  1. In order to do The Paul Marriott Memorial Blat last Saturday, I had to learn to use the MyRouteapp. I thought I was doing ok until part way through the run when it all went wrong with blue lines in every direction. I had to follow other people and even at the finish it was telling me to do a u turn. Next day I tried to understand what went wrong, and realised that the route on Blat Maps when transferred to the Navigator app on my Android wasn't the same, eg wp 13 and wp 16-17. I then downloaded the Tomtom app and that transferred correctly. Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong? Today I had a check of my mobile data usage and that one trip used 816 Mb. Could it use a lot of data continually trying to correct the route all day?
  2. I seem to remember that there is what I took to be a tiny breather hole, maybe just a couple of millimetres, at the very top middle of the backplate facing backwards. Could that be the culprit?
  3. Caterham also do these https://caterhamparts.co.uk/anti-roll-bars/3721-rear-anti-roll-bar-droplink-metric.html?search_query=Rear+drop+links&results=52 so I assume yours are imperial. McGill only do metric track rod ends so you'll also need 8mm nuts and threaded bar. As a matter of interest, I wonder why the metric links are 50% more expensive?
  4. I could be wrong here, but I thought the bump steer problems of the past had been sorted with the introduction of the offset rack mounting bracket. This has been standard since before the introduction of the 270,360,420 range. Maybe the differences Andy felt were more to do with differing specs between the 2 models , ie wheels/tyres, road/sport suspension, anti roll bars etc., and also the set up of the car. I know my own car which is R spec can be uncomfortable on some minor roads with lots of camber and dodgy margins, but track days and sprinting it feels great. Maybe a case of horses for course.
  5. Bricol, are you talking about something like this http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m8-x-1-25mm-male-female-ball-joint-track-rod-end-938/ These appear to have a much higher load rating (6 times) than the rod ends I linked to earlier, and also a good angular displacement. I also like the rubber boot.
  6. I wonder if something like this would work http://www.wychbearings.co.uk/fp-m08s_rodend_bearing.html
  7. Russ, List 1a and 1b are allowed in specialist production class. 1b are far better tyres. Mike
  8. Yours is an updated backplate and carrier, although not the latest. This was superceded in autumn 2013 because of ongoing problems with backplate/dedion interference, particularly on the race cars. I suspect they were not retro fitted on road cars unless a problem occurred. I don't think this alone would be the cause of oil leaks, although overfilling might. Workshop notice 542 states not to use the fill hole to determine oil level, but fill with 800ml. It should be obvious from the smell if it is diff oil leaking! Picture from workshop notice to show differences.
  9. Hi Chris, I'll take a place please. Mike
  10. David, Extract from blue book says 1 litre 10.3.5. Engine Oil Systems – Unless equipped with a closed loop system, a Catch tank of at least a one litre capacity to be incorporated in the oil breather system.
  11. My email said acknowledged and accepted.
  12. Hello James, I think I probably mislead you there. It's a while since I used them, and then it was with a 6 point CC harness. Now I've had a little remember and a trip to the garage to check it out on my 4 point harness, they just loop over the shoulder belt buckles before they're clicked in. I can take them to Cadwell if you want to try them. Small donation to club charity will be fine. Mike
  13. Most of the ones I've seen people using are Caterham supplied. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/other/5559-arm-restraint-racing-blac.html I have a pair I don't use which you are welcome to, but you do need the 6 point harness as they connect to the crutch straps (not an AS reference).
  14. I got mine out using the chisel end of a crow bar. It does take a bit of leverage to remove it and it will be scrap. Before removing it, note how far it is set in from the edge, as you can vary this if you need to avoid an existing mark on the drive shaft. When replacing, gently tap in with a flat hammer, constantly moving around the edge to keep it going in nice and square.
  15. Hi Frosty, Sorry, can't give you a definite answer to that one. It was perfect on my Sigma but I don't know the cranking effort of the Duratec engine. Mike
  16. Model HJTX14H-FP-SI. I used this on my Sigma 140 in the speed championship for one season and it always performed well. Compared to a Banner at 7kg, this weighs a whopping 850g. I can post at cost, but I will be at Blyton this weekend and I can take it with me. £30
  17. That is lighting wire and will only be live when lights are on. There are usually a couple of green wires spare in the loom somewhere, these are fused live.
  18. Simon, The blue book specifies flexible tonneau, not soft. In the absence of a definition in the nomenclature section, I'd go with the online dictionary meaning of flexible, i.e. capable of being bent without breaking. As it's aluminium, I'd say you're good to go. Mike
  19. Still the same spec with all the adjustments SM25T mentioned, although there are now only 2 main pedal pivot points, probably dates back to metric chassis change. I'm surprised by the figure of 3" as my car of same spec was pretty spot on, the only adjustment I needed was to extend the throttle pedal towards the brake pedal, but I've got dinky feet! Anyway to answer your question, your service person was not being very factual.
  20. Something like this maybe http://www.tapeworks.com/Rimstripes/
  21. If you mean MR06K, I have a pair. Message me your details. Mike
