  1. Last year the Taffia group (5 cars) stayed at Taldwrst Farmhouse - a great B&B. It had a bar and served dinner. About 15/20 mins from the track. Anglesey track was awesome - with great facilities in a lovely location. Andrew
  2. The 2022 Taffia Fish & Chip Run – Saturday 14th May 2022“The F & C Run is something else – expectations have been reset” Derek Hillyard “Great people, stunning scenery and an absolutely awesome route” Alan Tough “Brilliant to see so many people enjoying their day” Tim Holyoake After a successful return to the Club calendar in September 2021 the Taffia are pleased to announce that the 2022 Fish & Chip Run will be reverting to its more usual date in May – Saturday 14th May to be precise. 2021 saw 120 cars (including 40 were first timers), traveling from Chepstow to Aberdyfi Promenade to sample fish and chips in the late summer sunshine. We hope that in 2022 we can welcome a similar number to enjoy the best Wales has to offer in terms of driving roads and scenery. The aim of the Fish & Chip Run is very simple – we want everyone to enjoy themselves safely and that the reaction of the public who see us is equally positive. Being a Taffia event we have a casual start to the day with coffee & bacon or sausage butties served from around 08.30am at our very friendly Pub - The Piercefield Inn on the A466 near Chepstow race course. We plan to leave the Piercefield at about 10.00am - in no particular order, but not all at once, to avoid a large traffic jam of sevens cluttering the towns & villages and frightening the sheep! The 280-mile round trip covers some of the finest roads in Wales, taking in: the Top Gear Black Mountain test road, Epynt Ranges, Beula rollercoaster and the Staylittle Pass across the rooftop of Wales. After this spectacular scenery and tarmac heaven, we hit the prom at about 12.30pm to see the sights, have a chat & breathe in the salty atmosphere before filling ourselves with the local produce. It’s up to you how long you spend on the sea front before meandering back to Chepstow along the same route. A route book, with full written road directions and some suggested fuel stops, will be available at the pub in the morning. The route will also be available as a download from the clubs Blatmaps section to use on your sat nav. There are no fixed drive times, go with the flow at your own pace and try not to get lost. The best bit is its all completely free, no booking, no pre-registration, just roll up at the pub, sign on with your membership number and leave with a grin. The start point is The Piercefield Inn, Chepstow, NP16 6EJ. The Taffia has been looking at ways the event can support the Club’s fund-raising efforts on behalf of its chosen charity – Prostate Cancer Research. One idea we're trying this year is to suggest a minimum donation of £10 per car. You can donate via the Club's dedicated F& C Run Just Giving page. A new option for 2022 particularly if you’re traveling some distance to take part, or just fancy more time to socialise with fellow members, is to join some of the Taffia who are overnighting on the Saturday in Aberdyfi. There’s plenty of accommodation to choose from along the seafront - both hotels and B&Bs. A number of the Taffia have chosen the Dovey Inn as their base for the evening and you’ll be very welcome to join us. Alternatively - after a successful pilot in 2021- we’re again offering the opportunity to overnight on Friday and/or Saturday at our very own free (to club members) ‘pop up’ campsite in a lovely rural location just a few miles from the start in Chepstow. This 7 exclusive site is in a field belonging to a Taffia member and has both toilets and shower facilities. Please contact me if you’re interested in either of these options. And finally – because the Taffia Fish & Chip Run is all about making memories – we’re hoping to have a professional photographer who will take individual photos of the cars en-route against some of the best backdrops. The photo’s will be available to purchase online after the event with a significant proportion of the proceeds going to PCR. More news on this option nearer the event. We look forward to seeing you – old friends and new - on Saturday 14th May 2022. Andrew “I would have a Caterham just for this event”. MRP
  3. A pair of tool storage tubes - part of bulk buy from a few years ago. £10 each or £15 for the pair (plus p&p).
  4. Thanks to Brian Hall and the TD team for a great day out. It was my son's first experience driving the 7, so while he had the confidence of youth, to say I arrived at CC somewhat nervous would be an understatement. I needn't have worried - he quickly adapted from his usual Skoda Fabia to the idiosyncrasies of the 7 and by the afternoon I was happy to let him loose on his own. ( It turns out he couldn't hear the advice I was giving him when I was sat next to him on track in the morning) Next step will be to add him to the insurance...
