  1. Replaced my dampers at the start of the year with "rose" jointed rears.. off the top of my head think i paid £190 for the pair with springs from Avo, only problem i had was, you have to manufacture sleeves to locate the damper were it bolts to the axle (steel inner tube of a rubber mount cuts up well!) i also replaced the rubber bushes frount (less the lower frount ones)and rear with powerflex bushes which in my mind totally changed the handling of the car I do have the order list from powerflex for the Super sprint , its fairly straight forwards but the A frame bush is a s*** to fit back into the axle Regards Lardy
  2. Many thanks for the great advice,,,,it does give me something to think about. regards to all Lardy
  3. In the long run yes it would be an option....and i did have plans to buy new next year, but it seems that my Ex has cleared out my account to the sum of 140k ahh gone have the dreams of a new Caterham! so a slow rebuilt is the new plan!
  4. Thinking about doing away with the Ital live axle and going to a di-deon configuration, are there any companys that would do this retro fit to a 94 super seven? ie brackets and alinement, looking to reskin and powder coat chassis at the same time. also what dif is used and what halfshafts? are they a Caterham item or can i keep the costs down.. sourcing from breakers? Im going down this road with the intentions of replacing the x-flow for Zetec or Duratech in the next couple of years. Many thanks Lardy
  5. I Upgraded my girling g14 calipers with mintex 1144 pads did all the bedding in procedure as recommended by Mintex then nearly "T" boned a police van several weeks later! The brakes are still not what i would have exspected, new disks were fitted at same time as pads and de-greased, system brake fluid was replaced and bled, thinking of fitting bigger master cyclinder or going whole hog and fitting 4 pots at the frount, anybody replaced master cyclinder for a larger diameter and found a great improvment? I think rallydesigns sell wilwood 4 pots for a Triumph spit hub anybody gone down this route? or any thoughts? i can lock up the frounts but it takes a hell of a push and the braking is not as progressive as i would like. regards Mark
  6. Nev let me know how you get on.....thinking along the same lines as yourself mark
  7. Jorge sent me a photo of the Fiesta thermostat housing which has a small vent pipe on the top of it returning to the tank thus removing that air trap around the thermostat,Does the Escort mk2 have this small pipe? And yes looking at the Polo tank looks quite a nice fit ....off to the breakers yard!
  8. Yes please Jorgen mail it to lardy40@aol.com spoke to James whiting they did do the kit but supplies of the metro expantion tank have dried up. Many thanks to to the Rover part numbers Rishy I'll have a mooch around and see if i can source one
  9. Hi All Looking to retro fit an expantion tank to my X-flow, can anybody who has done this recommend a tank to fit, i would rather find a make now than rooting around a scrap yard also has anybody used these hose joiners were a hole is punched through the cooling hose the device is then pushed though the inside of the cooling hose and tightened to produce a tee connection, are they any good? will they take cooling system pressure? Many thanks
  10. over one third of the piston face that presses up against the back of the pad is missing.....its been explaned that it is to stop squeeking?
  11. while changing pads and discs on my seven i found that one of the girling calipers has a 2mm deep step on both of the pistons were they press against the pads, this step is about 140 degrees of the total circumferance of the pison, in my mind these pistons are not putting full overall pressure on the pads and i cant see why. Any thoughts?? or Why?? many thanks Mark
