  1. Anyone else fitted one of these fuse box covers and did it need modifying to fit the bit that tucks under the dashboard? Mine seems a bit tight although I have got a main circuit board for the dash that may be hampering fitment? Nick
  2. Thanks Guy, no access to welding or metal press so not an easy job for me. Bought some from Redline today as Chris seems to be up and running again. Did not think about Arch and not sure if they make these for Caterham, seems a bit of a small order to start bothering Bruce or Phil?
  3. More information please Guy. What tools required? Welding required? How did you form the bend in the metal? Can you make others as it will cost me close to £45 from Caterham/Redline?
  4. Alan Just seen the post from Chris. Maybe it would have been prudent to post up before he up sticks and moved so we could have given him some slack. Posted up something on his website or Facebook page or have an answer phone message to keep customers informed? Seems an odd way to run a business? As I said I want to support small businesses especially in the Caterham world. Nick
  5. There are 14 relays on the board, gonna be lucky to find which one is sticking.

  7. Thanks Andrew will probably order some. Ray, noted but just a holding email would have been nice after a couple of weeks and I did send a follow up email. Want to support Chris but also need to get an order in. Nick
  8. Scott, finally had chance to look for the main board tonight. Being an R500 there is spare room behind the dash on the passenger side. It is situated here. All the plugs look well seated and the board looks fine. I would love to know who made it for Caterham and what the 9 pin D type plug is for, assume some sort of test rig connection? Nick
  9. Good question, almost impossible to say without removing the scuttle. In fact I cannot even locate the main board, it's not above the heater like Scott's car? From what I can see the car wiring is not the neatest.
  10. Appreciated Scott. My car was purchased from Millwood and Jon has been excellent at sorting out some issues with the car. It will be looked at by them/ their chosen repairer but I am a little worried about the intermittent nature of the fault and the distance to the repairer so trying to work out if it has been an issue with other cars. From your post it sounds like the board can fail. Agree that it seems like a good idea to have a spare board. Nick
  11. Thanks Scott. I suspect it does come through the board as the board has relays to control the higher current the switches cannot cope with. The tip regarding AV mounts sounds sensible. Do you have any photos of you fitting it? N
  12. Hi Jonathan. Car is 12 years old with <3000 miles when I picked it up so not much use in that time. No battery cut off switch, going to get one fitted soon. Has a new Banner battery, charging I would say is normal(why wouldn't it be, not sure of the relevance, it starts and goes ok). No voltage problems indicating on the dash. What is the reasoning behind disconnecting the fan, it does not cut in until about 100 degrees anyway and car is not that hot when I go to switch it off? Nick
  13. My recently purchased R500D has an intermittent issue that when I try turning the engine off the car remains running. I have replaced the Savage switch and contractor block with a new one which I thought was defective as the block was not fitting snuggly on the switch body but the car is still the same. Anyone else with a R400/500D had this problem? I am starting to suspect the instrumentation PCB, see link below. Seems to do it when the car is warmed up and the only way to shut the car down is the stall it and disconnect the battery. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/other/3751-instrumentation-circuit-board-r500-seven-485.html
  14. Been waiting for a reply from Redline about whether they can supply these and not heard anything so went to order them from Caterham only for the LH one to be out of stock Anyone ordered ones from Kitcardirect http://www.kitcardirect.co.uk/caterham-s3-easy-swap-retaining-channel.html and where they reasonably quality and did they fit OK? Nick

  16. I have the first SGS one on your list. Works well with the Caterham. Struggles with the tin top.
  17. That is indeed a useful service. Can you get a heated windscreen replacement offer done as well? This sort of thing is what owners clubs should be all about.
  18. £107.49 + VAT for those then.
  19. UL4 C232 x2 = £250 + VAT = £300. Mintex 1144 pads (Lotus Elise) £60.28 +VAT = £72.33. AP Uprated master cylinder 13/16" £330 . Total upgrade £702.33 plus shipping and brake fluid.
  20. How much do the calipers weigh? I like my HiSpec Ultralite 4s. 925grams each compared to over 3kg for the originals. £125 each from HiSpec. Have always performed well. Nick
  21. I have used ATE super blue in the past and changed to ATE type200 amber but the super blue is not for road use because of the dye so does not meet the dot4 spec.
  22. Read this. https://www.lotus7.club/forum/techtalk/demystifying-k-series-starter-solenoid-circuit I would disconnect the battery. Then disconnect and clean the solenoid leads, reconnect them, reconnect the battery and see if it starts. Seems to be a number of different issues with the starting wiring on K series cars caused by poor design. Nick
