  1. Martin Many thanks, rec'd your mail and have sent one on to Simon. Cheers Alan
  2. Tyrone Thanks I have had a look at the roll bar but my car is mid 90's de dion and I dont think it will fit. Reason for search is Caterham are out of stock and no clear indication when they will have stock. The tank is interesting I am trying to find out how easy it is to fit and where the various connections are. Concept of a large tank is interesting but having said that standard tank means I need to take regular breaks on longer journeys which is no bad thing. Cheers Alan
  3. Suspect this is a long shot but I am looking for an FIA/Track Roll bar and for a fuel tank for a carb engined car. Alan
  4. Graham I have been thinking of doing htis for a while where did you connect the return from the expansion tank? Is there space above the old style heater for the tank? The space above the passenger footwell is already full with a fuel pump and pressure regulator? Alan
  5. Danny - sorry I cant help and I promise not to rub it in if the sun is out and you turn up in the tin top. Alan PS to save double embarssment first thing i did when i got home was put mine on charge!
  6. Danny - I make that you have 19 hours to get it fixed!
  7. I inherited a facet pump in my XFlow. Its mounted on a small frame just next to the heater. It does make a fair amount of noise but only audible at tickover after that it is quickly drowned out by other noises! It must be fairly old now and I am considering changing it put whatever I replace it with needs to be able to keep up with the prodigious thirst of twin 45's! There is a pressure regulator between the pump and the carbs. Mine is set up with a big red switch in the dash that I can push in to turn it off in the event of an incident. Its not marked what it is so I also turn it off when I leave the car as an attempt at security. I have read somewhere that you could also put an inertia switch into the electrical feed to turn it off automatically in the event of an accident. I think the thread said use a switch from a Metro. Alan
  8. comments as above but use a magnet to find where the steel frame is you are best avoiding that. Alan
  9. may not help that much but when I had a new exhaust made a few months ago I paid nearly £50 just to have my old one adapted because I was told that would be cheaper. They were putting a slight offset in the output side to help raise the silencer. Alan
  10. Hi - might be interested. Thinking about what to do with my engine either ugrade as is and thus these pistons would be of interest or change whole engine to a Zetec. So I will keep doing my research and keep an eye on this thread to see how it develops. Alan
  11. Try Simpson Race Exhausts in Langley nr Slough - I dont have the phone no here with me but if you send me an email i will send it back when I am next in my office (Monday). They did a good job for me and I saw several other makes in there whilst i was there inc Cobra and an old Ferrari. THey make all sorts inc to exhausts for the Lola. Alan
  12. They did both of mine for 250 earlier this year and as far as I can see they replaced the plastic back panel and a fair amount of the foam. Having bought cloth ones second hand I ended up with 'as new' leather seats for a lot less than new. Service from Oxted was good, I dropped the seats off and collected them three days later. Alan
  13. did I not see you out 'testing' this on Sunday afternoon on that nice road from Waddesdon across to Long Crendon? Alan
  14. I saw reference to a kit that did this in a book and have been meaning to enquire for a while. I suspect it is not something that CC will have but one of the other specialists may have or will have already done before and can therefore easily replicate. When I get around to this thats what I will try first, my fabrication skills are non existant. Alan
  15. I have just taken off my old and very battered four in silencer and replaced it with a new 6' repackable item. The old one is bashed along the bottom and on the side nearest the car. It connected to a 4:1 collecter which I have retained. It works and may be useful for you to see what fits. I changed it to try and reduce upset of neighbours but it is good at setting off car alarms! You are welcome to it if we can get it from S Bucks to you somehow. Blat mail me as broadband not working at home so only looking at blat chat occaisionally right now. CC do 4 and 5 in options not sure where else you can go except more expensive items. Alan
  16. If its a 4 into 1 exhaust a trick I was shown by James Whiting is to weave a large jubilee clip around the two loose fitting pipes and in between the two that are bolted. This cured the rattle on mine but I can still get the bangs etc on overun if I really want to! The four primary pipes on mine are bolted to the cylinder head with no gasket or sealant and this works fine. Alan
  17. I got a plain glass no problem last week, ie not in the frame. I was quoted several weeks for one in a frame either plain or heated. They have none in stock and several on back order. I was asking for anodised finish not black, so that may be different. Alan

    Ignition Key

I struggled for ages to find someone to cut a spare key, eventually suceeded with in a small shop in Thame! If its any help my car from 86/87 turned out to be a Jaguar lock, I had been told it might be from a Rover or Mini.
  19. I had a few problems when I first got my X Flow two years ago. I have done the following:- Fitted new hoses - insrance really Took the rad out at the same time and flushed it through several times. Bought new thermostat and new switch for the fan On mine the fan was mounted to far back so I bought and fitted a new fan that mounts direct onto the rad. I needed to move the rad fowards to do this. Be careful if you do this the clearance between rad and nose cone is small, it will rub through the rad very quickly. I have also fitted an overide switch for the fan. No problems now, even survived some log traffic jams en route to Le Mans in 05 in high temps. All of this is with a standard rad and it us a slightly uprated supersprint engine.
  20. Dom I would be interested as well if you do not sell them once you have sent the pictures. Respond via blat mail please as I am en route back from Asia and will have email access but not internet for the next day or so. Alan
  21. call oxted just had my old cloth seats refurbished to full leather by them and it seems they have used new plastic panels etc etc. look like new seats for a fraction of the cost of new from CC. Great service, agreed it all last friday, dropped them off on Wednesday and got them back this morning.
  22. CAll redline components, late last year I got one from them. They appear to have had some reprinted. Cost £25-30 inc P&P and it arrived the next day
  23. Mine runs fine with no gaskets and a minimal amount of compound, as recomended by JW
  24. Nick Thanks for the reply. Sorry for being slow to respond but I was in China and I am now home. I was thinking of going to 7 workshop anyway to see what they had to say. Alan
  25. I might go the same engine upgrade route next winter. Where did you go for the engine work? I already have what sounds like the same exhaust but what silenecer are you going to use. Mine needs replacing now so I may as well get it right for a probable engine upgrade. Alan
