  1. This looks neater than my bits of painted wood! I’ll call and see if they sell the kit less the battery, which I don’t need. Thanks for posting.
  2. I believe Caterham fitted progressive springs which seem to make a lot of sense. What do people feel about changing to fixed rate springs, or are similar progressive springs available from protech and the like?
  3. Lucky chap. That will be a fab engine!!!!
  4. Hi Richard. I assume there is an imperial bar and a metric bar (but maybe not) and mine fitted no problem. It sounds like redline have them, so best to check with them.
  5. Yes it is the later bar which you would need for this. Mine is a 94 car so they do fit the imperial chassis. The brackets are metal squares and oxted fitted some padding and then trimmed them to match.
  6. Oxted trimmed the fia bar head restraints in leather to match my s type seats. The original head restraints wouldn’t fit on the drivers side due to the diagonal bar fouling. Really pleased with a neat result.
  7. I’d echo all that’s been said. My xflow was replaced with a std tune 2.0 blacktop zetec 12 years ago. Raceline did the work with lots of their lovely parts used. It has been utterly reliable, with easy torque and 160 plus bhp. I run it on the std twin Weber 40DCOE that the xflow ran, rejetted appropriately. They are at the limit, but fine for this level of tune. I wholeheartedly recommend it for someone who wants a hassle free touring engine. I think the 200bhp spec must be nice, but can’t justify it to myself at present.

    Handbrake

Just use a variation on the heel and toe or be quick jumping from foot brake to throttle as you let the clutch in. Like many others my hand brake only gets used on a ferry or at MOT time. Never been an issue.
  9. Thanks both. I will try the LEDs then. I’ll post a photo when I’m next with the car but the problem with living in London is the car is garaged elsewhere!
  10. My ‘93/94 car has twin wipac reversing lights on the rear wings. One of the bulbs has gone. Does anyone know the bulb reference for these units? They are double ended bulbs. I have seen some led replacements which may fit, but would they cause a problem with the electrics and are they an improvement? Thanks
  11. Looks interesting. Anyone fitted these?
  12. These are fab seats. Very comfortable. Good luck with the sale!
  13. Definitely speak to road and race. They supplied and fitted mine and may have some cost effective options if someone is upgrading...
  14. I agree with wrightpayne. The atb is quiet, fit and forget, and most importantly allows donuts and power slides at will. I’ve not noticed understeer but most of my driving is road based and my track driving some way off ten tenths! Recommended for your usage by the sounds of things.
  15. Thanks. Great to have local info. Now to look at diaries again. I assume no “parade lap” at the six hours?
  16. Cable my first thought. Check the simplest things first!!!
  17. Thanks all. That’s sealed it!
  18. Yes the “parade” laps got my attention!
  19. This caught my eye in low flying. Who has been? I organise a trip to Le Mans most years (classic or regular) for a mixture of 7’s plus mg’s Porsche’s and Morgans. Would this give a similar trip, with added freshness? What are your thoughts?
  20. Yes, that sounds good. Halfords do a classic non synthetic motor oil too.
  21. Valve stem oil seals as others have said is most likely. Did you use a thinner oil at service time? This may account for the more noticeable problem. Xflows like old fashioned oil, not a fancy synthetic.
  22. Hi. Is this for a leather tunnel top? If so I may be interested.
  23. Understood. Your wife is right! Reliability is the key to enjoying any car. If it won’t start or leaves you stranded the the road holding becomes less important! Not to mention the mental space then taken up trying to sort it!!! Good luck whichever route you take!”
