  1. Nic Lots of damaged suspension bits (wheels looked like clarence the cross eyed lion - pointing in different directions) and pride. I'm OK though. Can't bare the thought of turning up in anything other than a 7 but I will be there next week. If I get my wife to bring me I can have more than my usual limit. Rick
  2. so... NOT spotted wrapped around a lampost at Stanborogh lakes. I will not be not-spotted for a while now. Flaps (wings clipped for a few weeks methinks)
  3. How come I've been 'spotted' more stationary than moving? I reckon it's a conspiracy to have me most spotted member NOT driving. I promise I drive most weeks regardless of weather and the Herts Meet will be my witness of turning up wet and cold on winter's evenings - in the 7. And don't worry Rich I do look after it, possible not as well as you but it does get a clean. Rick
  4. so it wasn't moving; I hope. Had been out;Twas a nat nippy, but back in time to watch funny shaped ball and fit blinds that was my job for the day (before my wife got home). Flaps
  5. Just looked out the window (at work) to see above driving down Northbridge Road. Do you work down here or just visiting. Flaps
  6. Nigel Looks like blatmail is down at the moment . Weather does not look too promising this weekend but I do need to get the car back to its usual unwashed state PDQ. My work no is 01442291721. There is the Herts meet 1st wed in February at the Crooked Chimney and I will make an effort to go. It would be good to arrange a little drive out soon. Cheers Rick Steff

    red 7 wgc

spotted by my son, red 7 making good noise through the rear of the Howard Centre WGC.
  8. Oh no! was I spotted cleaning it? 😳 I did go out latter and got it dirty again, I promise.
  9. Malcolm's is great idea because it's through this site that I carry a spare throtle cable (yes and clutch cable) that was used within the 1st year of 7 mtoring. The problem is hunting through a long list. Why not take up Gee Whizz's offer and let him set up a website, avoids worries over this site and getting the administrators into trouble (or worrying about getting into trouble). Rather than a long random list I'm sure GW could categorize into eg engine, suspension etc and then group common failures. We (newbies) would then stand a fighting chance to be on the look out for failures. I know some of you have an excellent ear and feel for whats going wrong and when but a 🙆🏻head like me who's old and half deaf dosn't know its going to happen until it falls off. Gee Whizz are you a Herts man? I seem to think you are. But could be wrong as I'm going the way of Jack in the bl00dy Archers (good God, I've admitted to listening to it) Flaps
  10. Broke my screen after 'chip' went to crack. RAC Windscreens were a farce , bought screen myself from Caterham, fitted it myself. Claimed for screen, carriage AND my fitting cost at £17. Insurance paid for it all less excess. Complained to RAC as I had waited days for them to get it sorted. Nothing. Found email address of RAC MD and sent him a brief email. Got immediate response from MD of their winscreen division or customer service, I'm not sure which, who I must say was very good. Admitted that they had performed below par. Told me RAC were going to place funds with Caterham so that they could obtain quick despatch without sending cheque (this was the cause of the delay - cheque not sent by RAC). I wouldn't trust them to replace my screen and it is quite easy to do. Believe you me, if I can do it anyone can. Flaps
  11. Silver or ali 7 this morning just before 7am. Spotted you through the mist on the 414 travelling towards M1 junction. Flaps

    Prague

Yellow - Spotted by my daughter not sure which day but some time last week.
  13. if you need another magnet drop me a line and I'll send you one; is it diam10x5mm? Some of these are Ni plated and are not always easy to glue, we use twin mix epoxy, sometimes a good idea to give the plating (if plated ie nice and shiny) a quick roughing-up. Flaps
  14. Thanks for the info. A bit more at ease now. Wiring not a problem as not a trimmed car and some while ago had the screen off for that 'in your face feeling'. flaps
  15. Sorry for insufficient info and as I'm married with children unhelpfull advise (and often physicaly impossible advise) is an every day occurence for me. I have hood with poppers, new screen on the way and thought that screen surround would not have pooper bits on it. Have I been worrying for nothing? Do screen surrounds come with the popper bits already there? If so yipee. Flaps (flapping a little less than before)
  16. Having broken my windscreen I have a new one arriving (as it is heated it comes with surround) and I need to sort out the 'poppers' that attempt to hold the hood on (.......long pause to allow for howls of derision, but having been caught in the downpour last week and having to drive in my own in-car swimming pool I have decided that there are occassions when a hood is not a bad idea). How do you do it? I just know I will need a special tool but can someone enlighten me further. I am going to need a guiding hand I'm sure. Flaps
  17. Casbar - your option is now a step nearer, bl00dy screen received a direct blow and now has 3 monumental cracks . All I have to do now is follow the advise of Kevind and leap out of car, slip, sit on doors and hey presto - half doors. ELV15 - these air vent do not appear to be on their web site but are in their catalogue. Have not seen one in the flesh but look like you give the thing a twist to increase forced air into cockpit. Not sure if there was something on this some while ago on blatchat but I could not find it. If you cannot find them drop me an email (richard_steff@magnetuk.com) and I will scan the page and send it to you. Flaps
  18. With summer nearly upon us and having suffered near dehydration in the 7 on the hot summer's day last year, I'm hoping not to miss the day this year but in a bit more comfort. Has anyone fitted the air flow vents sold by GPR? 2 sizes 2" and 3.5". They look as if you cut a section from the 7's 'doors' (the plastic see through bit). Flaps
  19. Phew !!...saved by the bell. Not too much polish, you may set a standard I cannot maintain. Flaps
  20. Ian My last chance to buy before seeking devine approval....are you out there? I shall be looking for white smoke from the pontif's chimney Monday. Marcus - We will probably meet sometime at prayers as we seem to belong to the same 'church'. Flaps
  21. Ian Not sure if you are still in the market to sell. If not, I need to secure papal dispensation for Capital Expenditure and I would need to start this process Monday. Flaps
  22. Ian Fear my e-mailing skills may go the way of all other skills ("...could do better") so I've had another go. My email address richard_steff@magnetuk.com, not around tomorrow (Tuesday). Can hardly wait to be able to do away with the spotted handkerchief on the end of long pole. Flaps
  23. If not gone (some hope) I'll have it. Flaps
  24. Mine also leaks and has done for a while. When topping up I can never get much in so not that worried although I have decided to be a bit more scientific as to how much is used. Followed previously posted advise and cut small hole in passenger footwell opposite filler plug, makes filling a dodle as opposed to scrambling underneath with cut-down allen key. Topped up last weekend and will run for a few hundred miles then......using syringe and a bit of plasic piping will fill. Hopefully I will get a good idea of how much is lost. Would add that a thimble full looks a lot when seen as a puddle. Flaps
