  1. Hi - thank you, I am in! I now the article printed out, many thanks, Andy
  2. thanks everyone - Dave, I did venture to the 'butty run club' at long itchington on Sunday morning - more American and hot rods, but some kit cars there (no 7's). See you soon hopefully. On another note, regarding registration to login into mylotusseven section -I completed an application form and sent off, and got a reply saying my request was not appropriate? as my car was nor registered between 1957 and 1973? did I go to the wrong place?
  3. Thank you Dave and everyone - I am not registered on that part of the site - sent an application form off. Dave if the weather ever gets better and you are going for a blatt one evening please let me know. Thanks Andy
  4. Hi, sorry for being a technical numpty here but, I wish to take the wheels off my CSR and am a little confused as to the best place to place a car jack and then axel stands. The image in the car manual doesn't seem to fit my CSR chassis layout and short of visiting Caterham and saying 'show me', I am stuck. Can anyone offer advice or, ideally a diagram - if offering description please bear in mind even basic technical desriptions of the chassis layout will pass me by..... thanks!
  5. Can anyone offer their advice or, experience of removing and cleaning rust on the wheel hubs? Also, once this has been removed - will bare metal now be shown? if so, how should this painted and treated? I notice that this part of the car rusts very quickly......... thanks for anyone's comment.
  6. spotted an orange driving briskly out of Davantry around 1.00pm heading down country lane
  7. Hi 7 Wonders - the rattle sound (not the whine sound) is only audiable on lift off - its a lot better, but is occasionally there in all gears - worst of all in 6th. Andy
  8. Thanks for the explanation Paul, got it!
  9. Thanks Paul, I was advised by caterham that the 'whine' was from the diff. This was when they were considering the gearbox noises, and explaining to me the various noises coming from the car. Now the gearbox is quiet I have the whine, andy
  10. thanks smiffy - how about general driving around - mine has a constant whine - pitch changes dependant on speed....... do you have that?
  11. I have had a new gearbox fitted under warranty by CC to my still new (ish/June 2012) CSR. This has solved 90% of the problem - still some rattle on lift off...... However, this nows brings me to the question of the diff. Has anyone got a LSD that makes no noise at all? or is some whine unavoidable? Edited by - andyseven on 17 Sep 2012 15:39:12
  12. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on driving with the doors off? I raise this question, as driving in the unseasonably good weather recently, I found it to be quite a hot prospect. This is with no roof and doors on - mine is a CSR, with the built in super heated interior framework, so hotter than other 7's by some margin I think. I then tried fitting the half hood (from soft bits for 7's) as a sunscreen and removing the doors. This is much improved in warm weather - a nice breeze from the side and a bit of protection from the sun. Does anyone consider it unsafe to drive without doors? I am thinking of stones and general debris flying up and entering the cabin? Also, you lose your mirrors, is this legal? Not the most important question in the universe but would welcome any comment.
  13. Hi Dave, I was driving home after having new gearbox fitted, which seems to have solved problem. I can go out and drive it now! Cheers, Andy
  14. Hi, think this was me. I was on way home from Caterham Midlands. Coming down M69 toward Coventry and onward to Rugby. Andy
  15. Thanks Stationary Traveller, I am asking the question has anyone else had a probelm with 6 speed gearbox?
