  1. Perhaps the belt is a little old and going hard. Might just be worth a change for the few pounds its costs.
  2. So just as an update and for info for anyone else with this original conversion. The 7' cans that Caterham sell are now 2 1/4" inlet where as mine is only a 2' , this was so as to use the original Xflow box. After chatting with JW I have decided to get the can from Caterham and use an expansion piece between the collector and silencer. This keeps thing standard and a local exhaust guy will expand a bit of pipe and either weld or clamp.
  3. Has anyone use powerflow systems.
  4. My zetec car was converted using the original silencer from the Xflow, although the can is a larger vauxhall race 7" that I used to kill some of the noise. The car is now popping and banging and I think the can is pretty much shot.( sounds hollow) Can anyone recommend a replacement can the will fit but be a bit better. The front pipe on the silencer is angled not straight. The system is 4 into 1 and I only want to change the silencer at this point. Thanks Pete
  5. Thanks that looks just right. I remember a guy at surrey used a shopping trolly side for a nice chrome finish 😬 Mick, why not, cowsh1t tour 2
  6. Need to get some black mesh to mount behind grille. Can anyone suggest a good source?
  7. Thanks all, I will go with the green as I am sure thats what was in there before and its a silver top from 2001. Back on the road tomorrow 😬
  8. After a rad repair I have flushed out the cooling system and drained. It looks like the Zetec took about 5l of water. Should it be about 50/50 coolant and water and what colour do I use. I was asked on another car whether it had red or green, tricky question for a guy with partial colour blindness 😬 For what its worth I think its green coolant that was in there.
  9. In Stafford, Friday rush hour on tailer pulled by land rover with loads of kit on the roof. Think it was a 10 reg.......
  10. Yes please, can we possible get this to Stoneleigh as I am planning to try and get there Monday. Or you mentioned Birmingham.
  11. Sounds good thanks, went to Birmingham today to collect the wheel from city powder coating :roll eyes: Let me know, cheers Pete
  12. BTTT, now the fifth wheel is powder coated and ready for a tyre. What have you ?
  13. Thanks for the reply, I do get down south a bit so will see what happens. I only really need the fifth tyre for one trip as Im a tart and would prefer the spare to match. Im going to kill them at Anglesea later in the year.
  14. My point was that the dealer should be able to provide a key, I can read and realised it was a Volvo
  15. Thanks but a bit too far, unless anyone who is going to Curborough this Sat could get it up here.
  16. Caravan suppliers might be worth a look.
  17. From experience VAG group have a kit and there are only thirty different keys for their wheels. AA have them on board. I had been commuting for a while between London and Stafford when I discovered that the service department at Audi had nicked mine, luckily I was at home. To their credit they gave me another one free. 😬
  18. Wanted a single AVON CR322 Academy tyre to complete a set. 185 70 13 Good condition please, if possible for a race tyre :)
  19. Well I do know the left hand signal as well but as it happens it was only the right side of the switch that was playing up. BTW halfords switches are carp, but it will do for now.
  20. Thanks Halfords it is then. Had to stick my arm out of the door flap yesterday to turn right, made me smile 😬
  21. Switch says 12v 15a caterham online parts give 2002 upwards and looks like 250w 10a Will this work with my 89 car and/or should I just go to halfords. Cheers P
  22. Can you confirm tyres are 185 70 13. Could use the 4 newish ones if anyone wants the others, otherwise I would have to bin them.
  23. Thanks for the replies, drilled the rivets out and used a nut and bolt. After spending ages bolting the seat back in it was still shifting. Turns out that the joint between frame and seat was connected in the same fashion. So out it came again and managed to drill out the rest of the rivets and put in bolts. Cant see how these were every designed to last, a big square whole with a large flange headed rivet to take all that wear as the seat moves for adjustment. I expect fixings on modern seats have moved on a bit.
  24. The runners lay flat on the floor so the head of a bolt would need to be flat also.
  25. I have the original style seats from the late eighties. These are mounted on runners for adjustment which in turn are on two lengths of steel. A bend at each end sits on chassis cross rail and bolts through. The runners are riveted to the steel rails but these are very loose which results in the seats knocking fore and aft. The rivets are huge, so my question is how do I replace them, what kit should I use for such large rivets. Pete
