    rear shunt

Hey Andy what a pain in the bum, sorry to see the old car in that way. Perhaps its time to put that Zetec in 😬 Good luck with the repairs hope you get it sorted without any problems.
  2. *redface* Only took Martin five years to reply 😬 Edited by - Peter Mears on 29 Apr 2013 12:16:23
  3. Quoting Aeroscreens: I've always used 21Rs on my 7 in 185/70/13 profile and have found this to be an excellent tyre for the road and cheap as well (I think the current price is £47 inc VAT). Hey Chris where did you get them at that price? Ive been quoted 50 + VAt at Polley?

    Yoko A021

GP just quoted £50 + VAT for 185 70 13. Expect thats plus delivery, but thats fine by me.
  5. Its all part of the fun and you will look back at it with fond memories one day. We still dine out on the year we blew an engine in Paris and got relayed all the way home. I still have a photo of us on the side of the road in France with a broken alternator and good friends helping us fix it, makes me smile every day. Get home, have a beer
  6. Thanks for all the replies, I will get them done with that company in Birmingham as they are cheap and near by. So who sells the cheapest tyres for that size, is it polley. BTW tyres will be AO21s or similar not Wanley ditch finders 😬
  7. Ok, so ride height should not be a problem and I used to run 13 60 profile as a track tyre. I know 70 profile are a lot cheaper but what about the point where they run out of grip? The 60's do not flex too much on the side wall and I've got used to the feeling when they break free. Are the 70s going to feel much different? Thanks for the replies so far
  8. Having owned my car for over 15 years I have always run it on 14" wheels with 185 60 14 tyres. These are the KN skoda style wheels as they are original and I like the retro look. I have some 13" rims that are mini light style and after a matt black repaint might put on the car. So the question is will I get any adverse handling surprises if I go up to a 70 profile tyre. I expect a softer ride but does anyone have views on this change. I will keep with the AO 21s that Ive always liked. I think Ive seen pictures of Eugene with this set up

    Towing

I towed with a Alfa Romeo 145 Cloverleaf, 2l Skin, Pudding, need I say more
  10. Just replaced my 12 Year old 21s (yes I know) with new of the same. Like having a new car again, can recommend them For 14" camskill came in the same cost as polley, although not sure for 13".
  11. Not wanting to post or deliver but make a donation to ntl and collect and you can have them.
  12. Ive got two 21s. good tread but a bit old as 2001 vintage!
  13. *mad* Wow you need to be quick.... second dids on that please 😬
  14. Well as it happens I did order the Motorcraft one as used by James W. I do trust his judgement but could still only find them at burtons.
  15. Thanks just what I need. I think the longer one may not work out and I would prefer to use the same as James did before. As you can see I am going to service the car myself this year now I have time Next challenge will be carb balancing 😳
  16. I have at present a motorcraft EFL500 oil filter as fitted to xflow and lotus twincam in place on the car. Does the longer efl600 as stated for the engine fit in the seven 🤔 I can't seem to find the 500 anywhere apart from Burton and they want as much to deliver it as to purchase 😳 What part (Number)is used by others on the 2l zetec. Thanks
  17. Well that was a lucky escape, I thought about getting a set of these to replace the carp 21s. Not now, will stick with getting the yoko again
  18. For sale Five K&N Jupiter wheels 6x14 DeDion Black with alli rims and facings , would need refurbishment or use as track set. 3 free tyres, yoko 21s good tread but 2002 vintage Period wheels for early nineties crossflow, nearly collector's item 😬 Bought years ago to achieve a complete set on my car and have just moved house with me. Collection or maybe deliver if not too far. *idea*Make me an offer to get them out the way 😬 Edited by - peter mears on 12 Aug 2012 20:31:57
  19. Does anyone run a James whiting silver top Zetec conversion 🤔 I'm after replacing the waterpump hose and need a part number of a silicon replacement if this has been achieved. The part is larger at the pump end with a 90 degree turn and then it joins thinner ally tubing. The Raceline water rail has a totally different setup.
  20. Well polley came out as £50 for 13s and £80 for the 14s all plus vat. Avon ZV3 as fitted to Roadsport are £45.00 inclusive from most high street fitters. Quite a difference in cost then, so two sets of avons or one Yoko *confused* Camskill suprised me at being as cheap as polley
  21. Sorry to go on about tyres as its been done to death but does anyone have views on the Avon - 185/60 R14 - ZV3. I am running a 2l Zetec with about 165bhp.
  22. Thanks Nick hope you are having a great trip, shame about the weather. I am attached to my rims as they are original to the car and have been refurbished, I like the retro look you see. I will go with the 21s and get a price from polley. I do have a set of minilite 13s with worn 32s on them so might think about getting them powder coated with that company in Brum as they are £20 a wheel and getting a set of 70 profile. perhaps matt black would look cool/retro. thanks for the info.
  23. 5000 miles 😳that will keep me going for a few years 😬 Anyway staying with the 60 profile, do you know (mick) what the main differences would be between 21 & 48 putting aside wear. I know you have had both! From what i remember 48s are not as good in the wet, allthough are less expensive it would seem. 48s might look a bit modern on my retro mobile
  24. Not got a reply from Polley yet but Camskill come in at £393.56 for four delivered. You have to get an email wih a discount code first
  25. Have always run at 19psi, so thats not the problem. Just think they have gone hard, so looked at Demon and they want £114 each 😳 48s were cheeper which surprised me. Anyway have asked polley for a quote on four 21s. Might just eek out the summer on the old ones and will then have seven used tyres for sale/donation to ntl, worn enough for an airfield day.
