So the concensus is bush / U/J as opposed to gearbox of diff. I dont mind struggling with bushes and had a bad feeling it was going to cost big time - I cant get under the car until the weekend - will post reply to let you know Cheers again Simon

Diagnostics required please: select gear and start to let clutch bite. as gear engages feel Klunk! once only and doesnt repeat until next gear change. If I ride the clutch slightly to get a really smooth (but slower) change - no Klunk! 1600x/f 19k miles 4 spd box. 1995. Caterham built. Any pointers for the mechanically challenged but willing to have a go. Simon
