  1. As a newbie to Stafford 18months ago I had the same question. I followed a tip from the guys at the Swan meet and ended up with Newcastle test centre. Ive been twice now and the owner Dave is nice bloke and knows his stuff. A small trek further north but at least he knows the cars. I noticed a new member in stafford noted in the mag this month, is that you? Pete

  3. I recently remembered that mine had not been done for 12 Years, limited milage mind. When we took it off it was in great condition. The view was do it anyway as soon as you can. This was on a silver top zetec running with a cam cover. I was unaware that the stress was put on the belt at start up so became paranoid even up to the point of driving it off the trailer into James Whiting
  4. Try the earth bolted to the wiper motor and also check hazard light switch.
  5. Simonpa. Think I am sorted but will come back to you if it does not work out. Thanks
  6. Its is cheap but when you see the operation you can understand why. They have just hit the market right and their works had hundreds of wheels lined up for collection. Whilst i was there UPS turned up with another set. I think this subject has been discussed plenty over the web but when you try a national company you will pay something like £60 a wheel, and that could be just for a blow over the face not a colour change or complete strip. Pays your money, takes your chance. For me its a whim just to use up some old wheels and give the car a makeover.
  7. Thanks, that answers all the question for me. I am also using the £20 deal with City Powder coating, Ive heard mixed results but they looked good today so will post results as and when if anyone is interested.
  8. Ok, so this is to be the spare so a perfect match is not as important. The ones shown on CC look like a match. Does anyone know what they are and does any one have a matching minilite knocking around to sell. Thanks Pete
  9. Thanks dave, was not sure in they could be put inboard a bit more. Is the clearance always this tight on 13" wheels? Could the fitter use the old fashion clip on type or are they not used any more?
  10. Years ago I put a set of 13" wheels on my car as track day tyres. I run 14"s. At that time I found that they rubbed on the de dion tube just next to the ears. I took a grinder to the problem to sort it and that was that. I now want to use these wheels again but don't want the stick on weights to rub if they end up in the wrong place as they did before. Should I do a better job on the tube to give a little extra clearance or am I missing something. Please also see wanted section for a matching wheel. *thumbup*
  11. I am on the look out for just one wheel. Must be a genuine superlite to match the other four I intend to refurb. Needs to be straight but not pretty. 13 x 6JJ De deon fitment. Thanks
  12. Aleks, Thanks for your mail. I have had someone else put first offer on these and we are just working out collection etc. So if Steve could come back to me to confirm otherwise we can sort out with yourself Aleks. Regards Pete

    Weber 40s

After my upgrade. One pair of 40s jetted for 2l zetec with 36mm chokes. Original chokes of 32mm and jetting for 1700 X Flow included. Vehicle only covered 30,000 miles so in perfect working order. Cant see me ever needing these again so before they go on ebay. £160.00 plus heavy parcel postage. Pete.
  14. With the weather being superb yesterday I managed a nice long blat. The car is very smooth now and full of power, more grunt than I thought I would feel. In fact I even scared myself on the damp roads after the wheels spun up in second purely whilst accelerating on the straight. The car now pulls cleanly from a light throttle at real world speeds with no spluttering at all making driving in traffic in a higher gear more relaxing. The car was always good but the new carbs have seemed to open the power band when the fast road cams come in. Only down side is I found a small water leak from the plastic thermostat holder when the car is hot. I think this is a common fault on Zetecs and age related. Finally thanks to Martin for the loan of his trailer and to JW for another great set up and real world advise. I could have so easily spent 3K on injection, but for me this is perfect.
  15. Well the deed is done. Just returned from Mr JW but with the car on the trailer. So I only had a short spin in her prior to hitting the road but I am pleased to say the transformation was incredible. The first few hundred yards had me wondering what I had spent the money on and I believe this shows how well JW had set the car up all those years ago (2000) Anyway hit a bit of clear road and pinned it and OMG I was grinning and whooping. The power comes in without hesitation and just keeps on giving all the way to the top. The engine now feels let loose and able to keep pulling with torque. Also the fantastic noise is just intoxicating. So after just a few minutes of running you could say Im happy. Cant wait for a bit of time to take her out again. Happy 25th birthday to my Seven but don't expect a xmas present this year.
  16. Surely start with swopping plugs and leads, got to be the easy option first.
  17. Ok time for a U turn. After a long chat with James W Ive decided to stick with the carbs and upgrade to 45s with 5 progression holes. I believe things have moved on since my car was converted in 2000 and the 45s will open up the full potential of the engine. Its sounds like its fits the bill for me and my love of keeping the character of the car. Any views on this set up 🤔

    K200RUM

Stafford Castle car show in the public car park Sunday. No club stickers though.
  19. Just watching some of Chris's sprinting vids and you can hear the difference pre and post injection. Where do I sign. Have resisted doing this upgrade for years as I thought it would ruin the old style of my car but after being in and listening to some fuel injected sevens its time. Also only get 18mpg when driving spiritedly 😬
  20. Looks like this will be an Autumn/winter upgrade so would have webbers for sale but these are 40s. I will have left over the webber alpha ECU and loom, think its the 3d mapped one
  21. So the K6 ECU conversion looks like the choice of many so far, its about £2000. Am i missing anything for the change or does the kit include all you would need. Also how difficult is the change over, Im not mechanically useless but no Edd china. Thanks for the replies so far. If you are sprinting at Curborough in August Chris I will say hi and have a look at your set up. Also hear it run. 22. I am considering upgrading from 40s to injection on my silver top zetec. I am really keen to keep the retro look so would want to retain the KN filters. I run a raceline manifold. Apart from the new tank I know I will need does anyone have experience on what throttle bodies to go with and also ecu would be best. The car runs a kent Z2002 cam as present and I'm not in the hunt for huge power gains but a better driving experience the injection should provide. Have read a few bits on the web but need real world feedback from BC. Also a suggestion of who could take this on fairly local to the midlands. Ta Pete
