  1. I think you need a Class Action like we VW owners deduct the 40 kg of fuel and you're there

  3. 8 quid apiece for a 5p bit of flat ally
  4. Remove first, then give it a good wash with water with a drop of shampoo or washing up liquid, leave to dry in the airing cupboard, then a suede brush
  5. Remove the dampersand move the circlips supporting the lower platform to a higher groove, or if there are no other grooves get them machined in.

I had it on my first V5 in '96 and on the replacement EU jobbie, but in those days it was even less clear and I mot'd it brand new ........it passed, but that was pre-emissions regs By the way, we all played hell when the replacement EU V5C added 'Assembled from parts all of which may not be new', but to no avail .....Brexit rules

  10. I'd get it dry-sumped, but I'm old fashioned, and from what I've seen it's not too expensive on a Duratec. It will also give you peace of mind and the possibility to use cheap second-hand slicks rather than ruining expensive CR500's.
  11. Tom, In a '96 car with the original spring rates and weedy front ARB and no rear ARB, you'll have massive roll and you will grind the exhaust down if you do any track work.
  12. My car had the '96 special powder coating' when they skimped on pre-treatment, so after the first year, I brush painted all the tubes that don't show plus the DD with 'Hammerite with Waxoyl', and they're still good.
  13. I think this http://www.flogas.co.uk/superser-f250-winter-heater-package might be better, although not on all the time
  14. Yes, you would be amazed at what you see on msds's. Back in the 70's and early 80's msds's were very rudimentary and often used the phraseology 'patented blends' to disguise the components from potential competitors ..particularly used to be the case with US based companies. Nowadays you don't see it too often and in this case it's the US company who are being more explicit. Even so we sometimes find that even the biggest corporations sometimes get their classifications wrong, but they are not deliberately evasive.
  15. John, You'll never find the risk phrases for 'Patented blend of synthetic diols' in the European regs., that's why it's not classified. However if you were to reveal that those diols include EG then that would be a whole different matter, and you might well classify the formulation in the same way as the US-derived msds. Also the fact that it contains a substance that might be loosely called an 'antidote' has no bearing on the toxicity of the other components of the mixture.
  16. Ethylene Glycol - don't drink unless you're down on your luck and /or Russian http://www.hrpworld.com/store/media/media/manufacturer/evans/pdfs/Evans%20Waterless%20Powersports%20Engine%20Coolant.pdf
  17. Rich, You are exactly the size of person that Chapman designed the original seven to accomodate, so forget the SV and go for the S3
  18. This on Piston Heads you may find useful http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=101&t=1341653&i=20
  19. They're only modern in terms of engine. The chassis is steel tubes with an aluminium wrap and that's a recipe for dissolution in the presence of an electrolyte such as salty water. IMHO sorn the car from November to March, get the jobs done, and enjoy it March or April on, when the weather's good enough to use it properly.
  20. There was a comparison in a recent edition of Auto Express (just a month or so ago, and might be still on the shelves.), but I can't remember which was best...but it certainly wasn't the most expensive. However the results from their 2015 test were: 1. Panasonic EY75A2 2. Makita DTW281 3. Draper CIW24 I've got a feeling the Draper came out best budget again this year, but someone else might still have the issue

  22. " There's a surprise ......... [Weeping] " ....the fact that Alex had driven through the Moroccan (?) desert might have had something to do with the cost
  23. " The VX scavenge pumps are no longer available new so rebuilding (by Titan) is the only solution now".............and my rebuild cost at Titan was more than the original cost of the pump
