  1. Does anyone have an idea of how the 15" Prisoner wheels compare weight wise with some of the more modern alternatives, and of course a 13" minilite style wheel? I like the look of them, and have no complants with the way my car handles, but have no comparison and am wondering if I am missing out!
  2. Thank you for going to such efforts on my behalf. Really appreciated. So much easier to understand the problem with photos and an idea as to how it should be!
  3. Thanks David. That would be helpful re the R clips as I won't have access to the car until Saturday. Hopefully sounds quite simple to sort, but a good shove didn't seem to do the trick when I tried that. Lube may well be the answer 😳
  4. It would do, but the support has slid forward with the r clips seemingly in place, which doesn't make sense
  5. That would make sense. How do I slide it back? Is it the same lever as the runners or is there another technique? I can't help feeling it is something simple as all seems well with no obvious breakages.
  6. I have the s type seats that date from the early 1990's. They are the ones with the adjustable velcro pads. The under thigh part of the passenger seat seems to have slid forward, but not off (due to a strap that now seems to be under tension). The piece that has slid forward seems to be attached via rods, which are R clipped into tubes from the seat base and are still sound and in place, but the tubes that come from the main seat base don't appear to have moved either. Has anyone any experience of refurbishing these seats, and if so, could they explain what might have happened, and how it might be resolved? I appreciate this description may not be clear to anyone but me, and would be happy to answer any further questions. Thanks in advance. Robert
  7. I left the second vent hole plugged as that was how my previous battery was set up. I assume that is correct?
  8. Thanks for the replies. I did a search, but missed the previous post, so thanks for that. Working on the basis that the boiler can only heat so much water at a time, it seems to make sense to have it hotter, and dilute so that two showers for example can run together. If it keeps the legionella at bay so much the better. I wasn't sure if domestic boilers worked more efficiently at a particular temperature, but it seems not. Thanks all.
  9. Just had a new combi boiler fitted. What temperature should we set the hot water to? Some advice seems to be 60 degrees and then it can be adjusted with a mixer tap. It is currently at 45 which seems a bit low. What is most efficient?
  10. I understood that coolant became less effective with age so clean and clear or not I would replace. It seems mad to go to all the effort to drain down and not add fresh coolant. Is that wrong?
  11. Hi Chris. Very frustrating. I had this issue on my zetec earlier this year having filled the filter, and oiled the rubber sealing gasket. I tried tightening more with a filter wrench etc but it would not seal totally. Eventually fitted a new filter in the same way and hand tightened - no leaks. I could not see any fault in the first filter but there was obviously a problem. No need to drain the oil out- or there wasn't with the zetec. Good luck
  12. Thanks for checking. I am sure that you will sell them. It may be worth waiting until next November and putting them on the bay - if you can store them! Best of luck. Robert
  13. Hi. Do you know if these would fit a E91 330D? I gather than there may be brake clearance issues but that may be wrong
  14. I will take this subject to checking measurements tonight. Thanks. Robert
  15. Yes, I think so as I have one on my 1994 de dion chassis. I am not sure if there are different types, but it is definitely the caged x brace bar.
  16. Thanks Croc. I have seen these before, but I am not sure that I like the aesthetics of them, so would prefer a simple stick on/sucution mounted mirror if I can find one. Thanks for the suggestion though
  17. I have a suction mounted rear view mirror which seems to be failing more and more as the rubber gets old and hard. Can anyone recommend a mirror that will stay fixed, either suction mounted or with adhesive pads as it is anoying when it keeps falling off? Most I see seem to have bad reviews if they are suction mounted.
  18. I have an atb from road and race. It is a 3.92 I think, and is great with a 5 sp and a 2.0 zetec. It will certainly get you donuting and is quiet on the road. A nice predictable diff IMHO. Did I mention donuts 😬
  19. Perfect! Thanks Peter. I will have another look now I know what to look for. Robert Green Zetec with Clams
  20. I have a Golf V 2.0 TDI with a battery that could do with charging. I cannot see how to remove the battery (which I need to do as the car is street parked) and the owners manual just says to go to a dealer. Anyone know how to do this? There is too much plastic and not enough nuts and bolts on modern cars Thanks for any help Robert Green Zetec with Clams
  21. I agree with 7Heavensoon. Some people swear by them, but conditioners have left me on 2 occassions with totally dead batteries at the end of the winter. Removing the cut off key means there is no drain from the car and I've never had a problem, even with 4-5 months of inactivity over the winter. I would expect your battery to survive at least another 2-3 years. Perhaps give it a good charge before you put it away next time? Robert Green Zetec with Clams
  22. Hi Pete I've not bought new tyres for a couple of years but need to shortly. I last had a set of toyo proxies t1r's which were 195/50/15 and I have been quite pleased so thought I would replace with the same unless I have a netter suggestion. They are circa £50 a corner and I thought I would try black circles or similar. Any other thoughts out there? I have ruled out cr500 on grounds of cost. Robert Green Zetec with Clams
  23. Thank you so much for all of the replies! Fortunately, I had to leave the car in the ferry hold over night and came to it fresh in the morning (after about an hours sleep!). It turned out that a poor connection to the battery was the culprrit, not the vecta - and easily fixed. The strange thing was it had been fine all day, and during the wait for the ferry. It just gave up as we were due to load! None the less, I think I will remove the vecta as it is just another possible fault that can be removed. If you could blat mail me the pdf Jingars, that would great. Thanks again to all who replied. It is nice to know that you are not alone when something like this happens! Great Classic Le Mans by the way. Very hot, but the big old Bentleys sliding around arnarge corner were worth the trip on their own!
