  1. Standard practice for a lot of things I know, but.. If you are refurbing the brake master cylinder take some very detailed pictures of the order and orientation of parts on the two plunger shafts. I was distracted half way through the job and on return a few hours later couldn't quite remember so if anybody has some detailed pictures or assemby schematics I'd be extremely grateful !!! Thanks Rob
  2. Does it do it out of gear with/without raised revs?
  3. Finished fitting mine today. Sopris, I trimmed the edge from the old panel to make a template. Another question tho. The bracket that fixes the floor to the chassis cross member (chassis tube that run across the footwell floor), which side of the floor do you have the rivet head? ie rivet through bracket into floor or vise-versa?

    horn!

On previous cars I've always fitted horns from a Transit van. Everybody knows what they sound like and how good they are
  5. Thanks Jamie. Hopefully the job will be considerably easier for me since I'm staring at a completely bare, freshly powdercoated chassis :-)
  6. But I do have about 6.5 square metres of reasonably thick carbon fibre sheets (about 1.5-2mm) I do not know what to do with at the moment Darn, I wish I'd know about this a week ago as we could've both ended up better off! Is it prepreg or wetlay?
  7. Job jobbed - thanks Jason ECR, mine is a 2000 car. I just checked the thread with the verniers and its certainly 16x1 in dimension.
  8. Wow 15quid on ebay, thats more than expected! Thanks very much. Are we certain Jason before I hit the buy-it-now button?
  9. Hi, I'm refering to the other end of the balljoint, the end which screws into the end of the wishbone Rob
  10. Hi peebs, Just eyeing up the job and would like confirmation if the outboard edge of the floor goes between the chassis and the internal cockpit panel or inside it so that the internal panel is sandwiched between the floor edge and the chassis? Cheers Rob
  11. Hi, Does anybody happen to know the size and thread of this? I would like to run a tap back through the wishbone as I'm having some issues getting the joints back in and would rather not leave them like this (I'm sure brute force would get them in but then I'd never get them out) Thanks Rob
  12. Give the inside of the holes a smear of grease then squirt in some silicon and wipe the front clean. Weather proof and works a treat.

    Stickers

Hi peebs, Anybody know where you can get the side stripe stickers like those on the R500, with Caterham written on it? Not on the parts site (or at least that I could see) Cheers Rob
  15. Hi, last question The disk retaining bolts, did you threadlock them in? If so which loctite do I use? Thanks Rob
  16. Hi, Can I ask where you decided to buy yours from? Rob
  17. Ok, cool I'll reuse the old ones. Do you have any recommendations on the grease I should use to pack with? Thanks Rob
  18. Hi, just got my kit in the post too. Did you guys get new lock nuts to secure the stub axle intonthe uprights? Cheers Rob
  19. Hi peebs, Before I go ahead and order these, is anybody aware of any problems with the front set? ie their sizes are correct (for imperial 2000 widetrack) Reason I ask is I'm aware of the problems with the rear ones they list for the watts link etc. Anybody fitted the full front set? Thanks Rob

    Nose job

Hi Simon, that's an idea I hadn't thought of. The car will be R500 White so a black band behind the carbon band and then tapered into a black stripe could work. You have mail :-)

    Nose job

Hi, i'm having the car resprayed and leaving a bare carbon nose band. I have been mulling over the idea of having a bonnet stripe (on the nose cone too) but don't know if it'll look weird with the carbon nose band. Normally when peebs have a band and stripe they are the same colour. Anybody got a carbon band and coloured stripe? Do you think it'll look odd? Would be interested to see a pic if you have this. Cheers Rob
  22. Yes, I'm sure it's the inner race and yes I use retainer compound. With the front off the ground, if you lever the base of the tyre (like they do in the MOT) I can see the ball WRT to the outer race. The last ones I binned you could feel the movement with them in your hand.
  23. I'm not *doing* anything to them. They are correctly fitted and located. It's the inner ball that becomes loose in the bearing and this slight play then permits vertical displacement between the wishbone and the upright. I'm guessing they don't like all the kerb clipping on circuits.
