  1. Many thanks for all the kind words - competition had been incredibly close all day, so to say that I was thrilled to win would be a gross understatement! A memorable day's motorsport - thanks to those who made it so special. Paul
  2. So that's all my excuses for Blyton down the drain. Goes well, doesn't it? Paul
  3. Thanks for the advice; logic suggested that the pedal would pivot on the bush, but pressing the bush out was quite a task. I'll get on with the polishing. Paul
  4. After the car being laid-up for the winter, it has emerged with a seized throttle pedal. Slackening the securing bolt instantly freed the pedal, and I'm now mystified as to how it's worked satisfactorily for so long. The bolt was very tight, with a spring washer, so I was assuming that it clamped a bush upon which the pedal pivoted, but the bush in the pedal is clearly not designed to move. As far as I can see, the only way to restore it's operation would be to slacken the bolt, to allow movement - surely this can't be right? Paul
  5. This sounds like a fun day, please put my name down. Sounds like another great opportunity to try to catch Matt round Blyton; give it your best shot, Rob! Paul Collins
  6. Again, thanks to Simon and Matthew for putting together another varied calender for next year. As i'm close to Curborough, it's only fair that I should help out with the Intro to Sprinting day; just let me know how I can help. Paul
  7. Thank you, i'm happy to be included. See you all on Saturday. Paul
  8. Paul - Sorry the sale was completed tonight. Mark - So there!!! Paul
  9. Selling my wife's SLK, as advertised here This is a really nice car, the opposite end of the sports car spectrum to the Caterham; a relaxed and refined cruiser, a very agreeable way to travel. And the roof goes up in about 20 seconds. The AMG option pack makes no difference to insurance, but gives the car a much better stance and better handling than the standard model. We have had the car since 2005, and are only selling because there is now a need for another car with 4 seats. Needless to say, we wish to offer a better price to club members; we would accept £3500. Please feel free to Blatmail me with any questions or for further information. Edited by - PaulCo on 18 Jul 2013 21:48:28 Edited by - PaulCo on 18 Jul 2013 22:06:02
  10. I thought you'd taken the starter motor issue hard on Saturday, but hadn't realised it was quite that serious! What a sad piece of news; I've always enjoyed meeting up at events over the years, and although you have modestly played down your achievements, it has been great to see your successes. I do hope that you get to more events, even if only as a spectator. A true sporting gentleman. Paul
  11. So although the car didn't make it, the trip to Curborough was still worthwhile. Thanks to Simon and Mark for advice on the cause and cure of the oil leak (nice car, Simon!) And special thanks to Graham and Rob for generously letting me drive their cars - a privelige, given that they are fellow Class 2 competitors. Did I learn anything? Yes - that discovering the impressive torque of Graham's 1800 while mid-bend will put you on the grass (sorry Graham), that it probably is worth spending a bit on better shocks, and that Rob's seat only fits Rob. Enjoyable day - better get on with sorting the leak, now. Paul
  12. In case anyone hasn't seen my ad in For Sale here. Sorry I won't be there for the BBQ, Rob! Paul
  13. Due to catastrophic failure of the rear crank oil seal this afternoon, my place at the Curborough Test Day on Tuesday 23rd of April is up for grabs. It looks like the weather will be fine, so this will be a great chance to drive one of Britain's best sprint venues. i will accept £40 or best offer, and as I will be going to the circuit to say hello, you pay me when you get there. Paul
  14. Oh go on then - might as well make it a pre-season Class 2 party. Best get the car washed Paul
  15. A fair reflection of a great weekend - sitting in the sun outside the Class 2 weekend holiday cottage discussing the important issues (anti-roll bars, ride heights, sandwiches), interrupted by short spells of competition on one of Britain's finest race tracks. Any chance you could email me images 2044, 2045, 2047 and 2074, please Chris? It was good to see you again. Paul
  16. It was a great relief to see you on the way home last night - we'd heard that you weren't too badly hurt, so it was good to get reassurance. Looks like you have a winter project now. It'll fix. Best wishes, Malcolm. Paul
  17. I have two new and unopened 1 litre bottles of Caterham Gearbox Oil that I no longer require. null I'm looking for £20 for the two, plus postage, or collection from Derby (or Anglesey next weekend). As an incentive to collect, I will include a further part-used bottle of the gear oil (wouldn't want to post this!) with the deal.
  18. Just to add my congratulations to Graham - after a quietly amassing some very quick times all season, Graham produced the clincher last weekend. Despite the gearbox issues, I was still properly out-driven by Graham and Jon at Aintree. I've now taken the box out of the car and given it a damn good kicking before it goes to Road & Race next week. Ah well, next year, next year. Paul
  19. Richard, I have found a pair of "low" headlamp brackets in the garage - basically these are flat tubes with mounting rings at the ends. If you want them, I can drop them off on the way back from Aintree on Saturday. Paul