  5. I use ACF50 every year. Works fine with a cheap plant spray bottle. However you do need to leave the bottle in a bowl of hot water to get the best results.
  6. Hi Michael I’ll take this please. I’ve sent you a pm. Andrew

  10. Having watched my cam belt (2012 Supersport ) being changed last year it’s quite a complex job. Stuart at Premier Power is the man to go to for this.
  11. Yep - that's the same set up I used for my supersport build. Andrew
  12. for the starter/solenoid questions here's my notes from my 2012 Supersport build... There are three terminals on the starter solenoid – two of which are free (the other has a strap connecting it to the starter – which you don’t attach any wires to) To the smaller terminal attach the red/brown wire (it’s actually covered in a black sleeve) To the larger terminal attach - The red heavy duty cable (which the connects to the battery) - The brown wire from the alternator - The thick black cable that comes from the back of the car (it’s part of the loom) For the lambda sensor wire you're looking for should end in a green multiplug (it has has enough cable to take it close to the edgs of the chassis (I wound up the surplus wire and tie wrapped it to the rail at the bottom of the g/box tunnel where the foot well ends Andrew
  13. Hi Jonathan If you're still collecting orders can I have two tubes and two black tool rolls. Andrew
  14. We saw half a dozen Dutch registered 7s in Marlborough yesterday.
  15. Spotted in my office car park
  16. When I built my supersport last year I was equally puzzled. I fitted them inverted as advised by CC. CC did the IVA. When i picked it up and asked for a definitive answer I was told that CC have a special set of front dampers they fit just for the IVA...
  17. Just been reading 24th Oct issue of Autocar - they've just collected a new Supersport for a long term test. I also noticed on p13 a article on the Morgan 3 wheeler which suffered a suspension failure during an Autocar test which " seriously damaged the car and made steering impossible". Morgan are quoted as saying the wishbones are "suitably designed for the intended purpose". The article also says that Morgan has since increased the strength of production wishbones by 20% "to allow a larger safety margin to cover people using their cars for experiences beyond normal road driving conditions" Morgan has said it will supply new lower wishbones free to existing owners who want them - but insist this is not a recall. I wonder if the Autocar Supersport has an update diff cage? I also noted in the CC CEO's blog this month an interest in listening to the views of customers... Andrew
  18. Just had a good look at the diff and cage in my Supersport (1800 miles, 2nd Diff installed at 1100 miles). No marks on the Dedion but both the bolts on the side holding the diff to the cage were loose (one was very loose). Tightened them both up and checked all the other bolts. Having already had an issue with a clonking first diff (and 2nd is only slightly better) which is irritating I'm really not happy to now to regularly have to climb under the car to make sure its not falling apart. Based on what I'm reading here I can't understand why CC aren't contacting owners. I will certainly be contacting them on Monday. Thank goodness for BC. Andrew
  19. My June 2012 supersport is on its second LSD - it is quieter than the original - now it's clonking when on/off the throttle is about 50% improved on the original. Haven't had any whine from either. Andrew
  20. When I took my car for it's 1000 mile check to Millwood I asked them to check the level of clonk in the BMW diff (LSD). They reported that it was too noisy and recommended that it be replaced. I contacted CC who said TADT sir and that a replacement would make no difference ( they speculated that Millwood weren't familiar with the BMW diff) but that if I wanted to swap it I could. So I took out the diff and drove to Dartford to swap it. Fitted the new diff and it did at first seem less clunky. However within 50 miles it seemed pretty much the same as before. So I'm now somewhat perplexed. It's more irritating than noisy. I'm hoping to compare the noise of the diff with others at next Saturdays Llandow track day. When i took the original diff out the oil was black - does that indicate a problem after just 1000 miles? Andrew
  21. Spotted yesterday in Lynmouth, Devon, while we were out completing our first 1000 miles. Andrew C7 WGY
