  1. The bolt head looks old and corroded. The car is new to me so I was giving it a quick check. It snapped as soon as I tried to loosen it. I know they can be awkward so I thought I would loosen and re-tighten it so make sure it didn't seize but it looks like it was too late. The damper is still on the car and I can't see how I can get it off.
  2. I was just giving my car (2009 Sigma Supersport) a spanner check and one of the lower damper bolts sheared almost as soon as I touched it. What is the solution to this? Will I need to get a new wishbone?
  3. SPA do a nice simple 270mm suede wheel for not much money. Just Google it.
  4. Does your car have a live axle or de dion rear end? Roll bars on live axle cars are just fitted with bolts from the top and are really easy to fit. It is a bit more involved for a de dion car as explained in post #2.
  5. I have a set of four 13" x 6" ital fitment Minator wheels (minilite style supplied by Caterham) for sale. They were recently refurb'd and have had little use since so are in very good condition having been powdercoated silver. Yokohama A539 tyres are fitted but the tread depth is not road legal. £150 Collection from near Newark, Notts.
  6. Now sold to another club member :)
  7. Having bought this from Simon 2 years ago it is time to sell it on to help fund a house move. We used it for one and half seasons of motorsport and for some family holidays and it has been a joy to own. 8. 2018 championship winning car. The car has just had a winter service and refresh. I would like to sell the car to somebody who will race it in the Caterham Graduates but if I can't find a racing buyer I will get it MOT'd, put my FIA roll bar and passenger seat/harness in it to sell as a road car. 1.6 litre 8 valve Vauxhall on twin 40 DCOE Weber carbs Type 9 five speed gearbox Ital axle with uprated Rakeway halfshaft kit Full Classic Graduates spec with the following options: Tillett driver’s seat Lowered driver’s floor GRP half doors Tonneau cover Removable suede steering wheel The car has been very well maintained (maintenance spreadsheet available to interested parties) and is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition.
  9. That looks like a modified de dion cage rather than a proper live axle one. The Safety Devices live axle cages (the ones supplied by the factory) have two diagnals (like Caged FIA roll bars) rather than the single diagnal on this cage.
  10. Slightly OT but just to correct Elie's post above, the Grads car that lost a wheel at Spa was due to the halfshaft nut coming loose and then falling off rather than a Rakeway halfshaft failiing. In Grads there has only been one Rakeway failure in 10 years.
  11. No problem Ash. It's surprising just how calm it can be in the car. And I love the wet :)
  12. My Classic Graduate race car is for sale if anybody would like to have a shot at racing next season. https://www.lotus7.club/forum/market-place/caterham-classic-graduate-race-car
  13. 2018 championship winning car which is available now. The Classic Graduates championship is the perfect place to start Caterham racing. It’s very competitive yet has the most gentlemanly driving standards you will find in any single spec Caterham racing. Much better value (and with far fewer accidents) than the Caterham Academy. 1.6 litre 8 valve Vauxhall on twin 40 DCOE Weber carbs Type 9 five speed gearbox Ital axle with uprated Rakeway halfshaft kit Full Classic Graduates spec with the following options: Tillett driver’s seat Lowered driver’s floor GRP half doors Tonneau cover Removable suede steering wheel New style transponder with 2 years subscription remaining The car has been very well maintained (maintenance spreadsheet available to interested parties) and is in very good mechanical and cosmetic condition. The car is only available to somebody who will race it in the Caterham Graduates championship. I am more than happy to keep it tucked up in my garage but I’d rather see it being raced. The following items may be available at extra cost (first refusal to buyer of the car): Brian James Minno trailer with boarded floor, tyre rack & jerry can box. 1 set black minilite alloy wheels with barely used full tread tyres. 1 set silver minilite wheels with well used tyres. Passenger Tillett seat. AIM Solo GPS lap timer with predictive lap timing function. Many random spares including radiator, anti-roll bars etc.
  14. Could you drill a couple of small holes in the nose where it goes under the car and cable tie around the chassis? You can get re-usable cable ties to make it easier.
  15. I had a shunt a Castle Combe on Monday so, as part of the rebuild, I think I should replace my 6 point harness in case it stretched in the impact. I had a Titon harness in the car which has been great but they are no longer made. Most harnesses seam to lose the adjuster down the side of the Tillett making adjustment impossible but the Titon belts with pull away from the buckle lap adjusters were great. Are there any other types that do this sort of adjuster? What would people recommend as a replacement at a sensible price?
  16. Hi Mark, I hope you're well. Thank you very much for your kind offer. I think I'm now sorted for fibreglass but I'll let you know if it doesn't work out.
  17. Sorry, formatting doesn't seem to work when posting on my phone. I'll edit later using my laptop.
  18. nosecone in black front and rear wings in red radiator for 8v Vauxhall (same as K series I think, I'll add a pic of the broken one later). I'm sure there will be more as I dismantle the car.
  19. Following a "bit of an off" at Castle Combe on Monday I will be needing the following: see following post
  20. Either black or chrome. Must be standard Caterham spec in order to meet race regs. Has anybody upgraded and got some sitting on a shelf?
  21. K Series into a live axle can be done. See this historic article from Low Flying in May 2002 - http://lowflying.lotus7.club/2002/2002_05_04_SpecialK.pdf PS I might be interested in your VX if you need to sell it.
