Broke my screen after 'chip' went to crack.
RAC Windscreens were a farce , bought screen myself from Caterham, fitted it myself. Claimed for screen, carriage AND my fitting cost at £17. Insurance paid for it all less excess.
Complained to RAC as I had waited days for them to get it sorted. Nothing. Found email address of RAC MD and sent him a brief email. Got immediate response from MD of their winscreen division or customer service, I'm not sure which, who I must say was very good. Admitted that they had performed below par. Told me RAC were going to place funds with Caterham so that they could obtain quick despatch without sending cheque (this was the cause of the delay - cheque not sent by RAC).
I wouldn't trust them to replace my screen and it is quite easy to do. Believe you me, if I can do it anyone can.
