  1. I'll have one if you do, please keep us all informed!
  2. Looking at the postings on this, is the general opinion that the Road Angel is better that the radar detectors also available. Presumably, the average motorway patrol office with a speed gun can still get you with the Rd Angel, where as the detector would pick this up, albeit that you will have a few more false alerts? Comments from users please?
  3. Thanks chaps. I must say I have found them good value in central london, many won't insure unless it's garaged. Paperwork follows quickly and certficate as well. I will keep an eye on them following other members experiences. The real test is when you have to make a claim I suppose!
  4. What are the comments recommending a search on Adrian Flux all about. I have searched the WWSC site and found nothing. If some one has negative comments on the firm I would like to know what they are, as I'm insured with them! No more innuendo please!
  5. Do caterham use this type for the supersprint?
  6. Maybe its just heavier (possibly by as much as 20%).
  7. Try this link for the Tony Weale Book www.lotus-books.com I got mine from there a few weeks ago - it's a reprint, but they have plenty. You send a UK cheque to Germany, which seemed a bit odd, but you do get the book. I have a crossflow car and it is an excellent source of information.
  8. What sort of power gains will the 4 into 1 pipe give on a std supersprint engine, and how much louder will it be over the std rear exit system? Will it provide problems with track day noise levels? Any comments greatly appreciated!
  9. I'm interested - how much do you want for it, and any idea how loud will it be with a std super sprint - I'm concerned for track days etc.
  10. Glad to see you're doing something Nigel - someone please help as the last one went bang on the way to Le Mans last year - citroen hire car not the same! Edited by - robert green on 8 Feb 2003 10:07:21
  11. I have a 1700 ss, and although not yet fitted have aquired an FIA bar. The car also has an electric cut off switch, 4 point harnesses and a heater fitted (I think that means the bulkhead doesn't need fire proofing). What do I need to do to the car to get it past the scruteneers? Opinions seem to differ! Also I need a helmet, any recommendations on a good one thats not too pricey? Do I need any other saftey equipment? Any help appreciated!
  12. I have a 1993 xflow super sprint fitted at build with a new caterham supplied engine (ax block). I can't see any kind of elec ignition. Is there one, and if not would anyone recommend fitting one, perhaps the luminition system, or I am I just wasing my time?
  13. The latest craze in London seems to be pushing motorbikes over. Unfortunately some little tyke pushed one onto my seven last night and has cracked the nose cone right at the front. The car is BRG with a yellow stripe and caterham are quoting £400 inc VAT for a newly painted nose which seems a hell of a lot. Can anyone recommend someone who can repair fibre glass and repaint where necessary, in London as this must be a cheaper option. The area of damage is quite small and I think is couldbe patched easily and sorted for a lot less than that, and it would save me going to dartford (they need the car to match the stripe and fit the cone for the car). Help much appreciated!!!
  14. Thanks everyone for your tips and advice. I started with cleaning the plugs up, which helped, but didn't cure it completely. The plugs did look like the original ones fitted though, so now 8 yrs old. A new set from Caterham has cured it completely and she is running sweetly again - just in time for 300 miles in the sunshine this weekend! Thanks all - and the heat shield welds had gone - a new loosely fitted one has done the trick.
  15. Just taken my 1700ss out for a blat. I noticed on my last run that it was missing a little, but it now seems to being doing it a lot more. Basically starts fine and runs normally until you try and use more than about half throttle at any revs. It then splutters and misses a fair bit. I have read the carbs need balancing etc regularly. The car was serviced by redline 2 months ago, and I have since covered about 2000 miles. Is this the likely cause, or is it more likely to be the ignition system? Also, my heat shield on the exhaust system has come loose where it is welded to the silencer and now rattles horribly. Can this be refixed, or is it a new silencer? Any help for a newbie appreciated!

I am interested if it will fit a '94 dedion, and would make a more sensible offer. Please email me at rgreen@johndwood.co.uk for a figure.
  17. Thanks for all the replies, which have been very helpful. I have now bought a lovely 1700ss with dedion chassis, in BRG with yellow anniversary stripe, leather s type interior etc etc. 8000 miles one owner,on an M plate - paid £10,500 which I didn't think was bad as it is immaculate. Thanks again - hope to meet some of you blatting! Edited by - robert Green on 3 Apr 2002 21:22:07
  18. I have now bought one! Absolutely fabulous - would have updated blat chat earlier but too busy driving. Thanks for all the replies. Edited by - robert Green on 3 Apr 2002 21:14:40
  19. I am looking to buy a x/flow seven. Ideally with a dedion rear axle and a 1700ss engine. Must be in very good condition. Fair money for the right car. Call Robert on 07736 120203 (London). Edited by - robert Green on 10 Mar 2002 10:50:24
  20. Has anyone any wisdom with regard to buying a used seven. What are the main things to check and what should I avoid? The model I am looking at is a 1991 dedion super sprint. Any tips gratefully received!
  21. Is your car still available? I am interested if it is.
  22. Is the car still available and where are you?
  23. Have you still got this car? Where in the country are you?
  24. Just want to see how it works. Robert Green
