gauge. Perhaps the heat from the little lighting bulbs helps them clear.
  7. I tried using my previous Google search technique which failed to produce a decent result. I searched on heater control extend. It seemed to work better before. See attached
  8. Here is a test for fun and a ‘real life’ type of search I might do. There have been several posts over the years about extending the heater control to make it easier to reach. Best technique to find it? 😀

    First Track Day

Same here. I prefer to drive the 7 to and from track days. It is all part of the experience and the day for me. For circuits further away I really enjoy blatting over the day before and camping over.
  10. In case you haven’t spotted this one. Nothing to do with me.
  11. Interesting topic. Does the actual engine itself get hotter (due to the lack of heat dissipation) or is it cooler by insulating the headers? Even with a well insulated engine bay I am surprised by how much heat comes into the cockpit. It’s a bit much in the summer but I am glad of it in the winter!
  12. The Banner is 8kg and 30Ah. The Varley is 5.5kg and 15Ah.
  13. When washing the car I spray the side screens with a waterless wash detailer to help with grime slide off then wash them first before risk of grit on the wash mitt. It seems to have kept the scratch-free.
  14. Is a 2018 car likely to be carbon or sintered plate?
  15. I agree, James “killing it through kindness”. I set this up when I had a stubborn dynamo problem which I later resolved. I very rarely need to use it these days.
  16. I bought this 10W panel and it is superb. Sadly it seems to have doubled in price! I use it with a lorry size battery and it keeps it topped up with ease. I think 5W would be enough for a Caterham or even a normal car size battery.
  17. Couldn’t agree more. I only had a cam belt changed at PP (although there is a lot to remove so not to be underestimated) and it was a joy to watch them working on the car. Such care and attention from all the staff.
  18. The sintered plate type should last much better in a 1.6 with 152hp. Having said that I wouldn’t fit another Titan. I didn’t like the clatter and the service interval is completely unappealing to me. Also, there is no getting away from the design flaws such as over-flexing of the Belleville washer.
  19. This is the ‘official’ position regarding upgrading from 270 to 310 and also the engine changes from 135 to 152hp. Taken from The Magnificent 7 (Chris Rees). S=Street ie more road biased spec R=Race ie more track biased spec
  20. Thank you Simon. I will give the search a go next time I am needing something.
  21. One other question, is it possible to recover the previous message from the previous site? I only have new messages received after the changeover. Again, apologies if it has already been asked.
  22. What has been achieved is a vast improvement and a credit to those involved with it. Thank you again. We are fortunate that a group of members have dedicated so much of their ‘spare’ time for the betterment of the website and the club. I have been wondering about the best way of searching the forum for information; I am usually looking for an answer to a technical query. Is this still best done via a search external to the website? Apologies if this has been covered before!
  23. Please could I have this if it isn’t sold. Message sent
  24. I think mine only discharges into the the catch tank when the oil level is right at the max and on track. I don’t think it generally has much in the way of oily vapour going into the tank.
