  1. These have been sitting at the back of the garage for a while now so have to go. 2x 6.5" x 13" 2x 8.5" x 13" All have black centers, are true, but will need a refurb as they look a little tired. They come free with worn proxys. Make me a sensible offer Rob Collection will be from Ealing west London.

    Caterham parts

Older style FIA rollbar like this except with a single diagnal cross brace. Removed from a 2000 Superlight, Imperial chassis. Currently in Azure blue. £100 (collection only) A pair of half doors like this. These have been fitted with 'lift-the-dot' fasteners in the usual positions. [sold] A pair of cycle wingstays for 13/14" wheels like this. No rust but may benefit from a lick of fresh paint if you're overly bothered. [sold] All parts can be collected from Ealing, west London. I'll have more bits to come shortly Thanks Edited by - bobt on 24 Jan 2012 22:21:20 Edited by - bobt on 25 Jan 2012 16:33:29
  4. Rather sweeping generalization.... I bought the side decals from an eBay supplier and whilst not an *exact* carbon copy they are pretty darn close and of good quality. Rob
  5. That's the one I've always used... Rob
  6. Actually I searched back through my eBay purchase history and found it. There is one listed on eBay here
  7. Ask Karl (emerald) about the baro sensor. I did just that and the one he recommended was available on eBay for little dosh. I would be more helpful and tell you what it is but I'm quite literally the other side of the world from the car right now. Rob
  8. Given that these areas are quite exposed I would not treat them. Any water getting in will drain out under the skin or dry out quickly. Adding gloopy gunk there will just catch more grit and muck.

Or speak to Dave at Premier Paint Guard.
  10. Hi Rhett, I got your mail. I've a few pictures of the fitting if you're interested. There was one part that was particularly tricky and that was cutting the hole for the fuel filler pipe. It may be different with a standard filler cap but if you have one of the new aero design it's a bit more work. The aero filler is designed to be fitted to an ali panel of approx 1.5mm thick. With the Kevlar protection panel bonded on the rear of the panel it's now a few more mils thick and the filler cap front plate and filler tube won't reach to seal. As I'm sure you know, Kevlar is as tough as old boots so thinning that area down to about 1.5mm isn't easy. The only way I found to do it was to use a ball ended highspeed carbide cutter mounted in a fast drill. Be carefully though you only want to thin it down to the carbon behind. Cheers Rob
  11. Hi Rhett, The MOG rear panel is of good quality. It also has a kevlar board set into the main span accross the rear for added fuel tank protection. Both the top and the bottom of the panel has rolled edges. When it came to mounting the panel I used a mixture of bonding and riveting. When you look into the rear wheel arch of your car you will see where the back panel rolls around the diagonal (near vertical) chassis member behind the axle. Just like the original ali panel, I riveted the panel on here and a few along the top chassis (boot) rail. This was the only place I used rivets. The panel is much stiffer than ali and holds its shape so you don't need as many rivets. The rest I used some very small dobs of sikaflex. Probably 4 of 5 along the bottom rail. Once riveted in it ain't moving so you do really only need very small (5pence piece sized) dobs. If you want to blatmail me I can send you some photos Cheers Rob
  12. Hi, I've fitted a mog rear panel to my car. Happy to answer any questions you may have. Rob
  13. Carbon fibre does conduct electricity but not nearly as well as a copper wire. I wouldn't earth from it.

    Which immobiliser

Hi, Yeah I've taken a look at it but I'm pretty sure it doesn't interface with the ECU. I'd rather use the funcntionality built into the Emerald to provide the disabling rather than the imobilizer cutting various vital lines. I'm after an imobilzer that simple transmits an armed/disarmed coe that the ECU can pickup up. Basicall just like the 5AS but with an induction loop fob instead of the poxy plipper. Thanks
  15. Hi, I'd like to fit an immobiliser to my car but not sure which one to go for. I have an emerald which are capable of learning a code so ideally would like one which would interface with that. The next critera would be no buttons! I'd the variety where you just have place a fob in proximity of a sensor to disarm and will automatically re-arm when the fob wonders off. Any recommendations? Cheers Rob
  16. Dave from PPG drove down to me in west London and completely covered both side skins. One piece sheet per side. Awesome job indeed and still looks immaculate. My rear arches are unpainted carbon so look after themselves...

    No beam patten

Hi peebs, Had the MOT this weekend with new SVC 5-3/4 headlights. We could not get a beam patten from one of the lights! Checked that the bult etc was the correct way up and that the lenses in both lights were identical and everything checks out. Any suggestions?? Rob

    Dead speedo sender

It was, but now on the desk next next to me. I've had the multimeter on it and can confirm it's knackered!

    Dead speedo sender

Hmmm not sure we're talking the same sensor type here. I have one of these here 6 speed gearbox sender. Do they come apart then?
  21. Hi, the electronic speedo sender in my 6 speed is dead again!!! The current one lasted 8 months :-( Rather than pay the 60quid for a cheap carp component that CC want is there an alternative? or an alternative (cheaper) supplier? Thanks Rob
  22. Job done. I 'rented' for an hour the 4 wheel alignment gauges and a bay in a local friendly garage. I know how to work the gauges so asked if I could use the equipment for an hour and they leave me to it. To save time, before getting there I wanted to ensure i had the dedion true (which I did) Got everything adjusted and setup within the hour :-)
  23. Hi, is there a datum that can be used to ensure the dedion is central across the width of the car? The chassis mounts of the A frame require packing with washers which will effect the central position. I've been using the distance between the outer face of the dedion ear and the outer face of the chassis tube that runs under the dedion. To achieve equal distance each side, the passenger side A frame chassis mounts need 1.5mm more packing. Is this good enough or is there an official datum? Cheers Rob
  24. 'sticky slicks' Anybody have a url for them? Cheers Rob
  25. Hi ECR, Which of the TRS belts did you opt for this time then? Thanks Rob
