  3. Like Chris ,since fitting an LED in place of the dim lamp Caterham fit I always see my indicators are on and cancel. Nick
  4. No bids on them so why don't you email the seller with a price and he can take them off Ebay. Zero bids means no problem removing from Ebay. Nick
  5. I may have photos of my old Megabird prop but won't be able to get them to next week as I am not home. Nick
  6. Giles When I replaced my prop Bailey Morris recommended I replace the nova racing rubber cushion with a a universal joint and put a through tube rubber coupling similar to the drawing you linked to. I have the electric reverse option and this means you can get the angle closer to zero. Do you need a reverse? Nick
  7. Geoff Paid by card yesterday and form in the post. Nick How's the Hayabusa?
  8. Well I have a record of 11 BB chassis numbers when I started the register some years ago. 2 have the S in the number indicating factory built, the rest have a K for kit built i.e. BBMS/FWMC. Unless these chassis numbers were made up at the time which I assume not this indicates two factory built I have found so far. These are all so called original cars, there are several other cars with chassis numbers indicating they are converted from X flow/K series cars. I also looked at the dark metallic one at Caterham some years ago and it was owned by Simon Summerville(Ming on here) and then sold to Rod Hudson. The first owner of that car was Steve Frost. The gearboxes can break....so can K series engines, I have had one go in the 13,000 miles I have driven mine, and have been to Le Mans 3 times. The cost of repairing a Blackbird compared to an R400/R500 is peanuts in comparison. Nova Racing do a gearbox replacement set which is supposed to be much more robust and should I have any problems in future I will fit one of these, although Ebay engines still come up that can just be shoved in without any modification. Anyway, lets get this post back on track and leave Pete to sell his lovely car. If anyone wants to talk to me about owning a BEC then please blatmail me. Whoever ends up owning this car will experience a Caterham like no other. Nick
  9. Matt I do not think there is such a thing as an "official" Blackbird or "an original" one, from what I have gathered talking to various people it was all a bit mix and match when Doug Newman, Paul Harvey and Andy Beveridge built the cars, and cars where swopped around depending on what was required at the time. Mine has the Stack dash and injection engine, some had the Blackbird clocks and carbs. There have been quite a few that have come up for sale over the years including one Caterham built in house. Engines are still readlily available on Ebay. I have also driven a Fireblade, brilliant car, felt really nimble. Nick
  10. Matt 5 original 🤔 Where did you get that number from? When I did a register I found 12 cars of which 2 were built by Caterham, the rest by Blackbird Motorsport/Four Wheeled Motorcycle Company. This Fireblade is lovely 🥰 , good luck with the sale, wish I could own two BECs, they are all fantastic, and this one is very special. 370Kg, wow Nick
  11. Geoff Can you stick me down for a place on the BHGP day. I am away at the moment so will dig out an application form and make payment this weekend if that is OK? Nick
  12. kenny If I remember when discussing fitting with Bruce at Arch Motors the plates are to bring the seat up enough so it fits OK, if you attach directly to the floor it fouls with the sides. I may be wrong as it was about nearly 7 years ago. I think I fitted some short bolts coated in paint to get the hole positions. Measuring was problematic as it is difficult to judge where the seat will sit to avoid interfering with the cockpit sides. Probably one of the hardest jobs on a 7 in my experience. Nick
  13. Being driven very sedately. Followed you off at junction 3 along til Farningham turn off. Top tip, give it some wellie Andrew Walkers old car? Nick
  14. Gary I have an indicator pod, about a year old. Say £5 plus postage(very light so should be cheap). Blatmail me if interested. Nick
  15. Find an engineering company with a flat table to check the tube. The ear can be checked with a steel rule. Nick
  16. It could be a bent ear, I would check this first, after checking all bolts are tight. I had a bent ear when I bought my car and in the end the de dion was bent as well, so replaced both. Nick
  17. I have successfully used a T cut and Wood Silk to bring mine back after Le Mans. You do need to give the T cut some elbow grease though. Nick

    Castor/Camber

Nick I am putting my suspension back together at the moment and am wondering what to set the castor to. The build manual says 2-2-2 left to right i.e. 2 washers between the rear of the front wishbone bush and front chassis, 2 between the rear chassis and front of the rear wishbone bush and two washers between the rear of the rear wishbone bush and the chassis plate. However on my car which is a BEC(Blackbird) I had 3-1-3, I assume because it is light on the front end and moving the wishbone forward gives more positive castor and therefore better steering weight and self centreing? I may just stick with this, not sure. So I assume this is how it goes: 0-4-0 Max negative castor wide track Caterham recommended ? 1-3-1 Half way house 2-2-2 Build manual, narrow track Caterham recommended? 3-1-3 Lightweight front end(BEC) for more steering feel, self centring. 4-0-4 Extreme positive castor. Nick
  19. Can you send photos to my Blatmail address please. Is it a Freestyle one or Meteor one? Nick
  20. Caterham CR500 in 15" are 195 45 15 for S3 cars and there are wider ones for the wide CSR rears, 245 I think Nick
  21. It's a fair cop I retract that statement, very dishonest. Sorry
  22. Pete If the battery is reading 0 volts then I would say it is knackered. Try returning it as faulty to the supplier. Did you say you have restarted the car since this episode? If so then everything should be ok? I would have thought the immobiliser may have been cooked but if you have started it then no worries. Nick
  23. Ian I have already lost a stone since New Year! Should have bought a pair of new ones last year when one disintegrated when reassembling, but bought a replacement and now the other one has fallen apart:-( . Carbon ones will at least be strong but £70 for a pair ain't cheap. Nick
