  1. Thanks Andrew. I think looking at the battery dimensions that it is going to be too short, as the banner battery is a little longer at 187mm. Thank you for checking. SM25T, if yours is the right size for a banner I would be interested. Tanya give the measurements as: Length 187 mm Width 128 mm Height inc. terms 165 mm Thanks in advance.
  2. Perfect. I'll wait to hear from Andrew.
  3. Great. Thank you both. Happy to have either. Not sure of the protocol for this situation....
  4. Sorry, struggling to post on my phone! If you have an old banner battery tray surplus to requirements, I do have a use for one!
  5. Do I understand the old belt didn't over hang? If so have you compared the new belt to the old one to rule out a wider belt. Assuming the belt is the same then I am out of ideas but at least you have a bttt to catch the eyes of wiser men!
  6. A big thumbs up for redline in Caterham as well.
  7. Will it not be too hot for the glue? How do you plan to attach it?
  8. I had the same recently and was advised that the best course was to pour plenty of water over the affected area. This worked well and avoided adding any more chemical reactions! You do need lots of water however.
  9. Thanks Jack. Probably a bit far, but appreciate your input. Garth, I would be grateful for your contact. Thanks in advance. Robert
  10. Hi Jack. Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm in London SW6.
  11. We have a metal framed chair which has had a weld break for the leg. Does anyone know of someone who could weld it neatly in or near London? Happy to make a nuke the leuk contribution if their is a club member who might take it on!
  12. I am thinking of doing the same on my '94 car. By the time you refurb the bilsteins and re powder coat the springs the nitron street series start to make sense. Are the billies still available new from redline? Would the original spec with the progressive springs be better for a mainly road bound car, or would the nitrons be an improvement over the original set up once refreshed? Any thoughts welcome.
  13. Thanks Andy. I am away now so have removed the battery and will see if it happens again, in which case it may be the same issue you have had. It certainly did nt look like it had come from the breather or cell tops.....may have to invest in a PVR
  14. Highest reading across the battery when engine running 15.09v. Is this likely to be the cause? I assume this due to a regulator failure on the alternator?
  15. Thanks all. Hopefully will be able to tackle this this afternoon as I don't like to think of things covered in acid.
  16. Thanks. Drain tube fitted but I will check it is not pinched. What sort of voltage should I see across the battery with the engine running? 14.5 v?
  17. My battery has leaked. I need to clean up the mess and assume a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water is best. Is that correct? Also, why might this have happened? It is a 3 month old battery and seems to not have leaked via the cell caps. The levels look fine. Perhaps 2 cells are a little low but could it be that it was supplied over filled? How could I test the battery to ensure it doesn't do it again. Battery performance excellent.

That was me and she is British Racing Green, but with a bit of yellow. I was on my way to wales for a 400 mile route around wales thanks to the low flying article. Good weather it!!!! Setting off from usk shortly!
  19. At least he's not after the 7! I hope the sun keeps shining for tomorrow!
  20. HI Barry, I hope the 7 is going well! Have a BTTT on me! Robert
  21. I would recommend a quick call to Raceline. They sell all of the parts you need and can advise what you need. They also sell crated engines. They did my install but I am using twin 40's still and once set up on a rolling road it runs beautifully. It is a great engine and in standard trim but with Raceline exhaust is produces 168 bhp. I would recommend a lightened flywheel. Good luck.
  22. Now had a chance to look at this. A bit of lubrication and all is well. Thank you for those who gave me the solution.
  23. This could be the basis of a useful article for low flying - well I'd find it useful!
